Landrover have combated this with the transmission in sport or auto mode but in the power band from 3,800 to 4,100 rpm there is some lag but only on the discovery at least I think but the older supercharged v6 had no lag what so ever.

I hv a 2019 bmw x5 40i. For me eco mode is more than enough. This car has been good with minor issues specially the lower tailgate drive failure. The left chrome exhaust color starts wearing off. Parts r waaaaaay to expensive if u r car is out of waaranty and extension is only given for 3 more years after 4 years of warranty which is around $5600 in total n does not covers brakes or wipers or wheel barring. You made it clear the Rover being tested was not the most powerful version but where you failed is you didn’t mention the BMW has more engine options all the way up to 617HP.
Yes, I’m sure the BMW has a little bit quicker throttle and engine response but the BMW also got the jump in every race which I think was the biggest differentiator because things evened out after a bit in most races, but whoever gets the jump has a clear advantage that is hard to overcome. Looking at multiple sources online the BMW 0 to 60 time ranges from 4.7-5.3 with an average of 5.0 whereas the RR seems to be in the 5.2 to 5.3 range so the BMW is a bit quicker, but not as much as shown in this video.
The Velar perfectly encapsulates everything wrong about Range Rover these days. Form over function and designed primarily as a status symbol rather than a car to be driven. The last actually decent car they released was the TDV8 L322. The Evoque and Velar are embarrassing.
I hate to have to agree with you but I think you have a point. The Evoque is so disappointing in every way except looks. The velar is a bit better but not by much when you can get an F-Pace (the original platform this was velar was built on ) for less money and it’s more sporty and seems more purposeful.

Thing is.... a 0-60 is not why you buy these cars. Try testing both in the snow (we know BMWs are awful in snow). Try inclement rain storms and see how assured the velar is. If you want a 0-60 performance then got for a car not a SUV.
Just because they share a ZF supplied gearbox who said everything in the gearbox is the same, looks like the BMW has shorter/closer ratio at lower gears for acceleration then equals the ratio in higher gears, also seems like the BMW revs more freely which to me would seem it has a lighter flywheel compared to the Velar
sold my 2020 velar sva, bought 2022 x3 m40i,definitely less powerful and comfortable, but saved me from visiting dealer a lot and way less spendings in overall. Hate to say that I do miss my SVA’s exhaust notes
ts Add a comment... The King of How To's 1 second ago They are not driving RR in proper setting. I've got an sport and for max take-off speeds, you need to place in manual mode on gear 1 and it would auto-shift and just jam the accelerator (if done correctly, you can even smoke chargers and 300s with RR sport let alone an SVR). They obviously do not understand the RR settings as the RR does go much faster than this...I need to come and show them how to place RR in proper setting for MAX speeds...
If you have ever driven a SAAB, you would know that what their model 9-3 4 cylinder engine turbo can do and not break a sweat (kind of like a little jet engine under the hood), will blow away most things, let alone their 9-5 6 cylinder turbo. But as we know, SAAB is long gone. Point is certain manufacturers can do marvels with small engines.

it's not about horsepower. the most important component is the transmission and how it can handle / distribute that power. notice how bmw has faster shift times and faster throttle response. in the end it's an X5M , that thing competes with modern sports cars , didn't think a range rover can beat that.
I have the x5 40i and it feels shockingly powerful. I need to be light with my foot on the gas or the thing will lurch forward like I’m trying to floor it
Run 1, 2 ,3 ,......100 BMW x5 won the title
The guy in Velar needs to learn how to step on the gas pedal, lol!!
no way is that stock exhaust on the x5 right? right?
What’s the name of beginning song?
Not saying results would have been different but these races weren't done properly.
Range rover is emotion 🥰😘💋😘🥰😍😂🙂😊👍😍😍
As a ranger rover velar owner I gotta say the only reason for the choice was simply the design. Can’t deny its good. Bmw drive much more better. Ngl.
BMW doesn't underrate their engines, the stated power is at the wheels.
My mans couldn’t handle loosing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Where is the video for X3 and GV70
Was it in r dynamic mode just putting it in sport doesn’t work, you looked slow from the start
Nice race! I wanna see the Explorer ST they said it’s a beast SUV.
It’s B58 engine in BMW.
Its so funny but BMW eats most of its comp in many class segments, they have a lock on building a great car.
That RR is positively pedestrian. Embarrassing but not unexpected..

They are not driving RR in proper setting.
As a X5 40i owner, I forgive this BMW's lying.
I owned an X5 40i (xDrive) and I can ensure you the exhaust on that one in not stock, it doesn't sound that deep and burbly.
They stated that in the video.
Wait so the velar is the 2nd most powerful range rover?
Nice work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Yes
If you have ever driven a SAAB, you would know that what their model 9-3 4 cylinder engine turbo can do and not break a sweat (kind of like a little jet engine under the hood), will blow away most things, let alone their 9-5 6 cylinder turbo. But as we know, SAAB is long gone. Point is certain manufacturers can do marvels with small engines.
Thanks God bless me I will buy one of each of them
