Jigarthanda XX completely satisfied me than any other Tamil big movies in 2023. In second half I felt the conflict was forcefully underlined in several moments (Ceaser Ray kitta padathoda climax shoot pannanum nu soldradhu like shooting ngra conflict ah characters insist panna maadhiri irundhuchu) But in first half the conflict felt so organic (Which is Ceaser Ray kitta interval scene shoot pannanum nu soldradhu. I thoroughly enjoyed every piece of work throughout the interval block staging and finishing! For me it didn't felt like the movie is overrated.. And then you realize the gangster is a pawn of the system too. All oppression being systemic makes individual criminals go out honorably.

It filmed in screen and it became a cinema. and a cinema doesn't need to meet all the criteria to be the best, it's a form of art. if it express the idea in a best way, the more the creative it is, then it's best. All the points you said, that what made me to understand the politics, people, lifestyle, their choice of cinema & the geography. This movie doesn't fit in the 3 act structure but seems to be the 5 act structure: Act 1 - Exposition : characters introduction & their back story a) kirubai back story - selected for SI of TN police, about to married to his fiancee, but sentenced for uncommitted murder. b) alliyus backstory - a guy from tribal area, who is fan of a western actor wants to become like him but got insulted b'cuz of his skin color. c) shine Tom - A famous actor who wants to become CM, but his films are less influential in some area b'cuz of an another politician karmegam. so he plans to kill his gangsters. d) lady CM - she needs to evacuate people from a tribal village, so she can become PM All characters have their own motifs Act 2 : Rising action - lady CM plans to evacuate the villagers so she secretly assigned shettani to hunt the elephants and scare the villagers. At the same time she ordered the police dept to enquire the villagers about shettani, b'cuz he is a criminal. - shine Tom plans to kill the gangsters, so he asked his brother DSP to help him. he assigned 4 prisoners (ex cops) to get the mission done, so they can get back their job. - kirubai needs to get back his job, so he accept the offer. He gets to know his target is going to act a movie. he pretends to be a famous director's student raydas. He tells, he chose to shoot alliyus life story. With him some days, he learns that alliyus was the reason he was sentenced. so he made to fight with shettony. (He thinks shettani will kill alliyus) - alliyus is a fan of Clint eastwood so, decides the film to be made in Clint Eastwood style.he gave a camera to raydas, that he got from Clint Eastwood. He went to his own village, fought shettani & handed to the police. Act 3 : Climax karmegam told lady CM alliyus captured shettani, but he later learns that she's the one who assigned shettani. Alliyus came to know he is accused now. so he told Ray das to film the massacre, hopes this film will speaks the truth in the form of cinema. He shoots everything in the camera but shot by the police. Act 4 - Falling action Nothing good happened yet Alliyus & villagers died Lady CM evacuated the people & eliminated shettani (Alliyus) is about to become PM now. Shine Tom movie is now running successfully in all theatres. He is expected to be the next CM. We didn't know where kirubai & the film he shooted was lost in the village. Final Act - Resolution Karmegam took the films that kirubai shooted and screened in the cinema on the same day shine tom's film screened. Now people witnessed the massacre & get to know who the real hero was and protested against the government. Kirubai survived the shoot out and to took revenge for ceaser, he killed DSP (shine tom's brother) who came to kill karmegam. - Alliyus is a hero now as he wanted to become. - Kirubai married to a Village girl. - tom & lady CM are declared as criminals the movie is a bit complicated to follow a single motif, but it involves multiple character arcs, change over in every characters, twists without a spoon feeding foreshadowing. He was supposed to be a police or a killer but instead went through a character arc to save Caesar and the forest. What more writing is expected ? Grammar is for communication and not a fascist condition. JDX is a new kind of script which will be used for years to come by other film makers.
My opinion on Double X: Enakku neenga sonna point ah oru friend um sonnaan (multiple plot points naala movie pudikala nu) but I liked it for the same reason. Movie la multiple plot points irunthadhu enakku problem ah illa aana onnu mattum light ah thonuchu: ella plot points um surface level la different storylines irukku ngra maari kaamichutu aana ellame ore solution (infact ore problem thaan) podhum maari aachu. It felt very convenient (I liked the film so I personally was fine with this one issue, but yes it's a issue). And the movie in the beginning minute's felt like opening new chapters each with different characters (Police torture, SJ arrest, Actor opposition, Ceaser intro). The film kept going in directions that we might not expect (doing this constantly), works and doesn't works but I felt that was a style. And filmmaking point was valid, neriya edathula enna da major scene ah shoot (record) pannala nu feel pannen, climax la bayanthen aana athu point ey illa nu mudikkum bothu idhukku yean feel pannen nu aagiruchu (cinematic liberty ah plot point ah nu clear ah illa). Logic wise Kavan's and Double X's climaxes are same, but antha movie based ah athu footage ah (Kavan) or movie ah (Double X) nu maaruthu.

