    My garden is cut off from the water source from the house by a driveway and patio, to water I have no options but to drag out the hose. Fortunately my sump pump reservoir is working for the 1st time in 3 years, 56" of snow this winter to thank for that.
    I too rather enjoy watering by hand, lets me see what is going on with the plants and pollinators in the garden. In areas where the hose will not reach a 5 gallon bucket and a watering can gets the job done, just with a bit more exercise.
    Your greenhouse looks awesome! Stay Well!!!

    I watched one of your older videos with the greenhouse in the background. What a big operation. Assuming it is same place. It sure does get hot in a greenhouse though. We finally got 65 degree weather in Oregon and it was so humid inside mine. I got my kit from Vevor. It is a 14'x7'x7'. Also got fabric pots so I can drag them around. Great video, will look for a bigger hat. 🥵

    my allotment has no tap water. So I have set up hoses underground to transport water from where the water butts are to troughs in the further sections. that way I can dunk watering cans in quickly to water plants without having to go back and forth. the air pressure is enough to fill the troughs once the syphon is set up and a simple valve is all that is needed to stop the flow when the trough is full.

    We installed a frost free tap all the way out to where our greenhouse was going to be built before we did anything else. Then we built our greenhouse around it so that ithe tap would be located in the corner of the completed greenhouse. We bought a lightweight coil hose which stores easily on a hose stand we installed next to the tap. It's been a great solution for use!

    We did almost the same thing! I have the same greenhouse. I ran a semi-underground run to the greenhouse, did an aboveground cement block with a hose bib and then attached a curled boat washing hose that can stretch the inside length and to outside garden area. I don't do inground planting inside the greenhouse though. I do grobuckets instead.

    I did mine with shallow buried PVC from the house to the distribution point. With a shutoff at the house hose connection. That is where qualty multi valve splitters are handy. It works if you have permanent connection points, and a hose won't decay in the sun.

  • @dustyflats3832
    @dustyflats3832 Год назад +1

    UGH, THE HOSE!😂😂. I fight with them all summer. It’s a bit better with Flexzilla. This is a great idea!!
    When I remodel the greenhouse I’m definitely considering this as I’ve seen them 3 times in different videos. I wipe out plants all the time as I only have a few RBs and most in ground rows. This year we will work on irrigation and I love quick connects! To have a main that can hook up easily and to a lighter more flexible hose is a WIN!!
    You hit a point I struggle with and that is to keep more area around plants moist. Drip irrigation just goes straight down and the rest of the area turns hydrophobic. It really is key to keeping things evenly watered not just one spot. Fine for maybe woody plants and pots, but not the garden unless the drip irrigation is close enough, then maybe. I really have to have it fit the area because I tried soaker hoses and end up with it too long or too short=too much or not enough water. Hope we get it done for some parts as I don’t have enough time to get it all done by hand before heat sets in and we are expanding the garden. The brand new lawnmower I have only used rarely the transmission went out and of course the warranty is up and Dixon sold out. So if they can’t make good products anymore I’m turning it all into garden. It’s so dry here we mow maybe once a month. I don’t think I would ever buy brand name mower again as I had an off brand that ran for years-With a bagger! Not happy.
    Thanks for the great idea!!
    Lol, one of the best things you’ve ever done😂😂

    I ran water lines across my property (5 acres) digging ditches by hand 3 ft deep 350ft long ditch with a couple different faucets in a couple different places. I unfortunately don’t have a greenhouse yet. But I at least already got my water in the area where I want my greenhouse at!
    Digging the ditch in clay soil in the hot summer wasn’t no easy task either! Almost like breaking concrete! But sure nice not having to drag garden hoses for hundreds of feet to water the 5 acres so much now!
    Myself with being disabled, I need automatic watering as much as possible. If you do it yourself setting up automatic watering not too expensive to do. Again depending what’s considered expensive to each person of course? As well as how large your garden is? But there are a several methods to minimize watering too! As I know you know too! I’m still working on what works the best to keep my manual watering time to a minimum? It’s work in progress you might say! 😂 trial and error and hopefully improving each year? By the time I die hopefully I’ll have it figured out?
