I had a 1985 Toronado Caliente in 1997. It came in trade for a new 88 LSS and my dealership sold it to me for $1,700. It had 64,000 miles and was a magnificent machine. Now I have a standard 1985 Toronado brougham with 67,000 miles that I bought from Copart in San Jose for $650. It was a donation for a local charity.

My Folks bought 98s in the 70s and later 70s Toronados and then an 84 Toro Caliente and it was gorgeous. Better than any car of the time I think. I love Oldsmobiles of the late 60s to 76. And then these.

In the early 80’s I toured a GM factory and during the presentation the guide told us they had determined the precise amount of paint to apply. Only a few years later I would see many, many GM cars with oxidation and “thinning paint”, particularly on metallic paint.
    The Tornado is beautiful

I'm all about original. The trunk really isn't that bad and I'd rather leave that up to the next caretaker. Once you start painting sheet metal panels, it can raise suspicions and risk a not so perfect paint match.

Off white with matching interior and 1/4 top. 307 and a troublesome 325r4? otherwise a great car that was a absolute machine in the snow....the interior held up great...even in its off white color it cleaned up nice past 200k miles.
