I have never heard of any of these people, except for Mr. Buffett (for obvious reasons). I'm absolutely fascinated by them. This is a great piece of documentary film.
The transition from Tom to Jim reading his poem is gorgeous and gut-wrenching. I'm also so glad the filmmaker was able to talk to Jimmy and Guy before they passed. I hope the restoration of Tarpon gets distributed somehow as well.
This is absolute gold! After living in the Keys for 25 years, this brought back so many great memories of a special place and a special time. I now live in Costa Rica & my sweet old hound dog, Otis, died yesterday and this was exactly what I needed to take my mind off of it, if only for 33 minutes. Thanks so very much 🙏❤️
Apparently, I am a parakeet, as my dad told me. I am proud to add that to my title. R.I.P. Jimmy. I'm glad to have seen you with my dad before the end of your career. I am forever grateful.
Just finished watching. It's 2am and I don't care that I have to get up to go to work. This really took me back, those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end.we'd sing and dance forever and a day. I can't tell you how much I loved this film, Thank you!
As a devoted 🦜 head, avid fly angler, lover of every word Tom, Jim and Jimmy wrote. This is a must see, without interruption or distraction. Waited months for this and loved every second. Thanks Yeti...Never had a bad time with you at my side or on my tailgate!
I was born and raised in Key West 1968. Thank you Yeti, for making this film available. Was too young to appreciate the uniqueness of the place but I treasure the memories I do have of that time.
What a wonderful film from a wonderful time of an incredible group of young friends. Selfishly I wish there was more. I guess we all do. Thank you so very much for sharing this beautiful snippet of lives so damn big that anyone willing can swim deeply in their wake.
This is amazing. I know Florida Bay well. To think they were out there in 1974, with no navigation and sometimes alone, blows me away. Those skifs back then, wow. The lifestyle of Key West bonds people in a way that cannot be explained. If you've ever spent any time there, or anywhere in the lower keys, you know what I am saying is true.
Just incredible. Fun to have these guys books and music all around… and have it all tied together in such a wonderful film. Excited when the tarpon film is ready to stream again.
I just finished reading Mile Marker Zero , The Moveable Feast of Key West..that book and this documentary pair so beautifully together. Thanks to Yeti for making this Gem.
I first visited Key West in 1977 in hopes of catching a tarpon on a DIY trip. How naive I was. I recently caught my first tarpon on a fly in Cuba.... after nearly 50 years of looking at it on my bucket list. This movie is amazing and brings to life many of my own dreams, pursuits and memories of that time. Thank you!
Thanks for this. Have been a Brautigan reader for years ('discovered' him early high school), and an outdoor and water person since I could walk. All these guys sensabilities resonate with me. Really nicely done.
This is the best documentary I think I've ever seen. I remember those times in Key West and did not know much about these great creative men. I keep going back and watch this over and over, again and again. ❤
I had to shed a few tears of joy. Being present in that time & space in Key West was such a magical time we didn't even realize how well we had it! Wish it wouldn't had changed. Feeling Blessed to have known these talented people! ❤
What an incredible film showcasing the love of a very special place and the bonds they each shared. Thank you for showcasing this incredible friendship.
What a wonderful film. I loved so many parts of this.... the quote by Carl Hiaasen “I could live to be 100 and never be able to write that sentence…” was cool. Thank you Yeti and very well done.
What a look back, talking about and talking to some of those that gave the rest of us things to read, songs to sing, remembering some of the best times on the rock…
What a pleasure to watch. I wish my dad was still here to watch this film, he would have loved it. We spent quite a bit of time in the keys fishing in the early 70's. I was a small child and don't remember much but I know my dad would have. Thank you.
I don’t comment on RUclips often. Thank you Yeti for this film. About a year ago I discovered Jim Harrison’s writing and my life was changed. I heard about the Tarpon film and I look semi-regularly to see if it’s been released yet. I’ve been on a long fishing trip without much and to come back and see this documentary about it was beyond surprising. I urge anyone here to read Jim Harrison’s writing. His words and characters and view of places have truly been a huge part of my life the last year. I’ve read a bit of McGuane as well and it’s beyond clear how close the two were. Just do yourself a favor and read either of them, but Jim especially deserves close attention. The transition into Jim reading his own poem was beautiful. Thanks Yeti.
Thank you. I was just down here this week, and you taste a glimpse of what has been in the spirit of the guides that have been there for decades. I reccomend getting interviews of the guides now while you still can because they are the bridge between then, now and the future.
Thanks for publishing this after the teaser a few weeks ago. This stuff right here, along with the Walker's Cay Chronicles are what fuel my passion for fly fishing. Epic work and outstanding job Yeti!
Only a week ago I finished reading Jim’s complete collected poems- a reminder of what has been lost. Each winter I read Tom’s great tome on fly fishing, “The Longest Silence.” During this past summer I read Guy’s two volumes on bird hunting and his farm in Florida. These men were the same generation as my father. I followed their careers and sports writing, along with the likes of Nick Lyons and many others. There is something otherworldly about a truly gifted writer who is also deeply invested with fly fishing that it blends their worlds into that sacred space we feel but struggle to articulate. When Tom passes, the end of an era will pass as well. I see no one on the horizon to fill the void. The best of what once was will be no more.
I read as much as any man I know and I am quite embarrassed that I have never been exposed to Jim Harrison and Tom McGuane books. I am rectifying that as I write. Great documentary. I cried a little.
This film was passed around my friends and their fathers, definitely hits a special spot in all our hearts growing up listening to Jimmy as a child and reading McGuane and Harrison
The legends once flickered like brand new stars, My time to join them is not that far. A few more dances, then a cosmic leap, I'll join the greats, to forever sleep.
Thank you for making this. It means more than you know. This film might not mean much to the average person, but to someone who’s called Key West home, it means everything.
I always thought I would cross paths with Harrison. I sold wine. I fished the same streams. This is both lovely and heart renching. I'm in Driggs Idaho Mr McGuane if you'd like to fish. The Longest Silence.
There’s so much to unwrap in this 30 minute film it’s remarkable. Precious friendship, a timeless talent bed of interesting people, the dream of fishing tarpon experienced by few, and cultural acquiesce. It’s like a broken drum, you can’t beat it.
Wow! Incredibly well done. The scene with McGuane reading Jim Harrison’s poem that transitioned into a video of Harrison completing it was powerful and poignant. Not too mention seeing Jimmy Buffet so soon after his death…… Great work!
Beautiful. I caught this movie on a flight earlier this summer and it really stayed with me. The music and the storytelling are right on, perfectly woven together into a really touching short film.
I have never heard of any of these people, except for Mr. Buffett (for obvious reasons). I'm absolutely fascinated by them. This is a great piece of documentary film.
Like the lives this film celebrates, I didn’t want it to end. Thank you, Yeti.
I could’ve listened and watched for 3 more hours!
Beautifully said
Indeed. This will be in high rotation. Damn fine work.
The transition from Tom to Jim reading his poem is gorgeous and gut-wrenching. I'm also so glad the filmmaker was able to talk to Jimmy and Guy before they passed. I hope the restoration of Tarpon gets distributed somehow as well.
I agree. It’s hard to see JB in this film knowing he’s not here.
The restoration is available to buy. It’s a great watch
@@areed145 Could you tell me where? The film's website has just said it will be available to stream soon for at least a year now.

