The reason why the crowd was so “dead” is because it’s just a sign of respect whilst she is singing so they can hear her singing especially since the song is not an upbeat one.
Being loud as a crowd while someone is performing is not a thing in Asia. In Asia the quieter you are, the more you are into it. You don't have to explain or apologize for it, we also don't make people apologize and explain why they are being so loud.

It’s one thing to be loud during the performance, but after when you don’t clap or are kinda quiet it’s awkward for the singer cause they just poured their heart out and sometimes it can be rude. But in this case I don’t think the crowd was being rude, they clapped and made noise at an appropriate time.
I'll explain why the audience keeps quiet. The reason why the audience is quiet is not to disturb her singing and not to cause inconvenience to other audiences because we are listening together. Besides, it's not an exciting song, it's a ballad, so the audience is quieter. That's why after the song's over, the audience responds.
There's a time and place (you're supposed to learn this as a child, but it seems to have missed many millions of people as they 'grew' up). Asian cultures tend to learn and value respect over everything else. Being loud and obnoxious is quite often the last thing we want to hear or see, and it's very much frowned upon. We wanted to enjoy the performance and not miss anything. Whereas I'm sure, you'd hear a slew of annoying yelling from other cultures... like, "YAS QUEEN!" "YOU GO GIRL!" "SLAYYY SISTER!!" and constant wooing, etc.. which in my opinion is rude, obnoxious, and adds ZERO value to the performance, it more often than not takes away from the performance. This is one of many reasons why I love Korea, the culture, and our people :) Take care.

웅이야 목을 쥐어짜든 복식으로 음을 내든 성대는 떨림으로 발생하는 파동에 의해 소모될 수 밖에 없습니다 특히나 말하는 직업이나 가수들은 아무리 목관리를 해도 손상이 올 수 밖에 없어요 ㅎㅎ 스킬이나 경험에 의한 여유로움은 늘 수 있어도 시간이 흐르면 성대는 무조건 상합니다
그렇군요 무리하게 사용하지 않으면 근육처럼 단련된다고만 생각했어요.

이 노래를 처음 들었던 날
동전 노래방에서 옆방 손님이 부르는 멜로디에 반해서
내가 아는 가사 "우리가 왜" 이 한 줄을 가지고 다음 멜론 네이버 등등 아무리 검색을 해봐도 비슷한 노래조차 나오질 않았다.
노래 제목도 모르는 상태에서 두 달 동안 헤매다가
오늘 가족들과 외식을 위해 돈가스 전문점을 방문했는데 가게 안에서 내가 그토록 찾아 헤매던 "우리가 왜"이 부분이 우렁차게 흘러 나오고 있었다.
냉큼 핸드폰을 집어 들고
속전속결로 멜론을 터치하고 폭풍 검색을 해서 드디어 다운을 받았습니다.

Clearly a talented singer. She just needs to control the mic so that she’s adjusting her volume by moving the mic away during louder parts of her singing. Otherwise, impressive moments like that high note could be jarring and distorted
