This was so much fun 😂😂 Please subscribe if you want to see more videos. I also have a baby on the way and want to keep doing this for a living... your subscription helps🗿 Where should I stealth camp next?? I probably need to go to Whole Foods... Bible verse of the video: Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand"
In the uk, being a trades van eg plumber, would likely cause break ins for tools. Another stealth van customiser I watched used an Asbestos Removal sign which is probably a better idea or even rat catcher maybe. Anything that would put thieves in fear.
My neighbor put up a a sign to stop people going down the driveway. It said, “Rattlesnake Ranch.” It worked until a drunk cowboy 🤠 wanted a real rattlesnake hat band😆. They took it down 😁
Bro should add a security camera either on the inside facing out the window or on top somewhere drilled in so he could see when someone bangs on the sides or back
I think a possible good way to stealth a van like this is to go with a security company, instead of a plumbing company. Makes it easier to explain away the living quarters inside. Security guards are often tasked with staying on a site overnight, and sometimes just need to make themselves comfortable in their own person vehicle if the company doesn't provide them with a company vehicle. I was generally thinking, if it wasn't so expensive to do, it would be nice to have a van like this to sit in during my overnight shifts.
Why does he have to explain anything .not trying to be a dick . Just honestly wondering we have become way to comfortable with our basic liberties being tread on .
Nah i dont think thats a good idea. Wat if their happens to be a crime near by or vandalism on the overnigth property one stays at. Cover would be blown.. and or wat if the actual security guard for the place start asking questions because he thinks some other company has been contracted by his employers.. it would burn the site and you would not be able to comeback to it. i guess it works if your constantly moving spots
@robsantana629 It's not for looks. It's for strength. Now he has a seam which can (will) buckle and take dirt in. Both parts will get uneven, catch your shoes etc. and eventually it'll come loose. If you stagger the panels, the structural strength will be much greater.
this guy gets embarrassed when one or two people see him doing weird things while also consistently uploading videos to millions of people by his own will doing the exact same thing
He should be embarrassed by begging for more money when he has over 1MM subscribers and over 100MM views which means he has made millions from this channel already. Enough to retire yet he is still fleecing the flock. And PS rescuing one dog is a start, but some of us have rescued 100's. Be thankful for what you have as it could all disappear overnight. POOF 🌪️
So, a bit of timely advice... For the ceiling panel, one-man, apply construction adhesive and then push it up in place. Then you can secure it with screws, as needed.
I was frustrated he didn't stick the drill in his belt. You don't need a special tool belt or pouch to just stick a drill in there for a few minutes. He also could have just bought and screwed in two metal brackets to act as temporary board holders (shelves) at the cab end of the vehicle while he put screws in the board at the back end and worked his way toward the cab.
Depends on where you're at and how people are. There's a place marked truck parking ok that's usually fine for a few days but pulling into a shared lot with the hardware store and in n out burger, cops called after not even an hour. I was shopping at the hardware store and loading the RV when they rolled up and made a very direct look at the burger place about why they came out
@bigsmoke167 Unfortunately it's a toss-up nowadays and mostly the answer is no, that's mainly because there aren't anymore 24-hour Walmarts. But typically the go-to stealth camping locaiton is hotel parking lots cause a lot of real van drivers for small businesses have a stay at a hotel paid for them by their employers.
I am 72 years old lady and came across your YT channel the one you bought $6000 van. You are very lovely and lively such of full energy, easy to understand your working process. Now I am already your fan club from Thailand. Forgive my English, I haven't use your language for a long time.
For doing ceilings by yourself, you need to build a "deadman". Take scrap pieces of wood, nail them together into an "I" shape, slap some old carpet on the ends, then use it to hold one end while working on the other. An even easier way is to take a fir strip, fasten it to one end where you want the panel on the ceiling, use the deadman for the other, and you're hands are now free to ensure the fit is tight while fastening to the ceiling.
Or just hold it up tight with one arm and blast a couple quick screws in, sheets that size really aren't that heavy to hold up for a few seconds and he didn't seem to care much about screw placement.
quick hint for those trying to put up 4x8 on your van ceiling lol. Get a tube of sticky glue, cover the back and stick it to the ceiling making sure to put enough on the parts that connect. This way it will stay up while you drill it tight. I learned i had to do this while redoing trailers underneath them after fixing plumming, etc. Trying to put up 4x8 sheets by yourself in a 3 foot space under a mobile home, isn't going to work unless you glue that puppy first and stick it up, THEN you can drill and secure it as needed.
I was gonna suggest cutting a couple of extra boards the height of the modified interior to hold up the ceiling panel while he was cutting the "crown moulding" 🤣 Edit: Also 11:00 need a drill snake, though maybe still too tight of an angle.
Even though the production quality and entertainment value was sky high you did a great job showing the technical side of how you built the floor/wall. This video will always lift my spirits.
One thing that gives it away is condensation on windows etc,To make sure you don't give yourself away, and that you CAN breath - those passive little spinny vents are great. One in the very centre of the roof. hard to see, works wonders! one can decouple them as to not let loads of sound out, or rain or insects getting in. Also. plenty of foam adhesives that would hold up the roof. GOOD JOB MATT!!
Same same. Still fun to watch! That little Ryobi kit he broke out in the beginning. Prolly like a circular say, a drill, an impact 😂 and maybe a Sawzall (recip. saw). And of course the trusty flashlight. I know this cus I bought the craftsman version for 100 bucks when I was 15? Good video though still. Need more dudes pickin up tools and less dudes on keyboards.
@Emptyb0dy9 yes I know his wife is pregnant and that’s a very big deal. I’m really excited to see what their baby looks like! I was js talking about how much work and effort it took to clean and renovate the van (:
If you are working by yourself, put up the crown moulding with some space near the top. Then measure the width, and create a ceiling with that width, then slide it through the channel so the moulding is holding up the ceiling. Then add screws to secure it.
A key factor often overlooked is that over 25% of new homes are being acquired by investors, rather than individuals seeking primary residences. Even if Baby Boomers decide to offload their properties or more housing stock enters the market, it won’t alleviate the underlying issue. Wealthy investors will continue to absorb the available inventory, which will keep home prices elevated.
There's also a lack of discussion about the role that major financial institutions-banks, private equity firms, and giants like BlackRock-played by purchasing properties post-2008, treating them as investment assets. It's impossible to fully understand the current housing crisis without acknowledging this trend. Additionally, larger luxury properties are inherently more profitable than smaller, more affordable homes, leading developers to prioritize luxury developments for higher returns.
While I anticipate a future decrease in home prices, I currently recommend diversifying investments away from real estate. Shifting capital into the financial markets or commodities like gold is a safer bet given the current high mortgage rates, recession indicators, and tightened lending standards. Housing prices might need to correct by 40-50% before the market stabilizes. In uncertain times like these, getting independent financial advice from a market-savvy expert is essential.
My CFA Rebecca Lynne Buie a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further. She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market.
You never disappoint. I have been watching you for a long time. Man, thank you for all the memories, and never let anyone break your stride. Much love, stay blessed
This makes me miss a van I had in the 00s that was setup for camping, except it was built old school with fold out bench seat and plush carpet everywhere, including the walls/ceiling. Had to sell it in '05 but plan to eventually build a modern one some day. However for those that may be looking to build something like this: 1. Exterior carpet makes good wall/ceiling material, is easier to work with, and can be easier to make modifications later if needed. 2. If installing wooden ceiling by yourself, screw in some twine lines left/right to act as temporary bracing. Once done you can cut the twine off. 3. Install hidden exterior cameras so you can see what is going on outside without opening the doors.
Great story. A few thoughts, ALWAYS LOCK ALL YOUR DOORS the minute you are inside !!! Get an inside windshield curtain too cover your cab area. Install a line with a switch from your alternator to the storage battery so you can let it charge from the van alternator. Make sure you put circuit breakers at each end, and put the line is a heavy gas line to make a conduit. Put on a switch so the house battery disconnects when you turn off the engine. Your van is a good start, even with no water or cooking facilities.
I have a really dumb question as someone who doesn't camp at all... How would those toilets work in terms of AFTER you go? I can only imagine it goes into something totally disposable that you don't have to touch and then you put something else in for the next time... Just totally guessing.
Definitely one of the best of these video types I’ve seen. You’re the first person who did it like a normal person instead of a professional tradesman (no matter what they claim).
I really don't see a problem with someone being good at something and making a video about it. I suppose if they are all claiming, "All of this is new." then proceed to build the moon lander successfully on the first try that could be lame. xD
Bro the whole time I'm watching this trying to figure out why you look so familiar as well as the FCA shirt... you're the husband of one of my childhood friends Grace LMAO. Didn't know you had this kind of following on youtube that's awesome. Best of luck to the both of you as well in your next chapter of parenthood :)
@fornitebalsimgae What it broke the moment he tried to drive it? He didn't test it would start before he tried to sell it? Your gullible gonna get scammed bad soon...

