This safe allows you to store one, count 'em, ONE handgun, and one mag. For less money, you can purchase a Vaultek safe that can store several guns, mags, money, passport... you just won't have the 007 feature of it popping out. I don't really see the advantage of this series of Vaultek safes, but everyone loves having options!
@@eastbayst9458 The Slider safe starts at $229 on Vaulteks site. You can purchase the VE20, without the fingerprint reader and bluetooth, for $169. The VE20 with bluetooth, but no fingerprint reader, is $190. Alot of people with the Vaultek safe with fingerprint readers say that they only work some of the time, and they wouldn't rely on them anyways. I understand everyone's needs are different. I just found the slider to be very restrictive, as far as how much it'll hold.
I just purchased one for my M&P Shield 2.0 and Springfield Hellcat and they are too small for this safe. You can insert a piece of foam inside where the barrel would sit but then the handgun trigger guard will be outside of the foam making the handgun wabble. I'm returning it. Great video though! thanks.
I can’t say for sure if this is a solution: but the Wifi and Bluetooth models have different dimensions (Bigger) inside than the Essential model. Essential model: Exterior Dimensions: 2.6” L x 9.1” W x 10.5″ Interior Dimensions: 1.625” L x 5.625” x 8.125” H Capacity: 1 Compact + Spare Magazine Wifi & Bluetooth models: Exterior Dimensions: 2.6″ L x 9.1″ W x 11.25″ H Interior Dimensions: 2″ L x 5.625″ W x 8.875″ H Capacity: 1 Full Size + Spare Magazine
Great video thanks. You forgot to put gun in and show if it have to way to position for the gun or pistol facing in or out if you know what I mean. Need to get one. Never mine just saw another video.
Is there a way to remove the sliding drawer? I would make it much easier to replace the battery & to access the program button and such. It looks like there are a couple of locknuts that hold in the bottom bracket / roller... will removing those allow the drawer to be removed?
@@JeffinTD I like it a lot, although I don’t see much of a benefit going for the wifi version over bluetooth. The slider series is certainly a nice option to have.
@@theexpatgunner Thanks for the reply. Though I’ve got security cameras I could see the WiFi version as handy to let you know if someone (house sitter or whoever) attempts to open it. I’ve seen one or two negative comments on the fingerprint scanner, but everyone seems happy with the newer version.
Will the case hold a Glock with a red dot and light mounted to the handgun? How’s the fingerprint scanner on this safe? Is it worth paying the extra hundred something dollars for this or just get the standard version with just the key pad and key?
Is the foam removable so you can change the orientation of the firearm? Ideally I’d like it flipped the opposite direction. I emailed their customer service and they said yes if you are careful with it. Just wondering if you had a hands on perspective on this.
I have a different model Vaultek, but I would imagine it's the same. Along with using the furnished key, if your battery should die, you can easily plug in a micro USB, which will give your safe enough battery charge to open it. My safe does not forget the combo, even if the battery dies. Then simply leave the safe plugged in for 2.5 hours and recharge the battery! Please remember, I don't have this safe, I have a different model, but I would be surprised if Vaultek made this safe less convenient then their earlier models.
They recommend leaving it plugged in all the time, and the wi-fi model goes in to power save mode by default when on battery- so the app only reports status last time the safe was “awake”.
If you are building something that might be required to open in order to save a life you do not cut corners to save less than a dollar on a spring. With a spring to weak to open the safe when empty, if it is not oriented down, I would give it a 3 star review at most. In other words it will not open reliably when empty if level, let alone oriented up as you would want in a car if mounted by the side of the center console. Just imagine how bad it will be with a couple pounds of pistol and ammo in it. Vaultek should either increase the spring tension or go to a motorized opening system, both will increase the costs but as is, it is not a product I would invest in.
Pretty disappointed. The SR20i is much too big especially to accommodate the slide to mount in either driver side or passenger side floor wells against the console for quick access
Not sure how the new biometric button makes sense unless you purchased a model without biometrics already. Why push a biometric panic button when the safe already has the same thing?
Also to be fair, these bedside type safes are not as secure as a full size fire rated safe. They mainly offer child protection and some level of security from the smash and grab type common burglar.

I’d see this for being valuable for people who have full sized gun safes, so the bedside safe need only hold one gun.
The note about the mounting is vital. Thanks!

You should definitely do more gun related content! 👍🏻
Great review, I’ve just ordered the wifi and biometric version of the Vaultek Slider.
How do you like it, if you don’t mind my asking?

@@theexpatgunner The benefit with the wifi, you can see if someone has tampered, tried to open or used the safe from anywhere
@@BuckyATX this is true but the wifi version doesn’t yet work with WPA3 security protocol so I’m just using my HomeKit CCTV to monitor.
Did you have any trouble locking the safe down to the plate? I just can’t get it to lock down. Super frustrating
Very informative. Thanks. Does the safe a hole for attaching a retention cable?
I have the Vaultek SE20. Mine hangs up when sliding open. The bearing system should be much better

What type of gun does it fit tho?? Glocks?
The Bluetooth button is great for office or single life
True. True.
so is this the NSL20i or the SL20i configuration of the safe (wifi or bluetooth)?

It doesn't allow you to flip the foam.
So, lets say I forget to change the battery. Can it still open up?
You would use the key. Make sure you don't throw away the key.

Does this thing fit a Glock 17 with a modlite pl350?

Will this fit a CZ Shadow 2?
Their site says a full size 1911 with a light.
Or roughly 8.5 inches in length.
Didn't see anything on grip length

good vid bud
Totally agree if you have kids around ,I wouldn't activate button.i did order the biometric button which is lot safer and works same

Sooooo, don’t rely on the finger print lmao
Can't rely on the nano key either. Just stopped working, regardless of how many times it's paired correctly.
The finger prints feature is junk. Not sensitive enough.
This is not a secure safe . Someone can remove it from the mount and walk away with the entire safe.
Except you can’t do that without the safe being open. Pretty clear in the video (and in person) I thought.

@@JeffinTD fire safes are easy to get into also, just look up what it takes to get into the thin gauge metal they use
