    I own a Vitpilen and I think something is wrong with this bike. The vibrations are pretty smooth (through most of the RPM range) above 3K, there is an up and down quick shifter and much more useable power through the gears. I would ask about its maintenance.

    • @yu_azi
      @yu_azi 2 года назад +3

      Yeah pretty sure sth. is wrong with that bike. My Vitpilen still pushes past 6k rpm and since its a single cylinder the torque is nuts. However I’ve heard it has problems with the clutch and cylinder so that liquid from the clutch mixes with the oil from the cylinder and its quite common with the 2018-2019 version.

    Another 701 owner here (Svart, not Vit). An INCREASE in vibrations after 4k RPM is wildly, wildly wrong. That 690 engine is designed to get smooth-ER at higher revs. Purely from an engineering perspective, with 2 counterbalance shafts, what you were experiencing (I could literally hear it in your voice!) shouldn't be possible. I hope you'll give a better maintained example an aggressive rip! I've commuted and played on mine for years and it has the capacity to be an awesome, buttery smooth cruiser or a torquey bruiser in the canyons. Also... That quick-shifter is straight busted. All 701s came factory with one that, of course, worked in both directions.

  • @amoreg9866

    Vit 701 owner here. Something is up with your test bike. I did a 450km trip in one day, which included mostly highway, and my shoulders were sore at the end of the day from leaning forward. The vibes are not that bad.
    Definitely not the prettiest cluster, and the controls are minimal, but the bike is definitely not as bad as you described it. And it’s got more than enough power.
    In fact, watch the missenden flyer review of the bike.

      Same here I daily my Vitpilen 701 and is great all around, power delivery is more than enough for what I use it. I think most ppl is used to 4piston smooth motorcycles however this bike is a different breed and need to learn how to drive it and shift it, once you know that is just great motorcycle to ride and is simple as simple a modern motorcycle can be and i love that.

    I own Vitpilen 701 and daily commute on it. I have always loved big thumpers and my first bike was a SR500. So when I found the Vitpilen with a discount it was love at first sight. This bike works so well but there a few caveats. Firstly, vibes! You've got to enjoy vibes and don't mind holding gears because that's where the fun is on this bike. From 3k revs up to about 8k. Second, this bike works in certain environments. Definitely not all! I live in big city and regularly go mountain carving. In both these places it works well. This bike is so damn flickable!! However if you regularly travel on motorways this bike does get tiring a bit too quickly. Finally, when you get this bike in its natural environment, OMG is this thing fun!! The lightweight + WP suspension makes picking and holding lines so easy. In any curvy road you will keep up with anything and are rewarded so well. Those vibes let you know how hard you are pushing, the lightweight chasis loves to make the rear wheel squirm and the big thumper loves to pop and fart. When on song, it is intoxicating!! I am so grateful I've had this bike as it has taught me so much on how to ride fast. I really recommend this bike to someone who is relatively new to motorcycling, wants to learn how to ride faster (and safer) and appreciates the feels. I'm aiming to move on to the new XSR900 or Ducati Streetfighter V2, but damn I will miss this bike. Hope this is helpful!

      @@Bananamann24 it's on the limit on what I'd recommend for a first bike. 75hp on lightweight bike is nothing to sneeze at but it is never uncontrollable. You just got to be a bit careful, as you build your confidence this bike will ask you to do some silly things. Don't listen to it!!! Atleast within your first year

      Hi Daniel thanks for the review I enjoyed reading your review cuz I own it too and it is a different animal for the 4pistons motorcycle riders. It’s definitely different and rare however fun and really fun without been scary but It can always kill you if you disrespect the thing 🤣. I’m happy with it in love of the little maintenance and how agile and light is. I also do long rides and yes you need a rest after 2hrs but the looks and the rareness of it makes it a Unicorn 🦄

      I’m looking to trade my MT-09 for one of these 701s, preferably the Sumo or SMC-R. I just can’t stop myself from tapping into the power of the 09 and doing 25-50mph over way too often. The Yamaha triples BEG to be thrashed and they absolutely sing.
      I love how light this range of KTM/Huskys are and that they still pack a punch, but the price tags on them are keeping me away. I’m tempted to just get a DRZ to see if the sumo life is right for me (and to learn good wheelies on something cheap).

    You’re in too high of a gear, keep it revd up a little and the chugginess stops. The bar end weights aren’t put back on the bike so that’s probably why you’re getting vibrations in the handlebars. It has less than 1,000 miles on it so the maintenance is an oil change and chain adjustment. It was a close out from Gainesville motorsports… $5k new. Traded for $7k. $10k is a result of used prices being crazy! My sentiment was the exact same though. Loveedddd the looks, hated how it rode but for different reasons. I never had any vibration issues.

    • @AlfredoAnim
      @AlfredoAnim 2 года назад +1

      Completely missed the bar end weights being gone. Good catch. That being said, I own a Vit 701 and agree with one criticism from Chase. Sometimes I also don’t know exactly what gear the bike wants me in but that’s mostly because my last bike was a ZX6R and I also went about 5 years between the two. The more I ride, the better I understand it but it is MUCH different. Won’t be for everyone but sure is fun.

