- Simple and delicious recipe for Tres Leches Cake:
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
5 large eggs, separated
1 cup sugar, divided (¾ cup and ¼ cup)
⅓ cup whole milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Tres Leches Mixture:
1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
¼ cup whole milk
For the Topping:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
3 tbsp Sugar
Instructions:
1. Make the Cake:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. Separate the eggs. Beat the egg yolks with ¾ cup sugar until pale yellow and creamy, then stir in the milk and vanilla.
4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining ¼ cup sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
5. Gently fold the egg yolk mixture into the egg whites, then fold in the flour mixture until combined.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely.
2. Prepare the Tres Leches Mixture:
1. In a bowl, whisk together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and whole milk.
2. Once the cake has cooled, poke holes all over the surface using a fork. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, ensuring it soaks evenly.
3. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow it to fully absorb the milk.
