I like that the commentators seem surprised ;p I wonder did they ever saw Michalczewski before ;ppp,
I'm sayting this because ... well it was just typical Dariusz.
Stamina for ... 20 rounds (sometimes he was training with football Bundesliga / II Bundesliga teams pre-season, which at that times meant running to the mountains etc. :) ), always moving forward and forward, don't like to clinch AND instead of being slower, round by round he was getting faster and faster, his left stiff job was becoming ultra precise, reaching overall peak at around rounds 7-8. Even if the boxer was (much) taller he always received huge amount of these left jabs.
That's why there was this general prediction that if Roy Jones Jr wouldn't catch him in first 2-3 rounds (due to Roy's blazing speed), he would get completely outplayed later, because Roy's stamina was far, far worse and he wouldn't survive Michalczewski's pace (and pressure) increasing round by round.
And he actually never met such robot-precise leff stiff jab.
Yes, I may be biased but Michalczewski at his peak certainly had his chances against Roy. It's a shame that fight never happened.
Yes, referees in Germany were biased, so in US, and Roy's team had a history of actually avoiding boxers at their peak time, so it's not only Michalczewski who was avoided
Michalczewski on the other hand took what he could - don't forget that he was a simple-minded boy from Poland who at the young age decided to escape communist country, move to Germany to be able to actually become pro-boxer. In Poland he most probably would gone into the wrong / bad direction and he would never become world champion in any category, any organization :(
So yea, I can't blame him that maybe he also wasn't 100 % into fighting Roy in US too. He had it's own advisors for sure.

What a brilliant post you wrote here , couldn't agree with you more , absolutely spot on with description of DM, who was for me, the best LHW of the 90s and sadly underrated by many Boxing fans who aren't even aware of the facts that he was the Top Dog of the Division after his deserved win here against V Hill only to have his WBA and IBF Titles stripped away from him not long after. 🥊🥊

Great work-rate by Michalczewski - every time he was in range, he let his hands go.
Virgil Hill was used to the more pedestrian pace of his earlier fights, but Michalczewski was having none of it.

If I was a boxer & had Teddy as a trainer, he would drive me crazy - he keeps contradicting himself.

Unfortunately for Michalczewski , this victory would count for nothing because of the childish and cheating actions of the American Boxing Authorities , who robbed him of his WBA and IBF Tiles which he won here , brought them back to the US allowing Roy Jones to hoover them up V lesser Class Guys like Lou DelValle and an old Reg Johnson , whose best days were gone . The WBC and Jones also screwed Rocchigiani out of his Title in 98 , meaning that Jones didn't have to fight any of these Guys in Germany or anywhere for that matter . For me , Darius Michalczewski was the best LHW of the 90s , not the ducking and cheating Jones .

Still, Dariusz was still the lineal champion. Aplhabet belts don't mean that much.

@@MaccaveliPL I agree with you totally here , Alphabet Titles don't mean that much , especially if you steal them from their rightful owner , like what Jones did with Rocchigiani in 98 with the WBC LHW Title , or , when he won them from lesser Guys like Delvalle and old Reggie Johnson , after being stolen from Michalczewski , absolutely no glory or honour in that , all the best , take care .

@@francishegarty8087 I still think RJJ would defeat Michalczewski if they fought. But he didn't and Dariusz was the rightful champion.

@@MaccaveliPL That's fair enough Maccaveli , I admire your honesty and knowledge and at least have the courage to admit Michalzewski was the Rightful Champion . You may well be right , Jones may well have beat him but for me , it would have went the distance , the Guy fought like a Dog , Jones would have had to go to War with him , and the same goes for Rocchigianni and Collins , all cut from the same cloth , and they were never Koed in 140 Contests between them , this is why I get frustrated with him and will never give him a free pass or credit for Guys he just didn't want to fight . It's refreshing to read your comments thanks , take it easy , all the best .

@@francishegarty8087 to me, Jones was always a tad overrated. I always felt his competing in various weight classes overshadowed his actual skill & opponent quality. I wasn’t surprised at all when Jones was KO’d by Glen Johnson & Target.
