As a homeschooler i can say that most of your social life comes from clubs or sports and also most homeschooling does have a school approved curriculum

@@windowstechsupport3562 There are other ways. I've been homeschooled from Kindergarten all the way until college and I have a great social life. People from my middle and high school years I still talk to and met through these programs. There are programs, once-a-week "schools" homeschoolers can use such as Classical Conversations (CC) and co-ops. Depending on where you live, you also have local schools and programs. My co-op uses the "National Beta Club" program and I thrived in that and it was so much fun. (not a sports thing). Depending on religion, I being Christian, had my Youth Groups and Sunday Schools when I was younger.
I agree some homeschoolers don't get the proper socialisation, but there are more than plenty of resources besides sports and clubs for us to be social. I'm an extreme extrovert and even found my fiancé through these homeschool programs.
As an engineering major, I still have yet to see how y = mx + b is used in real life

I studied economics and that’s the very simple basic formula for explaining correlations between two different variables. Obviously, multi variable regression analysis is far more complex than y=mx+b but you got to at least understand that for a start!

Personally, going into homeschool was one of the times where I was the most suicidal I've ever been. My family never went anywhere, I was inside all the time, I wasn't allowed to go outside without my brother, because my mom was worried about me being alone because I'm a girl, and my brother never wanted to take me anywhere, and I was never able to go on any online games because, again, my mom was afraid of predators. It was such a lonely existence, and if I had a do-over, I would have argued against it.
I'm so sorry you had to go through that... hearing others homeschool experience saddens me because I would never want to not be homeschooled... I had a great social life, just had to bring my service dog with me because my mom was worried about creeps as well. I hope you're doing better though

I love school, I'm currently in high school, and while I don't necessarily like my classes, but its more of a social thing. I think school really helps people develop social competency.

I want to redeem home educators here...
I was home educated for most of my school life, and it honestly was the best thing for me. The ability to be able to be taught and learn in a way that was more conducive to the way my brain works. There are also a lot of genuinely valuable things I learned and taught myself that school would never had the ability/funds for.
This video showcases when people don't actually do the "educate" of the "home educated".
For those wondering how my academics were, I got almost all 8/9's in GCSEs (one 6 in english language), and am currently on track to going to uni come September.

In my opinion, this mom does not show homeschooling correctly. As a one who was homeschooled myself, myself I think my parents did a fantastic job. They signed me up for sports, I did homeschool groups, and used well tried and trusted homeschooling curriculums. I had plenty of friends from the neighborhood and homeschool groups. I personally liked homeschooling because I think I had a better relationship with my parents and appreciated school more. I was put in hybrid school for middle school and finally public schooled for high school. The slow change to normal schooling was I think very good.

I'm a little surprised that her mother created such a person because after all (this mother's mother) sounds wise when she talks about it and says well that they should go to school at least until they are mature enough because what's the point of them knowing how to cook and do their make-up if they don't they will know what society is like, the only wise thing she said is that you become the people you are with because maybe one of them will see the light, poor children.

Education as itself isn’t a magic wand that creates success. However, it’s a tool. May as well put as many tools as possible in the toolbox of life. Also, education is a clear sociological indicator of happiness and success; it’s tough to be happy when getting fired from McDonald’s due to the fact that one can’t memorize the ingredients necessary to create a BigMac.

I started homeschooled recently if you can even call it that. I feel like my mom has kinda brainwashed us but I'd never go back to school cause I've had a horrible experience there but my entire days are spent sitting on my couch in front of the TV since I have no social life and nothing to do. I'm ashamed that my mom is honestly pretty irresponsible to just let me do nothing all day and I'm ashamed to say it. To be fair I do have really good general knowledge from things I've watched but I feel like this isn't right but I guess it's better than sitting on a plastic chair for hours doing useless shit.
It's not the worst thing to take your kids out of public school if it's their early to mid highschool years... but these kids aren't even in 4th grade and are being pulled out to do, what looks like dumb tik-tok shit. To be fair I think she said she hired private teachers to teach them kinda of behind the scenes but what ever. I got pulled out at the end of my sophomore year to do homeschool dual enrollment for a community college literally less than 5 mins away from my house, the reason was that I only needed to complete so many credits to graduate and it would've pretty much just been a waste of time to keep doing highschool, I miss my friends sure, but I'll get an associates degree before my friends graduate their senior year, so at least I'll have something to brag about 😅. I feel like one thing I've learned about my middle school, high school, and college is that they're all woke af and I live in a Republican county 💀

If you're going to homeschool them, you need to make them read as many books as possible in all subjects to have background or culture générale(idk how you say it in English). If someone asks you about anything, there's a bare minimum you need to know. Whether it's politics, science, geography...

I'm not a fan of school, still in it. Public school is bad but even I am aware its still important, I'm in a Law Enforcement class young into High School and into my next year I'm going to a college campus (not going into college still young) so I can get a Dispatcher license super easy, yea they teach you things you never use in life but majority of school is learning how to learn, not learning taxes for when you get a home and daily income, that's for later in life, the horrible people there (bullies, etc..) are just character builders and can make you a better person. You also make friends though, it gives children that human connection they need outside of home and parents.

This is just bad parenting. Keeping your child in school up until the point where they can read write and do math is wrong. Because if they've only learnt reading and writing, they can't do complex math i.e. equations, algebra, geometry etc. And people will say it's useless but it still gives the child's brain skills it needs like problem-solving and basic intelligence. You can't expect your children to thrive when they have hardly any education, they hardly meet people, and everything is served to them on a silver platter. Also, saying they can go back to school when they're not under her roof makes no sense, because by that point they'll have no appropriate grades to get into a school, and then they'll have no qualifications for a job that doesn't involve social media, which is a huge risk. Basically this mother hasn't thought ahead about the lives of her children because she can't bear the thought of not controlling them in every way

As much as school is second level of hell, it does give you many skills and experiences. To introduce how the real world works, it sucks. People can be dicks. You get a lot of shit knowledge, that's useless.
But if you newer had any of that, you will have a really rough time in the real world.
I'm currently homeschooling I'm in 10th grade it's a Catholic homeschool program. I'm not going to lie it does get a little boring but it's not that bad because my older sister is also homeschooled and I hang out with my friends when they get out of school so it's not that bad. School right now is crazy and there are a lot of weird kids. I miss talking to my friends but it's fine because I can go to their house so it's not so bad other than that I love homeschooling. Oh, I also forgot to mention that it's super helpful because, in the public school, I sucked at essays, I could barely write 500-word essays, and now in homeschool im writing 2k-word essays so it's super helpful.

I was homeschooled for four years and I learned a lot we would get up at a good time get ready and me and my two sisters would learn every subject of school and it was good because we actually got to learn about what school provides for us to learn and way more and we could take our time on the subjects we needed so it really helped. Because we could actually sit there and learn until we actually get it but also I was so lonely and I. Went to school again this year and let’s just say that my sixth grade year (my first year of public school in four years) was the best year of my life because I needed to interact with other people but other than that I loved it
