      As a tourist you can only enjoy India if you visit the RIGHT places. Visiting cities can quickly turn your tourist trip sour as they are not anywhere NEAR European or American infrastructure except for few tier 1 cities especially in the southern side. The ugly side of India is not something which can be digested by everyone. It still needs time to mature and civic sense to prevail. A good itinerary is ESSENTIAL to enjoy India to the fullest.

With the property empty it would be nice to have one category upgrade... we also had a problem and duty manager is not able to solve anything. I left with a feeling if this place would be managed by Oberoi, could be one of the best hotels in the world!

    • @tfft
      @tfft  7 месяцев назад +1

      For properties where a penalty is applied, there are two score cards. The first is the "Property Score" (92/100) which is what I think the average guest can expect when everything is working as intended. The second score card (shown right after the first) is "My Impressions" score which takes into account the 10 point penalty for the AC problems during my stay. So my overall impressions of 82/100 is correct. Thanks for watching 🩴

    Gorgeous property. Decor is totally to my taste if I had that kind of budget 😊. What I found startling around 04 :24 into the video, it looks like someone spat betel nut juice on the wall and left a stain. Maybe a souvenir from the old ruins days. It is in a desert, and I appreciate the difficulties associated with running an air-conditioned property fashioned from an old fort. However, at $800 a night, they need to try a lot harder. As for not having a specialty Indian restaurant and having the musicians as a background act, I believe it is deliberate as they are trying to cater to a certain demographic.

    • @tfft

      I disagree, recovery at a Leela, Oberoi or Taj is just about as high of a standard as you can get- if anything, the culture in most situations makes recovery better in India, which is why this property stuck out like a sore thumb.

    Beautiful rstoration work🤩 Authenticity is very much preserved. Given the limited number of such hotels and rooms available to what extent do you think the letdown service will affect the decision of potential guests to visit the property?

    • @tfft
      @tfft  7 месяцев назад

      Not much honestly and this is why I introduced the penalty system instead of just deducting from the basic score. In all likely hood, someone at IHG will see this video and at some point all of the ACs will be property checked/repaired if that hasn't already been done. I think there's a big distinction between things that go wrong that are 'fixable' or preventable as compared to a flawed hotel in general. Service needs to be worked on here, but it wasn't a disaster. My own review wouldn't disuade me from going if I really wanted to see it, if that makes sense haha. Thanks very much for the support 🙏

    India is an amazing contrast. Filthy waters with heaps of plastic rubbish roadside. Stunning scenery and craftsmen so skilled. Children emerging from huts in muddy tracks beside the highway in pristine school uniforms with shirts so white they almost glow. The smell of cow dung and spices and petrol all mixed together. Go and be shocked and dazzled but never bored. Just go!

    Another great video Kevin, But at 600 in low season in the middle of nowhere in India with no working air condition, I think this is a way overpriced property. Pool looks lovely but even at high end hotels, tranquility in pools while staying in India is luck of the draw. No thank you.

    Stunningly beautiful, but ... as soon as you mentioned the lack of air conditioning in the bedroom and the poor attempts at service recovery, I lost interest in this property. I cannot imagine driving three hours for a room where I cannot sleep well with that kind of heat (110F, 43C).

    The trouble is all these hotels stand out like an Oasis in the middle of chaos that is India. Most streets are so dusty with dilapidation and rubbish all around I really feel suffocating just looking at them. Unless they develop like SE Asian countries all this sounds meaningless.
