I would like to add that I am continuously impressed with the Angel Philia dolls' quality. Since I am a very practical person, here is my piece of advice - the cheapest way to buy a new AP girl is via Mandarake directly. Although Faithz is a great dealer, but their prices are on a high end of the scale. The AP doll you usually pre-order on the Faithz will be then available on Mandarake anyways (once the doll released).
In terms of MDD Mochi Ashi body - the hips are adorable. I have no regrets at all and I do not need anime head for it too lol. In my case the 1/4 scale MSD resin head fits pretty well with no or a very minimal adjustment.

If you ever wanted to put an AP head on the mochi body, I believe CoolCats has adapters that allow you to put obitsu heads on Volks' bodies. Some people have also switched out the lower legs/feet with MDD, I believe. The only downside to the mochi/MDD f3 frame is the shoulders get loose after playing/posing.
But thank you for the comparison. I did want to see what the AP tan looks like against the Volks' tones, since I'm currently waiting on my first AP girl to come.

What is a good bjd for beginner collectors? I have no idea where to begin. I don't mind saving my money, I think its worth it. But money is sort of an issue
I think you need to decide what sort of BJD do you want. Do you actually want a BJD or a vinyl articulated doll? Are you looking for realistic sculpts or anime or fantasy or else? I would advise to look in the Internet and see what dolls catch your eyes. There is no straight answer to your question I am afraid.
