Kate Bush by a county mile. She wrote, produced it and directed the video. Always brings a tear to my eye.
Kate Bush by a landslide for me.
I hear that!!!
An avalanche.
There should be a law against people covering Kate Bush. What's the point? It will never be better than the original.
And while we're at it, the same goes for Barbara Streisand.
Kb..... By a landslide
Imitation Ice Cream is not ice Cream. Kate. Is. The. Talent.
Look, Maxwell's great and all, but Kate's in a completely different category.
I remember an anecdote from Elton John. He threw a party and everyone was there, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury and all the big people of the time. KAte had been out of the public eye for a few years and when she walked in, it's like nobody else was even in the room. The cream of the cream of the musical world only wanted to talk to her.
Kate is one of my personal heros.
She's the queen. A true uncompromising artist. Visionary. Unique. Her videos are works of art. Some of her songs tear at your soul. They are both simple and complex at the same time. Nothing she does has a "sellout" vibe. Nothing she does is typical or predictable. She insisted that "Wuthering Heights" to be her first single, even though it's a very odd song in many ways. She was right. She's a legend.
I would love to be in the room with all of them.
@@nerfbutt Totally agree - Kate Bush doesn't play/write music Kate Bush IS music, she lives, breathes, and thinks with a lyrical body, mind and soul.
I've heard that story, and it says a lot about her place in the music world.
You got part of the story right. The party in question was in 2005 to celebrate Elton & David's Civil Partnership. If Freddie Mercury was there it was quite a feat seeing that he died in 1991.
NO ONE WILL EVER SING THIS SONG THE WAY KATE BUSH DOES!
It's her song!
This song was from a movie called "She's Having A Baby" starring Kevin Bacon. The father is in the delivery room and is rushed out into the waiting room by the nurses. The mother and child's lives are hanging by a thread and all he can do is wait.
Heartbreaking.
Kate Bush actually wrote this song specifically to coincide with the montage in "She's Having a Baby". It's truly one of the most heart-wrenching scenes I've ever seen in any movie. Try playing that if you want to have good, old-fashioned, runny-snot ugly cry. Lol. Seriously. If you can watch that scene without crying, you're made of stone.
Awww Kate, one of the best song writers ever 💕
She Def is!!!!
Hands down!
She did not write this song Prince did with her help
@@raywerp2586 that’s absolute rubbish.
ray werp You got this wrong Ray he didn't contribute to this song in any way shape or form .. she got to meet him after one of his gigs as he knew she was in attendance and suggested doing some stuff but not on this song on the AlbumThe Red Shoes 👠 on one track.. Why should I love you , and she never really used much of what he offered too the track a piece of his guitar 🎸 and a little vocals.. and oddly enough got a British comedian Lenny Henry in to mix on that track instead.. you have any doubts go and cross check Ray , I liked Prince a lot .. but Kate is on another plane Mate ✌️
Kate is BEYOND unique and we are beyond blessed to have her amongst us 💜💜😌💜💜
I’m a big old mountain man and ten seconds of this song makes me ugly cry.
Not only you...
With you my friend
Yeah this is a killer song and kills me every time I hear It , the most talented solo artist of our shores in my life time and every Kate Bush fan will testify to this , big shout out too you's all as she takes us to the same place 😉❤️✌️
I got you beat by about 7 seconds :-)
Big old Irish man here. Yep, same. It rips your soul open, screams 'wake the F up, peace and love are the only worthy things'
Kates on a different planet. A true genius
Kate bush did this years before maxwell !! Pure beautiful sound from Kate !! Awesome voice !!
this song is just amazingly beautiful,, if you like this side of her music you gotta do "The Man With the Child in His Eyes"
also if you want your mind blown
the song "Don't Give up" the duet with Peter Gabriel and the cover version done by Pink and John legend
I honestly think the reason Maxwell did his cover is because he loves Kate's music
Kate Bush. Beautiful woman and artist, one of a kind.
Kate Bush is a genius!!! She sings from the HEART and it's from a woman's view. Each time I cry. "This Woman's Work" was featured in the movie "She's Having a Baby" with Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth McGovern (1988) and just recently "A Man Name Otto" with Tom Hanks.
Naturally I grew up on Kate Bush so I'm gonna say I love her version more. Maxwell did his thing and did well but I think if you asked him even he would say that Kate is the master and he loves her song more.
I feel you...!
Hi lovely lady. Old British bloke here, fell in love with Kate's singing in the late 70's (yes 1970's not 1870's we're not quite that old.) This is my favourite K. B. song,
I noticed in the background of your video that you had an advert for Simply Red, Holding back the years, and that is my favourite Simply red track. Spooky !!
