Seems like an incredible bass for the money. I have an Ibanez mikro which I love. Changed the roundwounds for flatwounds and the sound is fantastic. I’m sure with some tweaking wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a seriously more expensive model.

They pack a lot of value into their guitars, no matter the price point.

Hello i just brought one of these, when u said with some tweaking the sound would sound like a more expensive bass. Would you recommend I take it to a Sam Ash store to have that done or would they or could they do these tweaks. Also u recommend i change the strings from round to flats. I would appreciate your feedback

What's the right gauge for the Mikro?

Great review thanks for the upload.😎
....this review highlights why after 50 odd basses and 15 years playing I've gone back to passive, too complicated and nothing you can't replicate on the amp EQ.
I tell a lie, my only active keeper is a Spector but they have a unique tone and playability.

i'm gonna get the weathered black one, it was the first bass i saw when starting to look for a first bass, and i keep coming back to it after researching every other bass in that price range.

It does have a certain je ne sais quoi about it... (a quality that cannot be described or named easily).

Got myself one of these when I spotted one advertised on FB marketplace a couple of years ago. All it lacked was a 9V & its strap buttons (it had been owned by somebody who'd used a locking strap at some point). Tested it, battery worked fine and I just added the buttons from my Warwick. Wasn't complaining at £95/$119 anyway, as the thing was in almost mint condition.

@@2thePtBassTuTthank you. I loved the "E" enough that Ive got hold of a 2018 Candyapple SR300EB last month, trading in a couple of cheaper basses for a straight swap. Even came with a proper protective hardcase, £280 in total.
      Can't beat that mahogany body.
By the way, your's has a really nice finish 👏 👌

I found problems with a PW SR300 I'd bought from new, sold to a friend. The screws holding the pickups were in an uncomfortable position for my thumb & I didn't want to ruin it if I customised it.
Got hold of a nice cheap 2017 SR300E a few years later and it's faultless. Cost around $119(£95) preowned but almost new condition.

IMO having owned one, I do not recommend this or any Ibanez at this price point. All the tone customization is too much. It sounds unremarkable at every sound it goes as well as not feeling or playing particularly special. You can spend $100 less for other brands like Jackson, Squier, or Fender and get more value. Ibanez always looks cool though....

Having owned a Squier and a Fender, and having tried a Jackson at a music store, I have always gone back to the Ibanez. The neck is nice and thin, and I find the tone customization handy, but not overly so. I have kept the same settings for months at a time.
