I’ve been looking so forward to these videos each weekend. I finally realized that I could get a more complete understanding of Martin’s work and goals by going back thru the library of videos. The history video during which he visits a “historian’’ and learns of the migratory culture that has passed into history was great to give more awareness of the later work. Also to see the evolution of the cabins and remind me of the tremendous amount of physical labor, self education and the humility of Martin as he admits how much he has to learn and teach himself to advance the project.

Boy, this one really brought back some memories for me. I immigrated to British Columbia, Canada in the the early 1970s when I was 21. My first purchase was my red 4 cylinder Landrover, aluminum with a hand crank. We went everywhere through the interior of BC a kayak, and tent on the roof. Slow, rough, but went everywhere. My Toyota Rav4 is great, but no character. Only thing in common is me, now 71, and the surfski on the roof, instead of the downriver kayak I used to paddle. Thank you Martin for bringing back some good memories. My first Landrover stayed in North America when I moved to Teyateyaneng, Lesotho, Africa with a mohair trading license, everything there at the time in 70s was no road, horses and walk and another Landrover too but thats a different story. Good to see you every week, working dreaming and doing. Thanks again for sharing your story.

The beginning sequence could be the start of a beautiful movie. Thank you for still having the patience to shoot those cinematic scenes. It looks amazing :)
100% agree. I'll also never tire of making people aware of just how much effort goes into these "nice looking shots". Scouting an interesting scene, planning and setting up the camera/drone, performing the scene as naturally as possible, taking down the camera/drone again, repeat that many many many times a day, sifting through and editing the footage to just the best parts, wrapping everything into coherent storytelling, tie it together with a great soundscape. So. much. effort. And it's not just the obviously grand shots. Every single little scene - - "Martjin walks past the swing", "Martijn lets out the chickens", "Martijn preps coffee" - is effort that adds up.
How did he shoot the opening scene, how was he able to operate the drone and drive at speed simultaneously? Do you know the type of drone Martijn uses?

Love your documentary weekly vlogs. Happy for you. Ages ago, when I lived in a hand-hewn log house built by my partner, on a river in the woods, I drove an old 1930's power wagon, a logging machine which in lowest low gear, I could get out and walk beside, steering through the window, for slogging through boggy land. Great fun in old cars hey!
I can tell you love it by your big smile!! You are living a great life by making good decisions and staying true to yourself. Sundays are the best because I get to live an hour through your lens. ❤
Oh yes - now that’s a vehicle most suitable for your place. A new 50yr old toy. You well deserve it. That driveway is just right to drive down to the workshop. Congratulations. And the history of that ROVER. WOW. 🇦🇺 fan.
Martijn what a wonderful video! Your smile was contagious; even your eyes smiled! What a joy to be able to share with you. 😊 When you sat on the front of your Rover, beside the river for lunch, I thought Martijn you are living life to the fullest! Have a good week.
"The brakes are bad", says the man living on an Alp slope. "I'm confident", he says.... 😂 I imagine you will lovingly keep the machine in good shape, as you do everything else in your keep.
You don't use thre brakes a lot anyway. Keep it in a low gear on a down hill and the speed will be slow. Can't do that with the brakes or you'll cook them in no time. Especially drum brakes.
Hi Martijn been watching your channel since you start building. I'm actually a Rooibos Tea farmer in Clanwilliam, South Africa great to see you drinking the product we farm with.
I could not wait for my husband to walk thru the door, sit down to watch your new video. What can we say but your "new ride" is so cool! It is so you! Your smile was priceless. The Land Rover fits right in. All the best. God bless.
Just wow. One of your best for majestic scenery and the sweet sounds of sheep and cow bells. The chickens are glad you’re home but not sure about the new ride. They’re too young to remember 1974 and they’ve never appreciated the need for road safety - which is why they keep crossing the road 😂. So pls don’t let them keep you from exercising good judgment. You have thousands of friends who don’t want some damned injury to destroy your ability to savor every moment of your mountain life. One bad accident and the dream is over. We say this out of love and respect for your wonderful life. Besides, your fans need you more than you know. Today’s video is breathtaking. It’s the first time we’ve seen you really smile with joy.
😊 today I saw such joy in your face when driving your ''new'' toy. I, at 78 years old, have that same grin when I drive our Dodge Challenger, does'nt matter what people think, it's just grinnin fun.. keep on grinnin...
Congratulations on the new ride. We have been driving our 1952 Willys station wagon in LA for 30years. Only a car person could understand the expression on your face as you were backing up the driveway with your fellow car friends. Well done.
Love the new ride! You do you, Martin. The music you play in your videos and watching you with new friends, on a drive with the top down....reminds me that life is about the little moments. Thank You for your channel. I think it's the relaxing stuff a lot of us are looking for here.
The joy in your being, Martijn, with your new vehicle, was present throughout your video. The scenes in the dark with you cooking for your friends on the outside grill, oh dear, the lighting was so exquisite. Art exudes continually through your vision - no wonder I look forward to your art life every week. I’m utterly inspired and uplifted to stay with my own dreams. Thank you, thank you!
As soon as I saw the new old cream Land Rover I was laughing - it is SO you Martijn. And then I couldn't stop singing "I'm in love with my car" by Queen. "Got a feel for my automobile". It made me so happy because I understood what makes you so happy.