This is absolute gold! After living in the Keys for 25 years, this brought back so many great memories of a special place and a special time. I now live in Costa Rica & my sweet old hound dog, Otis, died yesterday and this was exactly what I needed to take my mind off of it, if only for 33 minutes. Thanks so very much 🙏❤️
hey there, can tell by that name that he's a good dog. all the best to you.
and best to Otis!
So sorry about your dog, I had a precious one named Otis as well. Really enjoyed this film too.
Jimmy says he can’t believe he’s that old and says he feels younger. When he says it his gulf coastal accent comes out. That made me tear up.
Me, too.
never thought a cooler company would make me cry like that. good shit
I've been dying to see this since I first learned it existed. Thank you so much for making it freely available.
Same...
Me too
Hey, Jim. We miss you.
Apparently, I am a parakeet, as my dad told me. I am proud to add that to my title. R.I.P. Jimmy. I'm glad to have seen you with my dad before the end of your career. I am forever grateful.
Didn’t know anyone in this film except for JB, but now having watched it I want to know so much more about them all and their time in KW.
Hits you in the feels and lets you know there will never be another time like this...especially with artists of this caliber. Amazing stuff.
Just finished watching. It's 2am and I don't care that I have to get up to go to work. This really took me back, those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end.we'd sing and dance forever and a day. I can't tell you how much I loved this film, Thank you!

Great movie. R.I.P. to all those we've lost
I was born and raised in Key West 1968. Thank you Yeti, for making this film available. Was too young to appreciate the uniqueness of the place but I treasure the memories I do have of that time.
A film like this makes you cherish the good times while you’re still in them. Brilliant.
Bravo Ballew and Yeti Crew. The world needed to see this.
What a wonderful film from a wonderful time of an incredible group of young friends.
Selfishly I wish there was more. I guess we all do.
Thank you so very much for sharing this beautiful snippet of lives so damn big that anyone willing can swim deeply in their wake.
one of the best "fishing" videos on all of youtube for sure 🤙
This was incredible. I wish it was 2 hours. Well done to all the crew.
It could’ve gone on and on and on, and I would’ve just sat there and watched..✅🙌🏼
Wow, incredible film.
Reading Brautigan religiously at the moment and writing my own book. Thank you!!

Just finished “The Longest Silence”. This gives it so much more life, great job!
Wow, it would have been a great place to hang out with those blokes.
It took me awhile to get a dvd copy of Tarpon. I got my hands on one a few years ago. It’s out there. Great film.
I nabbed one also. love it
