    About a solid 7 second run from 0-60. Underrated at 180hp, more like 220hp.

      To be fair, the car actually has slightly oversized tires. Also has a chip to open up the fueling and ignition tuning at WOT.

    These were the 307's to get a hold of. This was before they changed over to the more restrictive 7A heads and notice how this engine actually spins out to 5500 RPM's which is nowhere near what an 85 on up 7A head could do.

      The gear ratio plays a big factor I had a 1986 cutlass Supreme with the 231 buick v6 and 2:41 gear and when I put a 7A head 307 olds in it would rost the tires and rev to 5500 RPM with the 200C 3speed automatic transmission my other cutlass with 2:14 rear gear and 200C transmission and 307 7A as well would only rev to 4200 rpm 4500 if I had the wind pushing at her back side peace and much respect to you Jason 👍the hurst olds has 3:73 ratio and the 200R4 four speed transmission the extra gear helps as well also 180HP compared to the 140-148 HP 307 the 5A heads are the best 6A and 7A are bad the 80 to 85 1/2 307 blocks use a hydrolic cam where the 86 to 1990 307 has the hydrolic roller camshaft and floating piston pins best combo late blocks and 5A heads just passing knowledge along not ripping or getting shit E 😉👍1987 442 170HP

      My 85 442 82,000 original miles has the 5a head 307HO same as the 83-84 Hurst Olds, it will scoot pretty good, the earlier 307HO 83-85 had more than 180hp, more like 215-220hp, the 86-87 442s with the 7a heads about 205-210hp because of the more restrictive flowing heads, the 5a heads were basically 350 Olds heads same size intake and exhaust ports as 350 Olds.

    I loved those cars as a kid, girlfriend in HS had a maroon '87 Cutlass that looked like a 442 with the wheels, I always dreamed of putting a Olds 330, 350, 400, 425 or 455 it because the late 307 was a DOG.

    Sad thing is the H/O 307 made almost as much HP as the last of the Olds 455s with 180 vs 190hp, of course the TQ and Rpms were completely different and the ultimate potential. I always thought it was a genuine shame GM let the ecomentalists intimidate them into going to 307 instead of keeping the 350 available or at least bringing back the old 330ci from the 60s, same as what Chevrolet should have done instead of the trash 305, should have brought back the 327 or put a 3.48 stroke in the 307. The performance desert from the late 70s until the early 90s was insane and I can't believe we ever recovered.

    hello, great video thank you! please i have a question regarding the gearbox. P = Parking, R = Reverse, N = Neutral, and then after that corresponds to what? thank you in advance. ( i want to buy a Buick and she has the same gearbox. In France we have just P,R,N,D)

    • @yodacode43
      @yodacode43 3 года назад +2

      Hello! Thank you for your question.
      I assume you're talking about a 1980s Buick Regal? Very cool if so. Always wanted one of those along with my Oldsmobile.
      In this car, it's as you said Park Reverse Neutral. The next one is OD = Overdrive. That's 4th gear. The transmission operates as normal when placed here. Following that is D = Drive. That will allow the car to drive as normal but not use 4th gear. Drive = 3rd gear. It's the gear with 1:1 ratio. The next one is 2 = 2nd gear. The car will only shift up to 2nd and will stay there unless you move to D or OD. Finally. The 1 = 1st gear. Locks the car into 1st gear for maybe a low traction start or if you were to tow with the car, perhaps.
      I hope this helps!

      @yodacode43 3 года назад

      I realize I didn’t clarify that in your cars case that D is effectively the same as our OD. It should use 4th gear (assuming your car has a TH2004R transmission which is a 4 speed), but if your car has a 3 speed (TH250C or THM350), then D = 3rd gear in your case.
      Is yours a 3.8 turbo or just a non-turbo 3.8 V6?

      @@yodacode43 Hello Mr Cody Clarke!
      Thank you very much for your explanations, they taught me a lot. Yes it's for a 1987 Buick Grand National 3.8 Turbo. Hope to have it soon. That way we will go for walks together if you feel like it of course.
      Once again thank you very much and continue it's great what you are doing !!!
      Take care of yourself

      Looks stock to me. 180 hp and 245 lb-ft in a 3,500 lb car is good for under 8 seconds 0-60 with traction. This took a little longer with some wheelspin.
