I’m looking at the situation without looking at the buddy buddy or Homie rules, this is strictly an employer who fired an employee for wanting more money as an employer if you wanted certain things not to leak you should’ve had an NDA or pay The Man.
Imagine you work for a company this company divulges all of their trade, secrets, and other messy business that could potentially expose things they don’t want to get out to you. You put in work and work harder than most of your counterparts and after a while you think that you deserve a little more for the work you put in so you ask your company for a raise. In response, they fire you now you’re out looking for a job or trying to network within the space that you have created a name for yourself in. In that networking, you find yourself at your former employers competition, you do some networking and create content with your former employer competitors and now you get an email or a call from the people that fired you and they say we think it’s a little weird that you would go to the competition and share things that we didn’t like you to share and they question your loyalty and character. Would you not tell them to suck you fuck off my phone r oh ye and mal lol

What I take from this. Julian was a month to month contractor. They didn’t ended the contract. Now that he’s a free agent, he feels free to speak to whomever he pleases. Doing so during a contract would be a conflict of interest.

If an athlete wants a certain amount for his next contract and the team he's with won't pay it, is he not allowed to talk to another team? If you work in a specific industry and your company fires you, are you not allowed to interview with a competitor? Mal said it was a 'business decision', implying they owed him nothing - it goes both ways.
