Loved that you fixed yourself a drink, Scott, on account of--now that I've read UTV three times--I've come to the conclusion that in order to get into the spirit(s) of the novel, you kinda gotta be a bit tipsy. And yes yes to your assessment of Ulysses. Just as I've TRIED to read it a dozen times, so have I simply turned and re-read for the dozenth time Dubliners and A Portrait. Love Orwell--all of it. And look forward to your continued trips to the 'tub!! P.S. yes to Douglas Day!!! pps UNKIND of you to remind me I don't live in London where you can read in a pub. hahaha. LA is IMPOSSIBLE as far as that goes! till next time!!!
BBC extra “great lives “ has just been talking about him ,he came from a very privilege background, where the chauffeur took him into town ,and a fellow poet suggested read the first chapter last 😀as it can be a little heavy to start with .i enjoyed your chat .
Hi Scott, I discovered you via Reddit two days ago. Someone had posted your ATD, Pynchon vid. Thanks to he or she and tganks to you Scott, I think you're hilarious, in the best way. I'm reading Life And Fate, whilst thinking about reading The Magic Mountain, whilst dreaming of JR - I'm a DoorStop Dope Fiend. Stick a pin in your map for me - Onchan, in the Isle of Man. Thank you Sir!
Thanks for the kind words, John, and welcome to the bathtub, where you are now entitled to read freely in bathtubs all over the known universe! I don't know what Reddit is but if anybody can help spread the word about our universally useless literary opinions I am grateful. I never read Life and Fate but someday! DoorStop Dope Fiend? Here's a link to the map with you on it, lighting up the Isle of Man for all to see from outer space! drive.google.com/open?id=1Tc7RT3iL24ErPt8HJgjXj4m5Pey1HnSi&usp=sharing And here's our Facebook page: facebook.com/groups/702202229874384/ Isle of Man. That's Roger Corman territory, or was... I once signed a contract entitling me to "all the rights of a citizen of the Isle of Man," which, according to my lawyer, were negligible...and now look at me!
@@Scottmbradfield Roger Corman territory; a great way of putting it - we've all got a low-budget reality on this Island - great set design, but the acting is kinda 'Murder She Wrote'. We are top heavy with oldsters and they get all the best speaking parts. At 50, I'm the beaming optimistic and irrepresable mute kid who gets offed in the first act. Maybe in 10 years they'll let me have more than one scene - maybe.
@@jD-P8g3s interesting sounding place. I didn't mean Corman as in ambience-I believe he had some studio there, and filmed a movie or two I worked on for him, and ran his contracts through the court system there for tax breaks, stuff like that... Hang in there. At 50, I consider you a kid. I'm 64 and still waiting for my big break. S
@@Scottmbradfield interesting titbit... well I never! Ambience-wise, more Michael Winner Death on the Nile, without the desert, pyramids, big names and Russian Pete.

Great videos
Thanks!
The film with Albert Finney might help some readers. It's John Huston so it's at the least quite interesting.
Hey John. Yeah, the part Finney was born to play! I love Albert Finney.

katt interesting. His bio is a lot more interesting to me than his books. Stay safe, katt! Scott
Scott Bradfield ,I will definitely check out the bio, keep safe you and all 😷
I too preferred Coming Up For Air by Orwell, just! Under the Volcano is a very descriptive, memorable, sad tale about a lost soul.
Hi George. Yeah, I'll talk about the Orwell soon. His character is a sad soul as well, but I find him more fun to spend time with!
