Hey Abby!! Stories are more for on the go sharing (they only exist for 24 hour) to your existing audience. They’re less curated and can be images or video. Whereas reels are videos that are great for showcasing your expertise to current and new audiences. It displays in your grid (if you want) and exists long term. Fb vs insta depends on where your audience hangs out. I tend to focus on Instagram but cross post to Facebook
Jacqui I I just found your YT channel and I love your style of teaching and I use Canva every day. I took over an eCommerce business which included the Instagram account and I need to change the Highlight Covers learn how to add new content to them. I've made lots of reels but not stories and I believe it is stories that are saved to Highlights. My understanding is that stories last only 24 hours but I want to use the Highlights for new products, reviews, etc. like the previous business owner did. Any chance you have done a video about Highlights and if not any chance you could do one? Oh, by the way...my name is Rochelle and I'm from South Florida. I know you asked for your subscribers to mention where we're from. Thanks so much for your wonderful videos!🌺🦩🌴
You are so amazing!! I just started using Canva for work and I had no idea what I was doing! Like, super embarrassing designs before I found you! (Well, my designs are still going to be embarrassing, but hopefully less so now! 😂😂) Thanks for putting out such well thought out tutorials!
Hi thanks for the informative video ! Just wanted to know how you edit yourself while recording a video I mean the circle down there that shows yourself , what software do you use ? And can you make a tutorial for that ?
Hey :) my editor uses Adobe Premiere but you could do it any professional programs. I record me and record my screen separately then we add 2 layers to the video. You can always use something like zoom, loom or Vimeo if you want a simple way to do it :)
Thank you so much. I just created a IG account for my journal business and I always wanted to know how people get those beautiful grids. When I started a IG account for my husband and I RUclips channel, I would just use what IG provided in the edits...I would love your insight on my new channel before I start posting too many. I have a lot of pictures and videos for my journals but I may need some direction. Thank you. My name is Marchelle... I did use the information you shared and went back and changed my covers. 😂
Thank you for your videos. This is a very basic question, how do you send the canva graphics to your phone? Are you storing them in Google Drive? And sharing from there?
I have Mac and iPhone so I airdrop them to myself :) some other options would be your Google drive idea! Or email. Or opening canva on your phone and saving. Or posting to socials from your computer.
Does Instagram allow me to customize how I frame/crop a portrait post into a square for the grid view? Or does it automatically crop the square from the center of the original post?
Oh that's so interesting! I haven't heard of that before. Never mind - if you follow the other steps here you don't need to preview as it should already fit perfectly! :)
Followed the instructions but the square jumps around on the grid once the reel cover is edited. I've used the same template on Canva to create the cover, and they line up perfectly on the reel view but the frame does not remain centered on the grid view creating inconsistency. Any thoughts? TIA!
Hmm I have had students have this issue although it’s never something that’s happened for me! Are you not accidentally toggling the “profile grid” view when you add the cover? If not… you could try purposely doing that 🤔
@@jacquinaunton I'm doing a bit of clean up on my feed so the ones I've done so far, so no option to preview the profile grid view unless I'm missing something?
did something change as for todays date? I did as mentioned in the video and still in the grid donst show correctly as in the reel cover... not sure why
Hey there :) that preview isn’t what you want to do as it won’t save as a full reel cover. I only did that to show what it looks like when cropped - the way I did it was adding a rectangle on top at the top and bottom in the same colour as the canva background :)
Yes, on desktop :) Mobile is very tedious. Simply make square as wide as your design and put it in the middle of your design. That square shows where your IG grid will crop the design. I then use the rulers to show me where that square is so I can delete the square and design without it in the way.
thanks for the quick and useful info!
So helpful and I LOVE your grid!
Love this! I'm new to reels and stories and am curious about when to use each one, and when to post those to Instagram vs. Facebook.

Hey there! ❤ checking in from 🇺🇸
Hey Steve!! Thanks so much for tuning in!
Does Instagram allow me to customize how I frame/crop a portrait post into a square for the grid view? Or does it automatically crop the square from the center of the original post?
Great question! No, Instagram doesn’t allow you to choose the crop on static posts. You CAN however, choose the crop on reel covers.
Great video, but question. I don’t have the option on IG to view my cover as a grid….why? Referring to right around 2:50 into your video.
Oh that's so interesting! I haven't heard of that before. Never mind - if you follow the other steps here you don't need to preview as it should already fit perfectly! :)

Still working the same for me :) what's it doing? Feel free to share your IG handle
how to remove the upper and lower portion of ruler like 7:35. please reply
Hey there :) that preview isn’t what you want to do as it won’t save as a full reel cover. I only did that to show what it looks like when cropped - the way I did it was adding a rectangle on top at the top and bottom in the same colour as the canva background :)
I do NOT find this “so so simple” this is so tedious. And in log following. Are you on a desktop ?
