Such an outstanding author! Deep, profound, slow-paced thought and speech. That quiet voice. Thanks so much for sharing! Best wishes Mr. Powers

Yes, Mr. Alvarez said it below. A very very thoughtful, insightful person, a poet and a genius.

Yes. Robert Macfarlane is my hero ... all of his books are inspiring and his last book "Underland" is stunning.

Mmm, his voice triggers the ASMR in me!
His voice sends shivers down my spine & goosebumps up & down my arms & neck. =oD
He's got such a soft, soothing voice that I'm absolutely hypnotised by it. Mmmm... =o)
I don't know what he's talking about (yet!), but it'll soon sink in after I've listened to it about 3 or 4 times over!
Shame the quality of the recording isn't so great. But it IS at least enough for me to have that ASMR triggered. Yay!
ASMR = Auto Sensory Meridian Response
(I'm sure that most of you lot probably know about ASMR aready... For me it's basically a shiver down the spine, or rather UP the spine, & with a tingle not unlike mild pins & needles.BUT also with a very, very, slight shiver that's reminiscent, for me, of the beginning of an orgasm!! LoL! =oD Honestly!)
So, anyway, THAT'S what this guy's (Richard Powers') voice does for/to me! No rhyme nor reason for it. Just does... =o)

it uncontested that plants and trees lean toward sun light and warm and cold but Ive never seen trees or plants respond to other than physical conditions around them.

if more people would walk every day would you regret the loss of solitude and privacy you as a walker now enjoy? If there were more walkers in my town I would more than regret it. In my town and anywhere in the county there are very few quiet roads and no parks or woods. its all been destroyed by overpopulation and developers.

Yes, this a conundrum I think of often here in Sussex, England. As lockdown eased lots more people went out in to the natural hotspots, understandably so, however there has been a lot of disregard for ancient barrow sites with free campers leaving everything including the tent along the magnificent South Downs Way. Hopefully as more people enjoy the natural landscape they'll become more aware of their impact but until then, their fire pits destroy wildflower downland. I have to say I enjoyed the extra quiet hills and found the loss of silence and solitude a jolt!
