I'm in Ohio and I can follow the language which compels and immerses me in a way not possible without it. I'd like to think it's my Celtic ancestry, although that is hundreds of years ago now. I do find the stories unsettling on a deeper level, not at all like modern horror that slaps you in the face, without nuance or inveigling. Thank you, Mr. Walker, you are a rare talent.
it’s how Le Fanu wrote it. sometimes i think people believe I’m just interpreting standard English but he and many other Victorian writers out it on the page like this. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it
❤ I'm sure the author would have approved wholeheartedly by Tony's ability to bring to life each of the characters in these lovely stories. So refreshing against some other creators droning away in monotone. The best of the best in my opinion.
Can't wait to dive into this tonight! I've been wanting to read/hear more of LeFanu's gothic stories, and this will certainly keep me occupied. Thank you, good sir!
Thank you so much Tony! ❤ The painting is simply divine!! Truly! You have great taste in art and fiction! I bet you have a beautiful home… not being nosey, I was just thinking it! Brightest of blessings to you and yours and the channel family! 🙏❤🧚♀️✨🍀 🌟✨🫶✨🌟
"Sir Dominick's Bargain" is an all time great short story. The picturesque setting of the long-ruined house, the cold-sweat sense of utter dread when the devil's bill falls due... a must read. A good second is 'Number Thirteen' by M R James!
Wonderful narration. Love Le Fanu! Fascinated that your grandmother was from Maryport. My mother was from Silloth, just up t'road. Greetings to a fellow Cumbrian.
130 am ,my bed time movie ,,,just wish I can get sleep paralysis, love the feeling of being hug an held but can't move, yea I'm wierd so what .Nite everyone ,😂
I was channeling my grandmother who was very broad Maryport, but also following Le Fanu's written approximation. Check out the text. Of course, he was an Irishman.
@@ClassicGhost My nitpicking criticism is an ungracious observation on an excellent narration. I enjoy your stories very much & I know precisely nothing about the Northumbrian dialect. I must have been in a particularly foul mood when I wrote it. My apologies to you Mr. Walker.
Your regional accents are so thick I can't listen to them; it's a lot of work to understand what you're saying. Definitely not for relaxing at bedtime, sorry Tony.
I am from CT in the USA. I love all the accents. They are very relaxing. Tony is the best narrator and I love the stories written by Tony. I've purchased all available on Audiobooks.
You're too loud. Your mic is cheap and has no low end. Most people listen to these to relax.....there is nothing about your tone , tamber and cadence that is relaxing.
That is quite a personal attack and I am not sure what I've done to deserve such a lashing from you. I get that not everyone likes everyone, but most people just pass on by without dumping bile.
If you don't like it, don't listen. Most listeners seem to love Tony. He is a master storyteller. Your cheap comments are unwarranted and unwanted. Seems you're one of those who find fault with everything.

Spellbinding, masterful, gripping narration, again, again. Thank you, Tony!
Le Fanu is a favorite of mine, enhanced by your vivid narration. Much appreciated, Tony. Thank you.
Love your stuff. Laughed in appreciation as you soldiered through “the rats in the wall” with the misnamed cat.
Sweat on my brow

Thank you for lending your wonderful voice to these great classics.
Ditto ditto ditio , Tony. Still gripping, hearing your vivid narration with "new ears". Thank you!

I’ve done Number 13z It’s in here somewhere. Not done the Bargain but i’ll put

I missed this one somehow. Would ❤ to hear more J.S. LeFanu in your dulcet tones.
Thanks, Mr. Walker for easing my insomnia.

We need proper bleedin subtitles, then!
the text is written phonetically (like thrawn janet) so not sure subtitles would work. a translation is what you need

Battery low.ill text u until I get back and can charge it.
The dialect sounds way off, it doesn't ring true.

Its a good first story, but you should have read "Silver Bell" in NORMAL English.
you need to understand that i read how they write so le fanu writes it in dialect
These supposed to be scary stories these stories are boring and corny. Nothing scary at all😤🤷🤦
If you do not like these stories then do not be such a troll spoiling other peoples' enjoyment. Do not listen then.