The whole "Hounds of Love" album and the 45 or so minute track "Endless Sky of Honey" are her best work, in my opinion. ESoH is an audial experience. Close your eyes, put on your headphones, and open your ears. You're about to take a trip.
The guy in this film is Tim McInnery - Lord Percy in Blackadder!!
Lemming 998 y’all know everything I’m sure I seen something with him in it
Yes but was even better as captain darling in blackadder goes forth
@@douglastaggart9360 Yes, he was, darling!!
@@lemming9984 thanks sweetheart
He makes the purest green.
Kate’s is the original and the best.
The emotion and power in Kate's vocals is the epitome of talent. I have been a die hard fan for over 40 years and listening to her still causes me to catch my breath.
It’s a beautiful song. Kate is so original and Maxwell really does a wonderful job with it so it’s hard to pick a winner but Kate gives it a woman’s touch.
This song is used to great effect in the movie She's Having A Baby.
Yup, she wrote it specifically for the movie, a process she'd never done before but was so inspired by the scene she was sent, she wrote it pretty quickly.
Sometimes, I watch that clip of the movie. It kinda scared me when I had my last child, but everything went well.
Kate is the BEST
One of THE great artists in the last 40 years of music. Songwriting, singing, arrangement, production and sound design all on another level. There has never been nor ever will be anything like her music, and this was the swan song to an entire phase of her life.❤️ Kills me inside every time and at the same time...makes me feel so grateful for the power of music.
Too true !!
Go for Hello Earth from Kate's Hounds Of Love album. The video was also done by MrMarrs, who has done a lot of videos for her songs without official ones. And he does a wonderful job doing so.
I think someone sent me the real video bc I reacted to a fan made
Unfortunately there is no official video for this track or for any of the Ninth Wave tracks, apart from And Dream Of Sheep. It was recorded for her 2014 liveshow 'Before The Dawn'. The complete show was filmed to get released on DVD one day, but Kate decided to get it shelved....
Here is the official release for And Dream Of Sheep, 2014.

Kate Bush is a genius. Kate wrote this wonderful song. Maxwell is only covering it. Kate wins 100%.
For me, Kate hands down. Maxwell did a fine job but overall I feel there's something missing in his version
I hear that! lol
@@InAVeeCoop plus Kate Bush wrote it, produced, and recorded it. Most people think it's the other way round. But his was just a cover of her song.
The dispare is missing
In his cover
love both versions, but kate's is just on another level
This song always brings tears her love of her man and understanding his pain
Yes...!
The artistry, the ethereal quality, the depth but somehow remaining so light.... Yeah Kate Bush wins this one.
This was kate at her very best and the best song she ever wrote imo that is. Its beautiful.
Kate's voice will haunt you even if you do not listen to it for years as will her incredible beauty.
The lovely Tim McInnerny from Blackadder! Kate Bush......Genius xxxx
Kate Bush influenced everyone she was the first major female producer and sampler pushing the boundaries of computer based music production along side real orchestra instrumentation. Not only did she write and perform her songs she produced everything from her home studio. Which let me tell you is hard hard work.
Maxwell is a hige kate Bush fan. When he did this song the first time on MTV unplugged he said this song was done by kate Bush and she is the bomb, truly. He gives her the credit. Both great musicians
Kate Bush wrote this masterpiece 👏
I had no idea this song has been remade, but my feeling is that it needs to be sung by woman. It's all about perspective. Not to mention that Kate gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Talk about a haunting voice. If you want to dive into Kate, check out The Man With The Child In His Eyes, Wuthering Heights, and Running Up That Hill for starters. She is one of the most brilliant singer/songwriters ever.
35 years ago I had a crush on that lady, she is a genius talented lady , I am very happy to see todays generation discover her.
Kate Bush wrote the song, so I will always have to vote for her version, no matter who covers it.
Grrl, you're learnin' something new everyday, it's hard to keep up.
it really is...! I love you all
No contest, Kate a true artist
Keep well from England
Long time fan of Maxwell - saw Kate's first performance. Kate did this as part of a body of work: The Sensual World. Let's say that Maxwell benefited from her genius, but there's only one genius here
Let's not berate Maxwell as if he doesn't have classic music too. If Kate is S tier maxwell is at least A.
She actually wrote it for the movie "Having a Baby". It was included in the Sensual World album
Kate’s all day long, Maxwell also great singer but Kate has so much authenticity I just feel it more when she sings it. IMHO
Kate Bush just pure genius
I feel that this song means more to you than most people will ever know! Love both versions but kates original version is just another league for me
Kate Bush is amazing. ❤
No one could ever be compared to Queen Kate. One of the best artists of all time and our music world is a better place because of her. Been listening to her since the early 80s and her voice still moves me!! Glad you are getting to know her and her brilliance.
