- Red Mountain Pass and the surrounding region of the San Juan National Forest in southwest Colorado is one of the most beautiful parts of this state. I got to spend 4 days shooting a bunch of friends snowboarding and snowmobiling around the mountain and really putting the Sony FX30 to the ultimate test of temperatures and slow-motion capture. I'm really happy with the results and I would say this is the camera for anyone looking for a budget video-specific camera. Could this camera possibly hold the title for best budget cinema camera? Hello everyone…here’s a link to some of the footage without the grain ruclips.net/video/HXB_5PDx-Aw/видео.html
Dope footage bro! Super jealous you got to have an epic backcountry day. I'm seriously considering the FX30 for my outdoor content too and your stuff looks fantastic. Nice work 👌🏻
Thanks so much I appreciate that! Yeah the FX30 was exactly the camera I was needing for outdoor stuff. If I didn’t already have a good body for photography I might have considered the A7 iv but for a dedicated video camera this thing hits the mark!
@@jordanvp the main issue I keep hearing from other RUclipsrs is the low light performance. Is it really THAT bad? I'm a simple man who loves creating basic RUclips cinema of the outdoors like yourself.
Yeah that’s actually something I’ve been wondering and have yet to see a good video about it. I hear two different opinions saying either it’s better than expected or absolutely terrible lol. Maybe I’ll get out and really test it in the outdoors soon.
@@jordanvp yeah it's kinda ridiculous to keep hearing about it but... Everything looks pretty great to me. I'm not trying to put something out in a cinema theater just make fun entertaining content that looks decent on RUclips 🤣 but I guess that's what happens when you slap a "cinema" marketing to it. Keep up the great work, man 🤙🏻
Great shots! I’m getting ready to list our BMPCC now!
Thanks bro! You should have all of them in the google drive folder now, feel free to do whatever you like with them!
Beautiful work! Love it!
Thank you!
Thank you for this video you have my respect sir.
Thanks so much for the feedback!
Perhaps a great b-cam for my Fx6 😅 good video 👏
Thank you!
Are you still using BlackMagic software for your color grading and editing?
Yep still using Davinci!
Definitely very convenient and useful, not sure the quality of the video is as good as the blackmagic, shadows are very noisy.
He had film grain on this.
In my experience shadows have been surprisingly clean up to ISO 6400 in S Log3...
BMPCC 6k Vs FX 30, if video quality is only considering, which one you suggest ?
That’s a very good question. To me, a lot of the image quality is dependent on the lens being used with each body. If you’ve got a decent cine lens something like a Xeen or the nicer Meike FF then I would say FX30. If you’re using lenses specifically for DSLR or mirrorless I would say BMPCC 6K due to the chromatic aberration. The FX30’s aberration is significantly less than the blackmagic when using a cine lens, but using a standard lens they’re about the same on that level and at that point, having 6K raw and some unique artifacts make the BMPCC stand out here.
Excellent.
Thanks Dan!
Yea the noise , or added grain confused me?
I sold my fx30 and bought a FX3. The image im seeing in this video is part of the reason. its inexplicable why this camera has so much noise. (its not the grain you added). the lack of details in the snow and trees and harsh highlight rolloff insures me the dynamic range on the camera is poor. Every short film ive watched from RUclipsrs have a similar look...the same look I got out of the camera. it exposes and grades really strange...well that was my experience anyway!
That's my take as well, Im not sure what all the fuss is about on the FX30. Its a really nice design (to look at) it would have been even better with the A7R5 rear screen, that really would have tempted me just for usebility. £200 more you can get yourself a S5II 🔥
FYI the guy added grain in post… before you start speculating
S5 is the same price and it's FF.
With more features that are in cinema cameras to boot.
I used a S5II on Saturday, a really nice camera, focus worked very well. Im not sure why the FX30 is called a cinema camera, when the S5II would seem closer to that description. The FX30 is a nice design, but I think theres a bit of clever marketing by Sony behind it.
Noisy
maybe you should take down this video because it confuses the people who watch it and they believe that the FX30 is a noisy camera. Your shots and talking are great so delete the added grain and re-upload :)
Yeah, been thinking I should do that, I think you’ve pushed me over the edge (in a good way haha).
@@jordanvp no offence, mistakes are always happening and bad luck also sometimes. No-one knows how RUclips is gonna behave those days with the compression. Keep up the good work !
Thank you for the encouragement, I appreciate when people don’t just get mad and leave negative comments…you’re right on, people make mistakes!