Jigardhanda XX was not very interesting initially, but post interval, it was good and the angle of politics was great but I agree that this storyline cheats the audience as they were shown many things but only few were necessary. However, the making style and building up of suspense (whether Ray will kill Allius or not / movie will come or not) made me enjoy the movie to an extent.

Director yenna yamathuradhu yenaku therilana adhu director cinema kaga konjam Liberty yeduthukutarunu nu sollalam Even I know the shooting in the film is not a proper film making. i think KS knew it as well. The SJ suriya simply taking footage and fooling Ceaser because he is zero in filmmaking. At last they dont screen the film for commercial success. They do it to spread the word and provoke the people's emotion. It is well written and well made film.

Great I got a different viewpoint from your video about double x, actually u spoiled the movie , i thought it is the biggest writing work of 2023, especially the scene where the SJ realise that I am doing for my own vengeance is immature when compared to mother nature (in the open place after seeing delivery of baby elephant). And I loved the dialogue of alias Ceaser during pre climax that when asked 'ur the thalaivan ' thalaivana masuru ' that dialogue was very much needed for those who were still waiting for one hero to come and safeguard our political and economical well being. Long story short apart from cinematic grammar u have detailed, my point is that we should encourage the ideology KS has tried to express i.e., against hero worship. Yes, JT DX got alot of points but the point is like we are following which character. Allius Ceasar - A guy from tribal who is uneducated and don't know about cine-making and wanna be a hero like Clintwood. Ray Das/Kirubai - A convict who is given a choice of freedom as assigned to assassinate Alliyus Ceasar. SJS understood that they didn't know anything about Cinema and use that advantages to learn more about him. That Nimisha Character said that he will change as Cinema will change him. So, when watching I know that second half or climax that he will be hero that atleast have a good hearted (the police massacre is twist for me). So SJS character is functioning for me. That CM motive to clear up the tribal and wanna be PM all like Jailer - Rajini Son got a plan even though he knows that his father is dangerous. Theve illethe twist . We all don't know how the script writing, movie production works but is it satisfied majority people?? Then it is good. At least Jigarthanda Double X is not irritated like Jagame Thathiram.
Bro I agree with everything except one part where you said what vjs made was not a filim but it was just footage. But actually there is a whole genea of films called "found footage" movies. Generally they use it for horror movies but we can assume vjs shot a found footage movie on Lawrence charector.
Finally someone said what was in my mind. Jigarthanda is an average one time watch movie with excellent techincal output, but not a great movie. There are many unconvincing lope holes and the 2nd half completely shifts to a different theme and too dense as a story, for me it was less emotional. Oru sub plot um mulusa solli mudikala. N I have noticed a peculiar writing pattern in KS movies post Mercury, there are too many co incidence forced into the story to just create a plot line and move the narattive. Adhuve othukura maadhiri illa. Enna Ketta Jigathanda part 1 is still his best movie and no other movie came close to this (not considering Iraivi) becoz its kind of an art movie and even in that you never know what is the motive or plot of the movie leading to climax, it got survived becoz of performance and climax. Most importantly "The art choses you" line eh convincing eh illa, indha movie kum porundhala. I didint feel emotional during the shoot out scene and post climax scene of movie getting released, SJ Suryah being alive also didnt excite me much.

Felt the same about this movie. I was first excited after finishing interval because I wanted to know what will happen between alius caesar and sj surya (i didn't even care about the village in forest and the cops) but after interval everything went downhill since subbaraj failed to provide any conclusion to all the plots in the first half rather created more redundant plots in the second EDIT: I see a lot of comments saying they liked jigarthanda xx. It is mostly because they film is shot beautifully and its appealing to the eyes. Also screenplay and editing is so seamless and gives you the illusion that the movie is great. I agree Karthik and his team masters in technicalities. But story and scriptwise the movie is not good

DOUBLEX was entertaining in theatres mainly because of SaNa's orgasmic BGM and the western style of making. It was fresh to watch a Tamil film in western style. But as a cinema lover, this film's script is pure shit as VaaiSavadaal explained. None of the people I know accepted this fact and was going with the social media trend. And people who tell 'Even Tarantino films are like this....', please, Tarantino films has 4 or 5 strong plots and characters leading each plot, when it all meets at a place in the climax, makes it a masterpiece cinema. We aren't cheated and fed any unwanted plots and twists just for the sake.

