It boils down to the frequency you want to play. When selecting mids or horns. Some will play frequency that others don't. Why you run both so you get a better frequency range you can play.

I recommend that you do not mount 1-inch drivers because you can put a 2-inch driver in that place. What you have to do is put 2-inch drivers, you have to mix them between TI and PH. TI is for high frequencies and PH is for the lowest frequencies

I've been running 4 selenium dx-250's for a couple years. They're great for being louder than stock for cheap. An amp and dsp or good head unit make all the difference in getting as much range as possible.

The thing about horns is that your horn lense determines the lower limit that your horn can play, a 2 inch driver can play down around 700 to 600 hz but when its stuck on a horn that can only reach down to 1.5khz your leaving alot on the table.
