Love the dog paintings - they add that touch of whimsy! It seems like so much happened in the last week and a half, but of course, it's the final push to decorate after all the prep and it's the prep that takes the time! Still, it's so satisfying when you get to the painting and decorating stage!

Stuart and Patrick, what can I say that hasn't already been said by so many others? The entrance looks fantadtic, clean and bright. What an amazing difference a little paint makes, and some plaster and sanding, wood filler and molding and hard work. The chandelier looks so pretty. I love the effect it has when viewed through the window. I adore the smell of lilac.❤ It's one I associate with Spring. It brings me back to my very early childhood. I have a variegated iris with blue flowers blooming right now. They look so pretty on the plant I can't bring myself to cut them. Bring on the guests! They're going to love the place. ❤ from TX!

You should be very proud of all your talents and efforts to make this the most beautiful and welcoming entrance into your Chateau. I can just imagine how everyone who enters is fortunate enough to experience the smells of fresh flowers, sights enticing the eyes with beautiful tones of French Grays, the staircase and paintings and moldings. Oh Oolala! Hint: if you place two nails approximately 4-5 inches apart when hanging artwork; they won’t tilt when the door slams. It’s worked for years for me. Also keeps you from dragging a very tall ladder in to straighten them. Love and hugs 🤗 😘

Good morning Patrick & Stuart, everything is looking so beautiful. I love the detailed board work Stuart had done for the painting. I would have just given a light coat of paint to seal the wall and then added the board, but it is covered and done and it is lovely, so neat and tidy and beautiful. It is hard work for sure, but look at the result, and the paint is gorgeous, the finished texture looks lovely. The cracked vase, maybe use an outside sealer and then spray paint the ceramic, it will be awesome, but the flowers stole my heart, so pretty. I am very happy for you that all is coming together so nice and "smoothly" and by next week you will be done with that project. Then you can enjoy your visitors and enjoy all the compliments, you deserve it. I do wish you a break from the d.i.y., but I cannot wait to see the furniture restoration with the Gilboys furniture wax!! Must quickly share: my mother's friend and husband came to visit, we were then in a flat, she asked who does the floors, they shine so lovely. Aw thanks I said, I sue the wax boy!! Oh how much do you pay I said no - no, Cobra makes a liquid floor polish, you tip the container upside down and screw it onto the metal broom style and it has a trigger and you squirt/spray as you go along, wait for it to dry and then I use the polisher to shine up. 🥰 That was a long time ago. Dear Elize. I love your anecdote of the floors. I remember using a heavy brush to polish the wooden floors in the air force….. 😮😊. We will have some less work beginning mid-May. Stuart’s panelings look like they always have been here. It is so satisfying. Stuart will try to seal the glass and we will also look for vases at charity shops. We will be nervous and happy to open our first guest room. Love from us ❤❤❤

The transformation in the chateau entryway is quite stunning, I agree. Seeing it in person is, of course, the penultimate, but I wanted to let you know that it comes through very nicely in the YT video. So my compliments with the cinematography! How bright the main entrance and stairs are now with fixings and paint made such a difference already even with that little bit left to do. The paintings add lovely drama and traditional look with a bit of whimsy is too cute a great tribute. That petite chandelier is so cute and pretty.
The entrance hall is not only grand, it is inviting! That is not always an easy thing to do. I am so glad you have both taken a moment to enjoy your accomplishments! Thank you! I don't think I ever said I had an issue with heights. As a hobby, I worked for many years doing scenic design for theaters where I was on much higher scaffolding and up on the catwalk over the stage. We will film the full entrance hall once it is completed, but we still have more decorating and detail work to finish first. ❤️

You should be very proud of all your talents and efforts to make this the most beautiful and welcoming entrance into your Chateau. I can just imagine how everyone who enters is fortunate enough to experience the smells of fresh flowers, sights enticing the eyes with beautiful tones of French Grays, the staircase and paintings and moldings. Oh Oolala! Hint: if you place two nails approximately 4-5 inches apart when hanging artwork; they won’t tilt when the door slams. It’s worked for years for me. Also keeps you from dragging a very tall ladder in to straighten them. Love and hugs 🤗 😘

Good morning Patrick & Stuart, everything is looking so beautiful. I love the detailed board work Stuart had done for the painting. I would have just given a light coat of paint to seal the wall and then added the board, but it is covered and done and it is lovely, so neat and tidy and beautiful. It is hard work for sure, but look at the result, and the paint is gorgeous, the finished texture looks lovely. The cracked vase, maybe use an outside sealer and then spray paint the ceramic, it will be awesome, but the flowers stole my heart, so pretty. I am very happy for you that all is coming together so nice and "smoothly" and by next week you will be done with that project. Then you can enjoy your visitors and enjoy all the compliments, you deserve it. I do wish you a break from the d.i.y., but I cannot wait to see the furniture restoration with the Gilboys furniture wax!! Must quickly share: my mother's friend and husband came to visit, we were then in a flat, she asked who does the floors, they shine so lovely. Aw thanks I said, I sue the wax boy!! Oh how much do you pay I said no - no, Cobra makes a liquid floor polish, you tip the container upside down and screw it onto the metal broom style and it has a trigger and you squirt/spray as you go along, wait for it to dry and then I use the polisher to shine up. 🥰 That was a long time ago. Dear Elize. I love your anecdote of the floors. I remember using a heavy brush to polish the wooden floors in the air force….. 😮😊. We will have some less work beginning mid-May. Stuart’s panelings look like they always have been here. It is so satisfying. Stuart will try to seal the glass and we will also look for vases at charity shops. We will be nervous and happy to open our first guest room. Love from us ❤❤❤

How bright the main entrance and stairs are now with fixings and paint made such a difference already even with that little bit left to do. The paintings add lovely drama and traditional look with a bit of whimsy is too cute a great tribute. That petite chandelier is so cute and pretty.

OMG! Hi Stuart and Patrick! I am in Awe of what you both have accomplished in the Entrance Hall! Now that My legs have stopped shaking from watching you Both up so high, I can Enjoy the finished product. I was scared enough for Patrick up there but seeing you, Stuart, who we know is not fond of heights, up there as well, well that was almost too much! I hope you are now all done with platforms & scafolds😅. Please take a minute to film all around the stairwell and walls so we can see everything including the paintings. I’m So excited to see it all! Thank you! I don't think I ever said I had an issue with heights. As a hobby, I worked for many years doing scenic design for theaters where I was on much higher scaffolding and up on the catwalk over the stage. We will film the full entrance hall once it is completed, but we still have more decorating and detail work to finish first. ❤️