Good effort brother 👍🏻.. But the art is under no obligation to follow a protocol. I loved the movie a lot brother..it completely worked for me. The director intends to write a love letter to cinema and its ability to rise the question against the atrocities of people in power...which was conveyed beautifully ❤ Even with the presence of few mistakes that you have pointed out, as a fan of good cinema... for me, the soul of the movie, the weight of its characters, the brilliant artwork, the performances , the music and all of these stood tall and overshadowed the mistakes..which happens in good movies...My heart felt full at the end of the movie, which rarely happen these days.. According to me, it is not an overrated movie, it is a "should be celebrated movie"
I find this video too critical about JD-XX, it was a good watch for a movie goer. Jigarthanda XX completely satisfied me than any other Tamil big movies in 2023. In second half I felt the conflict was forcefully underlined in several moments (Ceaser Ray kitta padathoda climax shoot pannanum nu soldradhu like shooting ngra conflict ah characters insist panna maadhiri irundhuchu) But in first half the conflict felt so organic (Which is Ceaser Ray kitta interval scene shoot pannanum nu soldradhu. I thoroughly enjoyed every piece of work throughout the interval block staging and finishing! For me it didn't felt like the movie is overrated.. I feel this movie need much more attention and appreciation. XX satisfied me like Leo satisfied you 🙂❤.

backstory - a guy from tribal area, who is fan of a western actor wants to become like him but got insulted b'cuz of his skin color.
c) shine Tom - A famous actor who wants to become CM, but his films are less influential in some area b'cuz of an another politician karmegam. so he plans to kill his gangsters.
d) lady CM - she needs to evacuate people from a tribal village, so she can become PM
All characters have their own motifs
Act 2 : Rising action
- lady CM plans to evacuate the villagers so she secretly assigned shettani to hunt the elephants and scare the villagers. At the same time she ordered the police dept to enquire the villagers about shettani, b'cuz he is a criminal.
- shine Tom plans to kill the gangsters, so he asked his brother DSP to help him.
he assigned 4 prisoners (ex cops) to get the mission done, so they can get back their job.
- kirubai needs to get back his job, so he accept the offer. He gets to know his target is going to act a movie. he pretends to be a famous director's student raydas. He tells, he chose to shoot alliyus life story. With him some days, he learns that alliyus was the reason he was sentenced. so he made to fight with shettony. (He thinks shettani will kill alliyus)
- alliyus is a fan of Clint eastwood so, decides the film to be made in Clint Eastwood style.he gave a camera to raydas, that he got from Clint Eastwood. He went to his own village, fought shettani & handed to the police.
Act 3 : Climax
karmegam told lady CM alliyus captured shettani, but he later learns that she's the one who assigned shettani.
She told that Alliyus is the actual shettani. so the PD went to kill Alliyus & even the villagers.
Alliyus came to know he is accused now. so he told Ray das to film the massacre, hopes this film will speaks the truth in the form of cinema.
He shoots everything in the camera but shot by the police.
Act 4 - Falling action

Alliyus & villagers died
Lady CM evacuated the people & eliminated shettani (Alliyus) is about to become PM now.
Shine Tom movie is now running successfully in all theatres. He is expected to be the next CM.
We didn't know where kirubai & the film he shooted was lost in the village.
Final Act - Resolution
Karmegam took the films that kirubai shooted and screened in the cinema on the same day shine tom's film screened.
Now people witnessed the massacre & get to know who the real hero was and protested against the government.
Kirubai survived the shoot out and to took revenge for ceaser, he killed DSP (shine tom's brother) who came to kill karmegam.

the movie is a bit complicated to follow a single motif, but it involves multiple character arcs, change over in every characters, twists without a spoon feeding foreshadowing.