P.s. I do love Maxwells version
Many years ago I sent this version to a friend and few years later she sent me the maxwell version. Brings back wonderful memories of my beautiful friend who is no longer with us so both versions mean so very much to me.
She is the voice of god
The best thing Maxwell did was show a different generation what a real artist is…Kate’s voice is one of a kind and this song shows it off perfectly.
Kate was in the background of my life and no one does her songs like she does.
And the tears flow
awe...!
I’ve been in love with Kate forever, I’ve been under her spell since the early 80’s and I’ve never left the spell, she is an absolute genius I will always love her till the day I die
If you drop a tear its because you have a heart x
There is none like Kate. Many do her justice. She had been my fav favorite artist since I first heard her in 1986 and I was 9 years late to the party by then! Thanks for making this reaction video. This video always brings a treat to my eye. Definitely take a listen to ALL of her albums...in particular The Whole Story side B The Ninth Wave.
Comparing maxwell to Kate is like comparing a McDonald's to a meal from Gordon Ramsey.
Awe. Thats hella shade.
That's a terrible thing to say. Kate is a genius and an amazing artist and he covered this really well.
@@glenn20081965 Why is it terrible. I enjoy a big mac now and then.
that's a horrible thing to say. they are both amazing artist in their own right.
@@AvantGardeAristocrat Don't be so bloody sensitive. Are you related to him or something!
It's just my opinion. It's not horrible or otherwise.
I'm entitled to think his version is crap, just as you're entitled to think it's good.
What do you want? A society where nobody can express a negative view.
My views on music do not have the slightest bearing or effect on your life.
I personally think this is a Woman's song and should be sang by a Woman, not some sensitive little snowflake who has taken something sublime and( as far as I'm concerned,) tarnished it.
I love that you appreciate this wonderful artist!
Thank you...! Ya'll collectively put me on to better artists
Omg, I've been trying to reply for like, days! A glitch wouldn't let me. ANYWAYS, thanks for responding to my request. It's a first for me! F.Y.I., many of Kate's videos are fan made. Some are very nicely done. Best to just listen to the studio version of the song then, go seeking the official videos, and lastly, the fan made ones. That's how we all first experienced most of it. Just through the ears. And you have quite an open ear, yourself! Subscribed, and looking forward to more.
Thank you...! I truly appreciate you.
Kate Bush by far no one can do it better then her No One..........
I feel you. I'm honored to learn about her now. Better late than never
im a 51 year old man and loved her since day one , the kate bush story is on YT great watch she so fragile but very strong and beautiful.
wow!!! She is def a great and magical artist
I cry all the time listening to Kate Bush, because it's so beautiful it really does hurt!
I've been a Kate Bush fan from a very young age and this is just one of her many beautiful tracks. She wrote this for the John Hughes film "She's Having A Baby", starring Kevin Bacon & Elizabeth McGovern. When you watch the film, it puts the lyrics of the song in context. However, it is a wonderfully emotional song of its own accord. The film is pretty good too and well worth a watch if you haven't seen it 🙂
Kate Bush wrote the song so yes, she’s probably been making coin from Maxwell’s version.
That's an interesting question. I've always thought that after a certain amount of time had passed that songs became "public domain". Not sure where I heard that, but I hope Kate gets some royalties.
@@juliewhite7469 I believe the period of public domain was extended due to stars like Cliff Richard. There was certainly some sort of legal case a while back.
@@davidm7847
Thank you for the reply. This question came up in another reaction video of Vanilla Ice. Commentors said he gets little to no royalties from "Ice, Ice, Baby" due a lawsuit from Queen and I believe it was also David Bowie. Their claim was that the repeated series of notes (the hook) was stolen from the song "Under Pressure". So apparently eventhough the lyrics were all original he lost the case because they claimed he sampled their work without permission.
@@juliewhite7469 Yeah, that’s a famous one. The riff was blatant theft. The funny thing is Bowie was very chill about samples and such, but you had to ask first.
You are so adorable! I must give this one to the original song writer - Kate Bush.
The one and only kate
Kate Bush for the win
Inavee Coop you reaction to Kate Bush....Priceless!.....and probably very similiar to how Maxwell did when he heard it the first time which is why he covered it....I'm an older black dude from Texas and traveled as a musican so me and other cats have had years of whose better conversations...you can take someone elses joint and slow it down, speed, spice and church it up...embellish and do runs at certain points where the original singer/songwriter didnt because its their song and how you hear it from them is what flowed through them when writing the arrangement and melody..So in the case of "This Woman Work" Kate painted the beautiful original on canvas, Maxwell made a print of the original but, decided to put a nice frame on it..so some make feel it looks better......your reaction reminds of a story David Bowie told about being backstage after one of his concerts and a youngster said, "OMG you did "The Man Who Sold The World" that so cool you did a Nirvana song (they covered it on MTV Unplugged)...its David Bowie's song...lol....there are many examples.. Otis Redding wrote and performed "Respect" but Aretha covered it and pretty much became her signature tune in most people's eyes I believe..it goes on, on and on!