I can tell that you love your “new” Land Rover by the extra effort put into shooting/editing the segment at the beginning of this week’s video. Kan’s festival should add another award for the type of videos you make. 🙏👍🏻🍷

Drive over a big log, up a steep hill just to get our Christmas tree. 😀
Love hearing your story!
WOW. 🇦🇺 fan.
Martijn, I dont think I have seen you so happy. ( Boys and their toys )You have a great smile, enjoy the ride. ❤ ( Love the Rover )😊
Martijn what a wonderful video! Your smile was contagious; even your eyes smiled! What a joy to be able to share with you. 😊 When you sat on the front of your Rover, beside the river for lunch, I thought Martijn you are living life to the fullest!
Have a good week.
The big smile on your face from the new ride started my day off so enjoyable.
Pretty great to see you laughing and smiling. Enjoying the fruits of your hard labor.
I smiled through this whole episode as well, so nice to see how happy the rover makes you. Love from Northeast Pennsylvania, USA.
Imagine, being the coolest guy in the parking lot. Then Martijn pulls up in this absolute banger of a rover! 🤩
You mean coldest?
LOL and loving it! 😄
Heater work, but only for the front seats well, back ...not so much. 😅
Hi Martijn been watching your channel since you start building. I'm actually a Rooibos Tea farmer in Clanwilliam, South Africa great to see you drinking the product we farm with.
Yes, Rooibos equals South Africa to me too.
I could not wait for my husband to walk thru the door, sit down to watch your new video. What can we say but your "new ride" is so cool! It is so you! Your smile was priceless. The Land Rover fits right in.
All the best. God bless.
Your design and art skills are evident in every camera and drone shot. Especially like the nighttime views around the fire. Nicely done - thanks.
Well done.
When your happy I’m happy. I love hearing the joy in your laughter. 😊
The Landy is great. 😁 every time you drive or even talk about it you smile. I get it 😁
Lovely see you smile like that! You seem to be joyful with your new toy, like a little kid at Christmas time.
We are glad you shared your joy with us.
Thank you a million.
I was fan of your videos, your calmness. And then life hit me hard, going through a divorce at the moment. Haven't seen your video for 6 months, and now found oportunity to watch it. Everything is so nice, green, cozy at your place. I see a lot of progress. Love this Land Rover. Good luck :)
Und ihnen alles gute für die Zukunft
I don't know the requirements in your area, but what about a circular stairway from upstairs to the bathroom? Just a thought, maybe it's not possible.
I can tell that you love your “new” Land Rover by the extra effort put into shooting/editing the segment at the beginning of this week’s video. Kan’s festival should add another award for the type of videos you make. 🙏👍🏻🍷
For the staircase in the new cabin, have you thought about a spiral staircase ? It takes a lot less space and the opening can be small too.
The work you do is always amazing.
Great idea!
@@gwenaelgueheneuc8243 I 2nd ! 😙
They're a nightmare, never a good idea if you have people over.
Spirals do not save space. An alternating tread might be an option.
This one was a Johannes visit short of perfection! Joy is fun to watch
I’m going to became father for the second time tonight, and we have already seen, ad usual, your video. But this time we are not at home, we are in the hospital in Udine! I’m happy to share with you this thing, because you have shared a lot with us. Belive me or not, this has meant a lot for us. See you next sunday….. you’ll have one more follower❤
Congratulations to you and you [bigger] little family, I wish you all well and happy!😄👏👶
@@thomascengarle congrats from here in Connecticut USA
Many congratulations and ... Welcome little one! xxx 😘
Oh new life!! Welcome in
Congrats Thomas to you and your wife and family.
Wow. That is the first time I’ve seen your vlog on the big screen. (Usually on my iPhone) that river is the most spectacular river I’ve ever seen. And the mountains, your home, everything. Just WOW. Enjoy your new ride.
