Hi you may be able to help, trying to decide about getting EastFront, but there are just no reviews out there on you tube or impartial. Even BBG only has 5 comments??? confused as its 2020 now!!
Great review. I think it’s important to point out that movement costs are based on the hex side crossed and not the hex itself. This might be a new concept for seasoned war gamers. The hedgerow artwork, which doesn’t always lineup with the hex side, and rules were a major tripping point for me. Also zone of control is extremely important during retreats from close assault combat, I concept that is very thematic and one that I like very much. I’m looking forward to expansions as well.
saw this review. Didnt think much of it. Saw few other reviews. Totally impressed with the game. As you mentioned the hex side for traveling or firing out of, kind of is a game changer.
Got my copy about two weeks ago... punched everything out... and it is amazing! I can already see so many undiscovered options and new scenarios. *** Here's hoping that not only new maps BUT... some Eastern Front and Pacific Front versions will be forthcoming... this game has amazing "legs" and could really open up a new horizons for the war gamer... Keep 'em coming! Great review!
I like your accent and your reviews. My only concern with this game is re-playability. Is six scenerios enough? I prefer games that have you recreate actual battles that were fought and this game appears to have some made up scenarios. Launching Eastern Front version on KS so I am in wait and see mode.
Felt like you breezed over this game to quickly. This game offers quit a few unique mechanics (as 77thass mentioned), not found in a common wargame. I feel this review just made this game out to be as generic as possible.
Thanks for the kind words and thorough review of Combat Infantry

Review eastfront
How does it compare to Columbia’s other WWII tactics game?

Other than C&C, block games suck.
C&C really isn't even a block wargame lol. How about Julius Caesar? I like most of Columbia's games and rate many a 9 or 10.
