I pot plants up using moist soil. It's really more of a preference thing. Also, you remind me of my SIL a lot, both in looks and the chaotic tendencies. We love the chaos, don't apologise for it! ❤

I like watering certain plants after repotting to see how the soil settles sometimes their is air bubble and water collapses the soil and leaves it unstable. so you can fill it in better and make the plant fit better. Also you see how it takes water and how quickly the water dries for tahy particular plant so you can adjust it if it's not working out.. But some plants i don't water if they have been watered recently or are succulent in nature that do better being dry or have been watered recently. I would just spray them with water lightly on the soil. With desert roses it's better to let them acclimatize before watering when you have repot them their roots need to settle a bit before full on watering. Just plants prone to over watering or sensitive to water and have to be watered a certain way I don't water unless I really need to see how the soil is going to go when it's watered. Some soil dissolves away. I used to water everything in repotted and sometimes it helped the plant with transplant shock and sometimes it worsened it because it's too much water too soon so it caused rot and it dried out too slow. So it overwhelmed the plant. Repotting is sometimes so satisfying and sometimes it just is annoying because you are not in the mood or the Repotting does go south and you hurt the plant by accident. That to me is the worst. Your excited to give a plant fresh soil, a bigger pot and a happier home for their roots and then you have a blunder. Or when you repot and the plant just doesn't like it. Some plants are picky. Maybe it had to do with soul pH and such. And we use a certain brand that may be more alkaline or acidic and the plant likes neural soil or alkaline and the standard soil mix is acidic.
Something I don’t like about the plant hobby is the hassle it is to move with hundreds of plants, and if moving to another country then having to just start over basically.

My friend who’s a red head feels exactly the same way you do and I never noticed until I met her (she explained) how those with red hair are spotted out of the crowd more easily than those with other hair colors - visually and figuratively! Also I’ve watched a video about Hoyas and it said that the spot where the flower bloomed will be where future flowers come from! So if you propagate and put the node with the flower into soil, the flower can in theory bloom again!! 🌸
