Where the troops of the court yard
Sound the alarms
When you turned on your charms
For the brothers in arms
Caught a train
Did a rain dance
And to shooting forth
Is the froth of the fruit
It's a product cut from the cloth
Of his tear away suit
It's a great plan
He’s a great man
Please do explain
How it came back up the drain
I might have known
Being energy for golden throne
I can see the shine
The silver lining
The aerial’s packed
And I’m writing them down
Straight from desk
And a picture frame
With a zig zag destination
And the skeleton key
Hanging on the front door
For the panicking rooms
On the 13th floor
For no one
But everyone is invited
All these entertain
I can’t see them clearly
Tear more light in
Be a child
In your nursery
Try them on
Decide what’s more exciting
For the home, dear
For the home…
All songs written by Robert Pollard, Needmore Songs (BMI)
Produced by Travis Harrison
GBV: Robert Pollard, Doug Gillard, Bobby Bare Jr., Mark Shue, Kevin March
Let's put Pollard in charge of everything - everything from Congress to traffic. I give him a day before the whole place is Eden. He'd have another 9 albums done too
Great comment 👌👍😀
Third album in 2023. I like Bob's work ethic. Genius.
Not counting side projects 😀
He's an inspiring Guy
Prolific
Bob's mind is a cathedral of endless creativity
In the Fifth Dimension, Guided by Voices are the top selling band of all time.
Cheeky
I guess we gotta break the fifth wall!
The group with Marilyn Mccoo? LoL
Honestly it's better this way... If gbv / pollard were the top selling band of all time they would've quit like... I don't know... We would be out easily over 100 albums?? Maybe more? Lol
Tragically they only release an album every 6 years because of Pob Bollard's meticulous attention to detail and chronic bouts of writers' block. But man, those albums are bangers.
I love the old time gbv weird intro, then the powerful riffage.
Listening to a new GBV song for the first time is like drinking that first, cold draft of beer
Intro à la John Fahey...amazing song!
Who saw them at White Eagle Hall? Best show. I was the stage with GBV tattoo on my arm. Bob pointed at it a few times. Love them. Gillard is a beast. Stood in front of him
I’m very glad this beautiful music found me tonight.? It’s heartening to know there are still precious nuggets of good out there in this woebegone reality.
Another new album! Can't wait for Nov 24th!!
Read an article where Bob's talking about his early influences. He mentioned mid-sixties music. Now it all makes sense.
MASSIVE TUNE
Easily becoming one of my favorite GBV songs
Sound the alarm!
I like
Robert never ceases to amaze me the most prolific and hard working man in Show Business.🎉🎉🎉❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
I agree with his work ethic. I've done 4 hand screenprinted posters for GBV including the Boston show next week. RIP Amy Winslow.....😪
Goes hard
When are we gonna get some more music outta you, Bob, ya slacker, ..! 😀
Seriously, this is (more) great stuff from the band. I'm happy to say that I have almost all GBV albums, and Bob's solo and side project stuff. Rock onward, chaps!
New!!!!.
Right now!!!.
GBV!!!!
This entire album is brilliant and I hope Bob never loses his urge to enlighten us
You've already heard it?
@@classclown_79 usually a new Bob album for me has like 3 instant earworms, 12 - 15 great songs that take like 10 listens to catch on, and a few throwaways. NTGBU is literally 60% instant earworms, at least for me
@@JeffreyJDavis So you DO already have access to it ... 😅
@@classclown_79 no I do not but they played it end to end at GBV40. I was baked, but I dug it.
@JeffreyJDavis They did? Which night? I've watched both sets here on YT and I don't think I heard any brand new songs... handful from Welshpool Frillies.
Incredible Pollard again 😊
Yes indeed, Bob 👍🏻
this sounds kinda like a song that would be on august by cake!! brilliant stuff as always
Agreed!
and again, the lyrics... the intriguing guitar. Love it.
Could post the lyrics?
@@mjjames2442 it is in the description - below the title. GBV postet ir already
I love the almost flamenco-like intro. Haven't heard that on a Pollard tune since Tractor Rape Chain.
@@pronkb000 Spanish Coin?
More ear candy!! *hits repeat for the 4th time*
Love GBV and Robert Pollard ❤
another great one by bobby!!
spittin facts
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼GbV!!! GbV!!! GbV!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Beautiful song!! Can't wait for the new album! Also, I think that riff in 0:39-0:43 is a reference to Lady Godiva's Operation by Velvet Underground
I love when it goes: Doctor is coming the nurse speaks SWEETLY 📣🤪
I heard that as well!
@@emmineffin Robert always surprises us with great stuff!! 🤘
Banger!
thank you so much for another song
Oh shucks, and I just ordered the new Circus Devils & the last 5 GbV lps like a week ago! 😅
Circus Devils inhabit a universe all their own.Their discography covers so much ground and is so diverse, it's ridiculous!
@alaskatoburningmen4549 Couldn't pass it up, it's the only one I don't have 😂
@@ioncewasmikey A fellow Devils fan, nice!
I have everyone except the last one they did before quitting.Which is your fave?I would have to say "Ataxia" or "Mother Skinny" or "Escape" come to think of it,it has some really beautiful songs and sounds on it.
@@alaskatoburningmen4549 I'd probably pick Stomping Grounds or Gringo as my favorite. Though Ataxia is cool & Laugh's Last was solid. I'm just a fan of Bob! Seeing GbV in just over 2 weeks! It'll be my 4th time.
@@ioncewasmikey Gringo is lovely, have to catch up on "Laughs Last".Good for you, some of the later GBV are real gems, like Crystal Nuns or Goggles by Rank.
Rock level: Alpha adept!
I’m rocked to the max ❤️
Their previous album was the best since 2021!
Im still in tears.....great job my eternal friends!!
These lyrics are some fabulous poetry
For The Home is For The Win
Holy shite!
Wow, this is really different: awesome and unexpected!
the best thing since "Run Wild".
Uncle Bob marches forward. 👊
amazing. beautiful
Sounds awesome!
Love that ending
What was written about the Meat Puppets in 1987 applies to GBV! I'm paraphrasing but it said "They make you realize both strength and virtue in a rotten world." Do you not agree?
Balancing on the tightrope between brilliance and Status Quo.
That's interesting and I love Status quo
@@KOSMICKEN09 I like some early Quo (but don’t tell anyone🤫)
Banda infravalorada
I enjoyed your music. Some people miss solos, not me. Further, I ask, who needs a chorus? Not Black Sabbath, not this band, and not me.
They certainly showed the way to low-fi & monotone products.🧑🎨🎸🎹🎃♾️🙂🖕🤘
gas
a are thoughts my
the guy loves some genesis and some who. as i presume YOU do too?
Is this off Led Zeppelin 3?
Written by Tim Heidecker 🤔
I remember the exciting anticipation of hearing a new GBV record back in the day.. Now it’s more like dread, once so high now just so so
That sure is an opinion! 😉
but this is not that bad actually
I totally agree. Most objective listeners would have to agree, too. There is NO comparison between this mediocre tripe and the unique grandeur of tracks like "Gold Star for Robot Boy", "Goldheart Mountaintop Queen Directory", "A Portrait Destroyed By Fire", "Watch Me Jumpstart", "Big Boring Wedding", etc.
@@Chris.T.Ortez138 you're right, there isn't...because i like the newer stuff more
@@hellowhirledThat is a totally Bizzaro-world opinion to ME, but to each their own, man.
I'm glad for Bob's continued success but record-wise the magic was over at UTBUTS.
Wow. You're cool.
no
@poeticalbliss7882 Fair enough but music being subjective as it is, my opinion is as valid as yours.
