This provided info I couldn't find anywhere else, even though it's so fundamental to understanding how to approach SharePoint. It clarified a lot of things just fantastically.
Thank you for the feedback and yes, I agree, it is fundamental to understand the difference between sites and pages, especially for security reasons!
I love how you illustrate your point using the iPhone, apps and pages concept.
Thank you, Steve! Appreciate it - love the analogy as well!
Very informative and clear! Thank you very much!
Happy to hear! Thanks for the feedback
Good explanation. Thank you!
Thanks again
Thank you!!!!! super clear and helpful!
My pleasure, appreciate the comment!
nice but after creating the page you did not show how to open that page from the main site? That would complete the video perfectly
I cover this in other videos on my channel :)
I agree to your comment. I was thinking too "How do I access the new page?" Is there a link to the "other videos" on where this new page is accessed from the main site? Thank you so much.
Hello @SharePointMaven! Does it matter WHERE I create pages within SharePoint Online? There are many options how i can do that - from the homepage --> settings (as you showed), from the Pages level, from the Document Library level - you have a plus button everywhere..
Does not matter
Thanks Greg. From the site vs page explaination is it good to design a site and make HR, Finance, etc… as pages of that site? Or the good practice is to have them as subsites of the main site? Thank you
Neither. They should be separate sites, not pages or subsites under main site
@@SharePointMaven Cool thank you
Question. How you mase that think from 1:40 i want to make on my sharepoint 2019 somethig similare just with external links from the internet
SP 2019 does not have this capability
I saw someone who still had sp19 click like you did on 1.40 and he had a short cut or link to other pages. They were placed one under the other, not divided like yours. Do you understand what I mean?😅
how to make the the sections in the middle of the page 🤔
Not possible
well explained
Thank you, happy to hear you found this helpful
I have completed a whole sharepoint course but these key information were missing in the course. Thanks so much :)
My pleasure, happy to hear you found this helpful!
I think I made a big mistake and need help fixing it! I created a SP site with pages under the main "page" This site is restricted to members of the SP group. However, we need to invite visitors with limited view only permissions and they should NOT be able to see pages we (members and owners) don't want them to see. Yet, we DO want them to see specific pages on our site.
Is this even possible? Just so you know, the visitors will be minors and their parents who are not in our organization's groups. I intend to send them email that gives them a link to only the pages I want them to see.
Your help is greatly appreciated, and urgent! HELP! Thank you. I have subscribed and liked!
Hello Doug, yes, you can set page level permissions. Instructions here: sharepointmaven.com/how-to-prevent-team-site-members-from-editing-sharepoint-pages/ Long-term, you want to create separate sites though.
how do you get to insert chart? i dont have that as option
It is a web part withing SharePoint
This was SO helpful! I've watched a few other videos but this explained the differences and when to use the pages vs sites so well. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful, Naomi! Thanks for being my loyal follower!
