Hello ☺️, I started out as a clarinet player and got converted to oboe. I had such a rough relationship with the oboe because so much is needed from that instrument. I played oboe when I was in highschool. Now it's been 13 years. Last year I was able to perform in a Christmas program and it gave me hope again. I'm playing again this year but for some reason my high notes are so sharp and airy and I can't apply dynamic with the reed I have. I have open parts where it's just me so I'm trying to make my tone sound better. I don't make reeds and I have a hard time getting more so I know my reed is probably too old but it still plays better than other reeds I own (accidentally got medium light thinking I wouldn't out blow them). I normally use a medium reed. I will try to play around more with my embouchure and stamina and hope for this best this December 🥲. Thank you for your advice.❤

Find an oboe teacher or oboe student in a nearby music school and get handmade reeds directly from them. A good handmade reed makes note response, intonation, and tone quality sound much much better than any store-bought reed.
Plus, if you can meet them in person, you can demonstrate your playing and they can make adjustments to your reeds on the spot.

@@Jwellsuhhuh I'm not sure honestly. Since COVID alot of music shops near me closed so I'll have to do some research