I like to have a meal when I watch each week because you almost always include cooking and eating, which is great. If I miss a Sunday I catch up as soon as I can, and today I had zucchini too. This week I was really delighted to see you so happy! Thank you so very much for sharing your journey, I've loved following along since the beginning! Sending bright fall equinox blessings to you!
It's cinematographically enjoyable again! Thanks Martijn!
Lovely to see you so happy. As an amateur car buff I totally get the joy in having a vehicle that you love.
Thank you! Really enjoy my Sunday mornings with the sunrise and Martjin Doolaard’s latest episode - as my kids have dubbed it “Mom’s Sunday Show” 😊 Wonderful way to start the week.
And thank you for telling Us about your business and you don't need to tell Us but you did.And I Pray your Work Shop will be Starting when you are Ready to Start it.Thank you Martijn God bless you family, friends and be Safe always what ever you do.Raquel.
Thoroughly approve of the new purchase! Forty Years since I last had a Series 3 but I recognise that Land Rover smile!
I love the smell of old vehicles inside. They just handle different as well. Good times. Love your new ride!!❤
YES! I saw that thumbnail and was overjoyed and very happy for you!
I grew up riding across the country in my father's LWB Land Rovers - one was a '67, the other a '69. Both were absolute treasures.
What I wouldn't give for one of those right now! I hope you get many, many years of use from yours and have many adventures, too!
ETA: That smile at the end says it all. 😊
My hubby and I have been putting in an in ground sprinkler system for over a week now after 30 yrs of dragging hoses around. We are in our 60’s and 70’s and I tell ya it’s hard work. Good for the body and soul though. I know the dirt in my yard way more than a person should know and it made think of all the dirt and rock work you have done. Ha! Keep up the good work! Love your videos every week and got a kick out of you laughing and enjoying your drive home with the new, vintage Land Rover. Made my day to see you enjoying life!
Love Love that smile, ❤
And your appreciation for vintage cars. They sure don't build them like that anymore. Timeless.
I like how you look so confident all the time. Best wishes and thank you for the video.
I haven't seen that joyful, excited smile in a long time. So happy for you Martijn!
Your smile says it all, and it fits really nice on the property!!!
Sometimes you just need to let go of what's practical and do what makes your heart sing. Your face when talking about that Rover says enough.
Oh my goodness, at 27:50 this beautiful scene looks like it could be a "still life" painting. The fruit on the table, the curled up blanket & coffee cup. Even the colour of light while Martijn runs the water & prepares his coffee. Love it.
Martijn, how lovely to see those smiles!!! You are positively giddy with your 'new to you' Land Rover, and what a stunning vehicle it is. Here's to many adventures in it! Have a great week, Martijn and see you again next Sunday! 🚘☘🟢⚪🟠
Hi everyone. Don’t forget to hit that “like” button! Share and subscribe would be nice, too. Martijn works hard every week to bring us a new video for our viewing pleasure. A lot of work goes into filming. Positioning the camera. Repositioning the camera. Using the drone. But, mostly, doing all of the editing to bring us a pleasantly cohesive masterpiece each week. So, please don’t forget to hit the like button. Thank you.
👍👍
I always hit like even before I watch his videos!
@@SilverGoth Me too 🙂
who are you?
And it shows, much appreciated.
Amazing history to a vehicle! What an awesome find, similarily the property...loving the concepts of embracing history, land, restoration, the creative individuality in being human...we cannot forget how important this is for humanity as a whole...just a humble opinion
Good for you, the smile says it all.
Cheers
Ian
I own a 1974 too, a Celica Mark I and the joy of an analog car is something else. That landie is perfect for slow mountainous terrain; kudos!
That smile says a lot . Landrover has made you happy. Great vechicle, best of luck with it.
