  • Went to Takua Pa old town to have a look. A short 30-minutes road trip from Khao Lak. The old town is a small town with 5 main roads. It’s famous for its weekly Sunday market offering a variety of street food, snacks and crafts with a local fare and culture. It is also famous for its local Hokkien noodle, which I’ve tried and found it similar to our Penang style Hokkien char. A must when in this little town is to eat the local Hokkien mee and a visit to Kopi Kuapa.

Share with us where is Khao Lak? The Hokkien Char dish looks delicious and it must be. It's one of my favorites, I regularly cook it in Melbourne, I use fried prawn shells as the sauce base, similar to the one used by Singaporean Hokkien Char. It tastes delicious.
A variation to Hokkien Char is Hokkien Birthday Noodle which tastes equally delicious just different.

@@yttean98 the Hokkien Birthday Noodle is that the same as Hailam mee? Because to me the hailam mee tastes somewhat similar to Hokkien Char..and there is a place in George Town where people go and eat called “The Lighthouse cafe” on Penang Road next to Cititel hotel. Have you been there?
Khao Lak is a coastal town in Phang-nag province southern Thailand. Most tourist fly to Phuket airport and then travel there by road either by taxi, private car, bus. It’s about 1.5 hours drive. It’s quieter than Phuket and most tourists go there to relax and stay by the beach looking towards Andaman Sea. There is no big shopping malls. Hence, almost no China, Russian and Arab tourists 🤣. Khao Lak is where it was badly destroyed by the 2004 tsunami. Look it up in Google map.

@@foodtripwithvictor There are already TOO many cookbooks, even Nonya ones, even more cooking lessons on RUclips. They don't need me to tell/teach them. I learn all my tricks from above and watch Hawkers.