    • @kodywithak2276
      @kodywithak2276 2 года назад +2

      @@AlfredoAnim I gave mountain motorsports the stock mirrors and bar end weights, but for some reason they didn’t put them back on. I took the bar end mirrors and adapters off for my new bike. He was in 6th going 70 something. I rode it in 4th gear mainly on the highway, 5th if I didn’t need power available for overtakes. It just takes some getting use to the power band. I would usually instantly catch the sluggishness and downshift.

  • @WonderLOLrus
    @WonderLOLrus 2 года назад +3

    The stock gearing is too high at 16/40. 15/40 or 15/42 makes a big difference on all the gear ratios. Without the gear change/fuel mod gears 1-3 feels very awkward
    in town. Airbox lid mod helps gain some of the power back at cost of noise. I definitely still feel the vibrations thru the pegs/handlebars on the highway.

  • @KingFriday274
    @KingFriday274 2 года назад +5

    I have a svartpilen and I also think this bike has problems. It has tons of torque and power on the highway. It also doesnt shake noticeably. That said, I removed the bar ends in favor of mirrors and had to go back to the stock bar ends because of vibration. It will feel slow compared to an mt10. But faster than a sv650 or mt07. It wants to be ridden between 5 and 9 thousand rpms, and it likes lots of throttle, quick shifting works great on harder acceleration. The brakes are the best I've ever had, and I've owned a zx10r, an r6, and a zx6r. That bike has up and down quick shifter. I think the previous owner messed that bike up and your review is pretty unfair to ktm/husky.

  • @joevee9390

    I used to have a 2020 Svartpilen 701 which is almost the same bike. When you said the powerband was whack and the there's almost zero engine breaking I'm going to assume there's something wrong with the engine. In particular what comes to mind is the clutch cylinder issue which ends up spooging brake fluid into the engine oil accelerating engine wear.
    My bike also started getting iffy on other things so I traded it in for a Monster Plus

    It would have helped if they wouldnt have removed the balancing weights on the handlebar ends or if they mounted bar end mirrors. Quickshifter should work both ways, and acceleration is good on a wide rpm range on mine. There definitly seem to be some issues with it.

    It feels like the bike isn't break-in, your shift light goes off at ~6.8k rpm like before first service, the power band is between 6500 and 8-8.5k rpm. Also, vibrations under 4k rpm are worse, 6th gear under 60mph is jerky. The bike is fueled lean under 5.5k rpm so chopping the throttle under 6k rpm makes it kinda laggy and feel slow. I got to 126mph on my Svart and it felt like it could go +130mph but the wind was too strong for me, I don't feel it underpowered on the highway.

I find when I'm on the highway going 70 that 4th is where its comfortable and smooth. It's in the powerband so you have plenty of passing power. I'm only in 6th when I'm breaking the law.

This clearly has issues probably related to the recall for this bike. The only thing this review showed is the minimum effort put into prepping bikes for sale by this dealer, not how this bike actually is because this is a great bike minimum vibrations if you’re in the right gear has great engine breaking, all around super fun bike.

    Obviously it's a big single but KTM/Husky has been very proud of their 2nd counter balancer to cut down on high freq vibrations. Supposedly it's worked pretty well.
    As for power, it's mostly down low, hut it's still a solid 75 HP, with high enough gearing to allow you plenty of torque in 5th on the highway.
    I haven't heard anyone complain about the narrow power band, although I'm sure it's not gigantic.
    I would tell the dealer check for piggyback ECU, or injector/dongle fuckery.

    OC: There are people that will pay just for the way a bike looks… The controls and dash are lacking for a bike at that price, but there’s definitely something wrong with the bike you road, it should be smooth as at higher revs…

    Here in Ecuador a 2019 Yamaha MT10 costs $24.000, with 20.000 kms. A Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 costs $10.000. So… in here a husqvarna is the recommendation

    It's not in the market anymore, so I'm guessing Husky knew about the price problem.

    something wrong here, i have ridden both the last edition 690 duke and i own a 701. there are no vibes or shakes or fee;ings of instability, also i have a 790 and the 701 is off at the lights faster than the 790. shame you had a bad day on what the rest of the community says is a great bike.

    No love for the Vitpilen. 😂
    Both the vibrations and the motor seem to have some issues. I’ve never heard of vibration problems or lack of power band

    Meeen i have one, i dońt get it, it doesńt vibraré that much, and the power it is really really Food, it is better than the mt07, change the air filter, and the gears are really long when it is shaking it is because you has to down shift

    • @emmmanuel501
      @emmmanuel501 2 года назад

      It has counter weight so that the engine brake it is not that atronó, it lack engine brake at the end but, it make sense when you are in the twisties and down shift tonteras with the QuickPath shifter, the power band it is really short but brutal, it is one pony trick, but ponches next to a R1 and you are surprise

    Either you are the bike are malfunctioning,I own a svartpilen 701 and it's smooth for a single with tractable power from 3500rpm to the shift change light,it rips,is very quick for a naked 700 and handles perfect,strangest review I ever did see

    Respect the video, but I own a 19 vitpilen 701 and I disagree with most of the power, throttle response, and engine breaking sections of this video. If you're thumping along, you're in the wrong gear. Mine doesn't get really vibey unless I'm plus 90mph. Absolutely riding incorrectly. Cheers