There is no rule that every movie has to follow the 3 act, setup, fore shadow etc. what's wrong with the S.J.Surya shooting a footage ? Why is he not a artist ? He was supposed to be a police or a killer but instead went through a character arc to save Caesar and the forest. What more writing is expected ?
Grammar is for communication and not a fascist condition. JDX is a new kind of script which will be used for years to come by other film makers.
My opinion on Double X:
Enakku neenga sonna point ah oru friend um sonnaan (multiple plot points naala movie pudikala nu) but I liked it for the same reason.
Movie la multiple plot points irunthadhu enakku problem ah illa aana onnu mattum light ah thonuchu: ella plot points um surface level la different storylines irukku ngra maari kaamichutu aana ellame ore solution (infact ore problem thaan) podhum maari aachu. It felt very convenient (I liked the film so I personally was fine with this one issue, but yes it's a issue).
And the movie in the beginning minute's felt like opening new chapters each with different characters (Police torture, SJ arrest, Actor opposition, Ceaser intro). The film kept going in directions that we might not expect (doing this constantly), works and doesn't works but I felt that was a style.
And filmmaking point was valid, neriya edathula enna da major scene ah shoot (record) pannala nu feel pannen, climax la bayanthen aana athu point ey illa nu mudikkum bothu idhukku yean feel pannen nu aagiruchu (cinematic liberty ah plot point ah nu clear ah illa). Logic wise Kavan's and Double X's climaxes are same, but antha movie based ah athu footage ah (Kavan) or movie ah (Double X) nu maaruthu.

Ok sooo I’m not a cinephile, but as a gen audience I loved jigarthanda XX. I see the subplots that you mentioned as mere incidents which adds to the course of the story! And about the footage not being a movie, I feel he takes those footages, just for the sake of it and also fooling RL that SJS is a filmmaker. Also when compared to a lot of movies I have watched this movie was really nice!!

Jigardhanda XX was not very interesting initially, but post interval, it was good and the angle of politics was great but I agree that this storyline cheats the audience as they were shown many things but only few were necessary. However, the making style and building up of suspense (whether Ray will kill Allius or not / movie will come or not) made me enjoy the movie to an extent.

Great I got a different viewpoint from your video about double x, actually u spoiled the movie , i thought it is the biggest writing work of 2023, especially the scene where the SJ realise that I am doing for my own vengeance is immature when compared to mother nature (in the open place after seeing delivery of baby elephant). And I loved the dialogue of alias Ceaser during pre climax that when asked 'ur the thalaivan ' thalaivana masuru ' that dialogue was very much needed for those who were still waiting for one hero to come and safeguard our political and economical well being. Long story short apart from cinematic grammar u have detailed, my point is that we should encourage the ideology KS has tried to express i.e., against hero worship. Allius Ceasar - A guy from tribal who is uneducated and don't know about cine-making and wanna be a hero like Clintwood.
Ray Das/Kirubai - A convict who is given a choice of freedom as assigned to assassinate Alliyus Ceasar.
SJS understood that they didn't know anything about Cinema and use that advantages to learn more about him. That Nimisha Character said that he will change as Cinema will change him. So, when watching I know that second half or climax that he will be hero that atleast have a good hearted (the police massacre is twist for me). So SJS character is functioning for me.
That CM motive to clear up the tribal and wanna be PM all like Jailer - Rajini Son got a plan even though he knows that his father is dangerous. Theve illethe twist . We all don't know how the script writing, movie production works but is it satisfied majority people?? Then it is good. At least Jigarthanda Double X is not irritated like Jagame Thathiram.

Finally someone said what was in my mind. Jigarthanda is an average one time watch movie with excellent techincal output, but not a great movie. There are many unconvincing lope holes and the 2nd half completely shifts to a different theme and too dense as a story, for me it was less emotional. Oru sub plot um mulusa solli mudikala. N I have noticed a peculiar writing pattern in KS movies post Mercury, there are too many co incidence forced into the story to just create a plot line and move the narattive. Adhuve othukura maadhiri illa. Enna Ketta Jigathanda part 1 is still his best movie and no other movie came close to this (not considering Iraivi) becoz its kind of an art movie and even in that you never know what is the motive or plot of the movie leading to climax, it got survived becoz of performance and climax. Most importantly "The art choses you" line eh convincing eh illa, indha movie kum porundhala. I didint feel emotional during the shoot out scene and post climax scene of movie getting released, SJ Suryah being alive also didnt excite me much.

I was first excited after finishing interval because I wanted to know what will happen between alius caesar and sj surya (i didn't even care about the village in forest and the cops) but after interval everything went downhill since subbaraj failed to provide any conclusion to all the plots in the first half rather created more redundant plots in the second
EDIT: I see a lot of comments saying they liked jigarthanda xx. It is mostly because they film is shot beautifully and its appealing to the eyes. Also screenplay and editing is so seamless and gives you the illusion that the movie is great. I agree Karthik and his team masters in technicalities. But story and scriptwise the movie is not good

DOUBLEX was entertaining in theatres mainly because of SaNa's orgasmic BGM and the western style of making. It was fresh to watch a Tamil film in western style. But as a cinema lover, this film's script is pure shit as VaaiSavadaal explained.
