UGGs in the US were never made in Australia 🥾

There was a ton of confusion about the history of the UGG brand in the US on TikTok. After I studied abroad in Australia, I quickly realized that the UGGs in the US were never made in Australia. The founder was an Australian surfer in Southern California and named the brand "UGG Australia" - in 2016 they had to drop the word "Australia" from the brand name because it was deceiving.
Here is my quick breakdown of the history of UGGs in the US.
HISTORY OF UGG
1978 - Australian surfer Brian Smith and Doug Jensen founded UGG in California
1979 - Jensens sold shares to Smith
1985 - Registered US trademark Original UGG Boot UGG Australia
1994 - 80% of sales were from SoCal
1995 - Deckers acquired UGG Australia for $14.6 million
2003 - UGG Australia featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things
2005 - I studied abroad in Australia and discovered UGGs were not from Australia
2006 - 1st Int’l store opened in Japan
2012 - Reported $1 billion sales
2016 - Rebranded from UGG Australia to UGG because of a complaint from Australia's consumer protection and fair competition laws
Also, there are 3 UGG brands:
1) UGG - founded in 1978 in the US
2) UGG Australia was established in 1981 in Australia
3) UGG Since 1974 (also from Australia)

UGG now with a big G in the US have no correlation with the Original UGG brand since 1974 and actually stole their product and name are are now spending millions in legal fees to sue the original 1974 sellers for copyright infringement when the 1974 sellers are the ones who pioneered and invented the product. It’s disgusting and I can’t fathom anyone but the most corrupt people supporting something like that. And Yes the original 1974 UGGs are of much higher quality. Everybody in the US is getting a half baked version from china while simultaneously supporting corruption on the highest levels.