I cry with this song so much. My mam nearly died having me and she still preaches protectices at me every day. Im bloody 34 years of age 🤣
Please do a reaction video for “Moments of Pleasure”. It was written about Kate’s loved ones that have passed on. She gives them a lovely tribute. Other brilliant videos from Kate are “Red Shoes.” “King of The Mountain”, which was written about Elvis the King is brilliant. “And Dream of Sheep” is very dramatic.
Fill buckets of tears Hun, I do.😁🤗
Best artist in the world
Kate bush fan.. Right here.. X
Kate Bush wrote the lyrics, music performed the piano, produced the track and directed and stared in the video. Sadly it was only on a soundtrack to a movie in America and did not chart. Maxwell did one of the best cover versions ever but give it up to the original and best
Kate!
Check out the song Wuthering heights from her first album- the kick inside (1978) . She was 19 when she made it. Have a box of Kleenex nearby
If you drop a tear it means you have a heart.
Cheers !! 😘
Cheers!
There is Only ONE winner here .....KATE BUSH
Probably the most emotional song ever written and ever sung. Music to slit ur wrists to, Oh calm down!
Please react to Don't Give Up. It is an absolute must for anyone who appreciate Kate Bush.
Written composed produced by Kate Bush whoever cover it, the lion part of the royalties go to...
Kate Bush is Everything!
and more!!!
I only know the original Kate Bush version ,never heard of Maxwell I guess I need to check his version out!
Kate Bush is a British institution.
Kate Bush...but he did a lovely job and another beautiful film clip too
Right, huh?! She can make you cry 4 bars in! Maxwell's cover is terrific, and it gives the song a whole new dimension hearing a man sing it! It becomes The Man's TRIBUTE to Women, as opposed to A Woman lamenting Their age-old burden.
A comment on something you asked at one point: when an artist like Maxwell covers another artist's song, he must pay royalties to the artist who wrote the song (in this case, Kate) and the publishing company who owns the rights. (Kate owns all her own publishing, so she gets it all!) A percentage automatically comes off each album sold, and gets distributed to the parties concerned. I hope that helps!
Keep up the good work, Darlin'! I LOVE what You do! xo
@lesleakeurvorst3148 Kate is actually singing from the man's (Kevin Bacon's) perspective in the 1988 film. She's written from the man's perspective on a number of songs.
Even after nearly 35 years, it still gets me tearing up
Kate Bush xx
Kate Bush OBVIOUSLY
Kate Bush, wow, a unique artiste. X
I forgot Kate bush one made me cry... ❤️❤️❤️
Ok, as a Maxwell fan- and someone who sings, Maxwell's version is flawless, pitch perfect- however I never understood the message behind this song and Kate makes it clear in her version with voice tone, pitch and the video it's self- Still hands down, Maxwell- Kate is the creator- Maxwell is the TRUTH!
The man with the child in his eyes , she was 14 when she wrote that song , Wow what a songwriter what a lady
The smile on the nurses face lets you know it's a happy ending.
This song still makes me cry
it truly is a tear dropper
Would love for you to React to Tori Amos “Precious Things”, “Spark”, “Crucify”, “Me & a Gun”, “Caught A Lite Sneeze”, “Little Earthquakes” and more 💗
Yeah Tori !!!
Caught a Lite Sneeze is the JAM!
Aww now I don't know if it is fair comparing much of anyone to Kate so certainly no shade on Maxwell. I'm glad he brought this beautiful song to a new generation and hopefully get you all to give her a little listen beyond. Thanks for the spotlight on this gem
It too me to start reacting to even know where the song came from. Hopefully many others catch on. Bc im over 20 years late myself
beautiful
Cry every time I hear this.
Never seen this video... The male character is Tim McInnerny, from BlackAdder fame... Oh, Captain Darling... 😂
Why are people so freaked out that she write this song? Lots of songs are written that other performers sing. She was big in the UK in the 80s but never made it big in the US idk why maybe she was too theatric but her songs and videos are all over the place.
“I love you Darling”
Pure emotions
You know that Kate wins hands down when it takes you only 10 seconds to well up.
It’s an absolute disgrace that Kate isn’t in the rock n roll of hall of shame, she is by far the most deserving artist that should be there.
