    I made my own version of this over 4 years ago, and it is such a nice option, and really saves on the router (bearing, and brush wear.)...nothing worse than to finish a job only to leave the machine router screaming while it waits for you to turn it off....since I do a lot of light-outs machining this was a must have. This is a nice option for those owners who don't feel comfortable with a component level DIY.

      Or those who want to pass more power (since apparently a lot of the IOT relays have a much lower amperage rating than the BitRunner does)

    It is rare to see such friendly and sincere presentation of a product. I don't own a shapeoko, but if i'm buying another router i'll seriously consider it. The device you've shown seems to be very useful.

    If you are not planning on making more, any chance of you putting up the board schematics, parts list etc so we can make our own on our Shapeokos?

    Sold out fast, I think the community have voted with our wallets here. I hope carbide 3d will release something similar to this again or reconsider discontinuing the bit runner already.

      I was one of the beta testers. It had no problem powering my fairly beefy shop vac and carbide router. I know that's one of the things they had people test to make sure it would hold up.

    So in an emergency you have to make sure you carefully move the switch to the middle? Seems like an oversight not to have `off` at an end position.

    • @dragoncracker
      @dragoncracker 4 года назад

      having not looked at the board or electrical schematic I can only assume there is an electrical reason for this. Something along the lines of not wanting to introduce a large spike electrically to the board via eddy-currents or backfeed

    • @Archer198026
      @Archer198026 3 года назад

      @@dragoncracker The reason is even simpler. The switch connects the middle pin to either the right or left pin. In the middle position, no outer pin is connected

    Hello Winston, I have been hanging onto my Shapeoko (S01) for years now, have upgraded it numerous times meaning expanded rails, spindle, motors and much more but one thing I have never upgraded is my controller. Always talking about it just never have. I have become a huge fan of Carbide Create and use it extensively now. I am curious, one thing I would like to do is upgrade my controller to the new Carbide controller and be able to use Carbide Motion and the bit setter. of course the Bitrunner would also be a great addition. If I purchase the deluxe Bitrunner that comes with controller would this allow me to upgrade my old (S01) to the current Shapeoko and be able to use Carbide Motion and all of its features? Thanks Doug

      The 2.4e controller board is designed specifically for NEMA 23 motors We can't guarantee it wouldn't cause unintended side effects when connected to NEMA17's.

    How come a single connector in the reto-fit option adds $70 ?

    • @BobGarrett66
      @BobGarrett66 4 года назад +5

      Anton Gabrie I agree. At first this seemed pretty great. I have a 2.4e board with the pin out. The 6 pin connector and a hole in the metal cover that I can drill myself in the one I have is not worth $80, much less $150. I think we missed the mark here guys. I love my machine and have purchased other add-ons but this is starting to sound like “nickel and diming” loyal customers. Not good.

    Question, @ 4:04 you recommend to switch off the router. Can you set the bit runner to off instead?

    • @sanches2
      @sanches2 3 года назад

      This is just in case - for your safety. I design safety related electronics. Can't stress enough how even the safest electronics design is not safer than having a big mechanical switch set to 'OFF'. It requires courage to come out and say "guys, just to be sure that something stupid doesn't happen, while you change tools, please, turn the switch to off". Even if the electronics is perfectly fine, your cat can jump on your keyboard, resume the program, while you change the bit and turn your fingers into a burger.

      Sweepy should be back in stock this month.
      And Carbide is able to offer all these things because we work on things in parallel. We should all be glad the supply chain for Sweepy is different than the supply chain for everything else...
