The reason why the crowd was so “dead” is because it’s just a sign of respect whilst she is singing so they can hear her singing especially since the song is not an upbeat one.

Being loud as a crowd while someone is performing is not a thing in Asia. In Asia the quieter you are, the more you are into it. You don't have to explain or apologize for it, we also don't make people apologize and explain why they are being so loud.

Ikr I find noisy audience annoying. Like I rather enjoy the song that someone put effort in rather than disturb that beauty.
It’s one thing to be loud during the performance, but after when you don’t clap or are kinda quiet it’s awkward for the singer cause they just poured their heart out and sometimes it can be rude. But in this case I don’t think the crowd was being rude, they clapped and made noise at an appropriate time.

I'll explain why the audience keeps quiet.
The reason why the audience is quiet is not to disturb her singing and not to cause inconvenience to other audiences because we are listening together.
Besides, it's not an exciting song, it's a ballad, so the audience is quieter.
That's why after the song's over, the audience responds.
Every audience should be like that !!
Yeah it’s just a respectful way of appreciating someone’s art people don’t need to always scream or cheer when someone’s show casing them singing or playing music etc. bc like as u said it can disturbs the music and the audience. I feel like it’s seen as the norm as if people don’t cheer or clap during a performance then they don’t like it or appreciate them.
There's a time and place (you're supposed to learn this as a child, but it seems to have missed many millions of people as they 'grew' up). Asian cultures tend to learn and value respect over everything else. Being loud and obnoxious is quite often the last thing we want to hear or see, and it's very much frowned upon. We wanted to enjoy the performance and not miss anything. Whereas I'm sure, you'd hear a slew of annoying yelling from other cultures... like, "YAS QUEEN!" "YOU GO GIRL!" "SLAYYY SISTER!!" and constant wooing, etc.. which in my opinion is rude, obnoxious, and adds ZERO value to the performance, it more often than not takes away from the performance. This is one of many reasons why I love Korea, the culture, and our people :) Take care.

No need to try and act smart in the replies lmfao. If people are standing here for a long ass time in under about -3°C it’s because they’re supporting the artist. It’s an atmosphere of respect. People who aren’t interested in the performance won’t even stop to check it out. That’s how it is in the busking area, people won’t generally be making a whole fuss (except sometimes at dance crews). Let’s not mention that it’s also a crowded shopping area.

I wish people were this quiet at concerts. The reason I hate going to them is because you can never hear the artist you came to listen to, rather you hear a bunch of people screaming and carrying on. She has a lovely voice!

@@tangerinemik9967 Crowds shouldn't cheer throughout the entire performance (*in my opinion*). I would think it would actually make it more difficult for the artist to hear themselves when they sing. During the beginning or end of a performance seems like a more respectful place to applause/cheer. Maybe every blue moon there can be a certain song that would be more acceptable than others to scream and carry on.

I genuinely love when the audience is quiet when the artist is performing because what did you even come for? To hear everyone screaming their heads off or to listen to the artist’s beautiful voice?
It’s rude to others to interrupt a song. You can see their enthusiasm through their shocked faces, amazed expressions (someone’s jaw dropped), and the applause at the end of the performance. Buskers are a dime a dozen so the fact that this many people stopped to listen is proof that everybody is appreciating her, her voice, and her art.
AJ Kim lol when the last winner of KNTM won, her reaction was priceless. You'd think they just called her name for mandatory jury duty. COMPLETELY bored, lifeless, and dead. Much like this crowd.

I think that was a translation error. She was more pressured or pushed into reaching her bigger potential than forced.
초고음을 들으면 보통 놀라고 감탄하는데, 흰님 고음은 딱 감정을 탁 건드리는 뭔가가 있는 거 같아요 예상치못한 지점까지 갑자기 확 올려서 고음이 터지니까 한 순간에 듣는사람 감정도 확 터져요 이 곡은 특히 들을때마다 후반부에서 느닷없이 눈물이 확 나오네요ㅜㅜ

Clearly a talented singer. She just needs to control the mic so that she’s adjusting her volume by moving the mic away during louder parts of her singing. Otherwise, impressive moments like that high note could be jarring and distorted
