It's a fascinating doc - I wish more museums and archives would do this "behind the scenes" type video. For anyone interested in history it's important to know how these things were done and delivered to us to experience. Steve was one of Oklahoma's true musicologists and historians. He shared so much of what he did and mentored numerous artists. Thanks for this.

I cannot thank you enough. My Daddy was Jimmie Widener. He was one of the original Texas Playboys and they are all gone now. I was missing him so much tonight and then I happened upon your video. Thank you so much for saving this. His Great Grandchildren and all those forthcoming will be able to hear their voices. Also for a heartsick, grieving old daughter allow a time trip back to hear his voice and guitar. Thank you and God Bless your hearts for doing it.

Just found this and I want to Thank You for doing this. My Daddy (Jimmie Widenenr) was one of the original Texas Playboys. I grew up on this music ,quite literally . It is a comfort to see this being done. I can tell his grandchildren and great grandchildren can listen to their Granddaddy sing. Thank you once more.

....from a fairly recent, but now, a HUGE admirer of Bobs music.

As someone who does similar work on a smaller scale and without any real budget here on my RUclips page, it is interesting to see this work. I am eventually going to have to go back through albums I have digitized just to run programs to remove hiss and pops just like this had to be done here.

I am so glad Steve Ripley did the
recording enhancements. I think he has the best musical ear of anyone in Oklahoma.

I got to do a short tour with some of the Playboys through Oklahoma in the 80s And was trying to put together the New Texas Playboys in Ft Worth and a movie called “Deep Within My Heart.” It was a great idea with Johnny Gimble producing the group and we had a label that was very interested Warner Bro’s West. But I’ve never ran into a harder project in my life, ever. And some Playboys told me there could be and probably would be trouble with certain people and oh boy they were right. Lol.
