Disclaimer: Not all Barrett’s esophagus is precancerous. There are 3 types: Barrett’s with no dysplasia, Barrett’s with low grade dysplasia and Barrett’s with high grade dysplasia. Just didn’t want people to freak out if they have been given diagnosis of Barrett’s without dysplasia. Still needs to be monitored, but it isn’t precancerous at that stage.

@@debbiec6216Hi. You would need to see a gastroenterologist that can do a upper endoscopy. They will be able to see how your esophagus looks. You can ask your general doctor for for a referral or just look for GI doctors in your area. Good luck!

Hi Dr. I have had Gerd for several years and a hiatal hernia. Acid reflux has been so often I had to start sleeping sitting up. I how have Barrettes Esophagus and my Dr said it’s pre cancerous but only thing my Dr said was take PPI for the rest of my life and they will retest in 2 years to see if it turns to cancer. She said now that the cells learned how to change in my esophagus they may change again to cancer. I won’t take PPI, I do sometimes take tums😢I’m trying to do natural health for care so I can look for a chiropractor in Sacramento California. Why do doctors leave your hiatal hernia untreated when they know for years you have Gerd? Why not a surgery repair it? I hope chiropractic can repair the hernia. I don’t understand how it can be corrected with chiropractic but I’m willing to go see. I recently started doing intermittent fasting and it has helped my Gerd symptoms.

I have this issue. Every night I felt burp and boiling in my throat and I coughed. I got off sugar, carbs and processed crap I can’t call food and just eat from nature. Boom!!!!!! With another test they couldn’t find Barret anymore. But I take apple cider vinegar with mother before my meal each day not sure if I should stop or not. I hear as we age most people have low acid can cause many issues

@@Light_Worker hi! Great to know that your problem resolved after leaving sugar carbs and processed foods. How much time did it take to fix and did it fix on its own or did you also take any natural remedies or exercises

@@maadhavvdhawann558 it took three month for test to show negative. No Barrett,no Hpylori anymore. Docs were shocked too. When I got back to my primary and he asked me how did you do that? I told him that I research on my own and learned from Dr.Berg to change my diet. My primary didn’t like that and looked like he was offended.

I’ve had Barrett’s for about 20 years. My understanding is if I stop PPI meds my Barrett’s will get worse. Is this not true?

    • @marieparrott7944

I would imagine if you stopped taking PPI it would just make your symptoms more uncomfortable, as it is prescribed to help reduce the amount of acid your tummy produces….I am taking medication called Omeprazole ( may go by another name in other countries) but in UK 🇬🇧 Omeprazole is widely used for acid problems in the tummy..
Hope this helps..I was diagnosed with Barrettes Oesophagus in 2022 along with a Hiatus Hernia, may I ask do you suffer with painful throats? I also lose my voice too for a few days!! It’s not like having a sore throat it’s more of a pain rather than being sore….
      Take Care
Sending best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧 xx 😁😁 xx

@mindfulnessman8575 Do NOT stop your PPIs! There's a good thread on reddit about this too but I did it and thought I got through the blow back reflux, I had stopped coffee long ago, do not drink wine or alcohol. There's some research on it if I'd read I'd not have stopped. The hiatal hernia returned and the Barrett's, which had returned to two centimeters 8 months before grew to 4 centimeters. I had to wait 10 days for results from the endoscopy to find out I did not have dysplasia again after five years when it was painfully eradicated by radio frequency ablation-really painful. Great book called 'Drop Acid' and the author is a gastroenterologist who helps patients get off PPIs but you need a doctor. She is in eastern united states. Be careful! I hate meds, want to be just organic and alkaline food but I'd rather take PPIs than get esophageal cancer. Dismal recovery rate.

Ouch! Should go to an M.D. for Barrett's. This may irritate or worsen Barrett's.

Don't take ant acids that's the prob you need the acid in tummy or stops food digesting and valves closing as needs to be high pH, I was given ppi s 30 years , caused loads probs , watch and do all healthy stuff aloe vera is good quality one of course , this Dr and few others awesome natural advice and avoiding certain foods and eating smaller portions , but never take ant acids , had known years ago all you need is organic apple cider vinegar with the mother to treat any acid or indigestion probs , or if need extra get hcl with pepsin as they all help gut breakdown foods and pH so back up of foods by ant acids just add to the problem cause it
