Light in the Darkness

The Churches in Pergamum and Thyatira were phenomenal beacons for light to the communities they served. It is encouraging to see a church survive and shine in a place like Pergamum where Satan has his throne. Despite persecution, Christians held on to their faith and were commended for their love for God, their faith, service and perseverance. Their culture, like ours, was given to sexual immorality. Jesus’ message to both churches was a call to repentance for allowing false prophets to teach permissive doctrines that are detrimental to holiness and purity of believers. There really is much for us to learn from these letters and our hope at the end of the tunnel is that God has incredible rewards for those who hold on to faith until Jesus comes back.
