Good stuff, as someone who draws and paints i can see how no program could replace the feeling of creating a physical mini from scratch but good point about using it as a spring board.

I love the orc paintjob, as well as the OSL on the shaman mini!
I have also found that Eldritch foundry and/or Heroforge are great as a free source material. I have taken a look into their libraries few times before when I needed an idea for armor piece or wanted to see a specific pose reference.

Great video Alex! This was a cool concept on the topic of minis. You made some really good points. For customizing minis and heroes sculpting your own really seems to be the way to go if you have the time/patience for it in terms of price. Something I’m struggling with is justifying the cost of making molds for miniatures such as monsters and making multiple copies, like skeletons, gnolls, and various monsters in DND that usually fight in groups. In this case I wonder if money would be better spent on buying packs of monsters , though I haven’t found a good line of minis that is a good compromise between price and quality for this. Maybe making molds of minis or options for this could be a good topic for you to cover in the future?

Really! A green Orc in red and white regalia? Is he a Santa fan?
Just kidding! Interestingly it doesn't seem to matter how you go about it, the end result is always creative and high quality. Very impressive!

EF uses a wax printer in order to avoid supports, that create a clean back but adds a sparkle feel to the minis. brush them with a toothbrush to get rid of it for a smoother look and feel.

Its so cool to see a competitor to Hero Forge. I thought they had a monopoly!

I have seen that game many times and have considered getting it for the minis alone 😂

I've actually thought of just ordering basic steps of different poses and races, then finish the printed versions with modeling.

do you need to prime your greenstuff minis before painting them or can you just paint them no problem?