It's illegal to impersonate
You should add a periscope for checking the outside.
That’s pretty clever. Retracting inside so it can’t be stolen.
Like a camera that rotates?
Or some cameras.

Same. I am just a framer but I have built lots of homes and this could have been done way better and for the same time and money.
I like that he tried
Well i am not one, but i have watched others building it and this video is so cringe compared to them 😂
It hurt as a mechanic and home DIY hack who can pass code inspections too. But, it was cool and a fun watch.

Measure were the metal is to drill into...
You should get cameras on the outside, so when you're inside you can see on outside
Yeah that won't call attention at all....lol
The problem isn't building something you can live in the problem is finding a place you can park overnight without local police harassing you.
Haven't done that since covid
Wal-Marts would usually allow you to stay overnight, but idk if they still allow that anymore
@bigsmoke167 best is a motel or hotel

Great story. A few thoughts, ALWAYS LOCK ALL YOUR DOORS the minute you are inside !!!
Get an inside windshield curtain too cover your cab area.
Install a line with a switch from your alternator to the storage battery so you can let it charge from the van alternator. Make sure you put circuit breakers at each end, and put the line is a heavy gas line to make a conduit. Put on a switch so the house battery disconnects when you turn off the engine.
Your van is a good start, even with no water or cooking facilities.
