Tenth video on subject and finally exactly what i was looking for. Full background info, emphasis on safety, clear and easy to understand. Great job I am subscribing ( Like a boss!)
Thanks for the great vid! Yours was one of the most helpful in helping me change out a breaker-just today-after researching the daylights out of the subject. Another vid was super helpful too, because that one used the EXACT type of breaker as mine. Thanks so much! Know that you're enhancing the quality of life of DIYers out here. And maybe SAVING that life with your safety tips too. Take care & stay healthy!
This was a good video... straight and to the point! Most of these videos these guys like hear themselves talk talk, talk and talk before they get to the actual nitty gritty of fixing the damn thing!
As everyone has already stated, this is a rockstar how-to video. You explain things clearly and simply so that anyone can follow. This is incredibly helpful, it's awesome. You manhandled that video and signed off like a BOSS! Thank you good sir. Legend!
Very helpful! I have had an issue with the buzzing and cascading power failures in a house I've lived in for some time. Overheating is a constant issue. Now I know I need to replace my breakers and the tools required. Tyvm! :)
Great stuff, thanks. I might add (if no one else has), use Rubber Soled shoes, use plywood or wood beneath your feet as extra precaution especially if your floor is damp such as in a garage... Rubber gripped tools when possible. Don't over tighten any screw heads and be .."just like a Boss" lol
I had a little struggle with a clip-on circuit breaker so I prepped the breaker bus with some electrical lubricant prior to putting on a new one. It works. Was it a bad idea, though? Thanks.
Thank you very much for this video, you tell people what tools do we need, very step by step, Gbu, I don't understand what kind of people give thumbs down for video, I think it's true the evil likes water, they are everywhere.
Thanks for the video! It is a huge help. I love that you put safety first. I do have a question. If you are changing the breaker from a 40 to a 50 do you have to change out any of the wires or is it the same process?
I’m NOT an electrician but I think that you have to be careful if you put a higher load circuit breaker in. The wires leading to your outlets could overheat if the wire gauge is not thick enough. For example Space heaters can trip the breaker, but if you up the amp on the breaker wires might overheat and not trip the breaker.
Amazing video! I followed your instructions and changed a breaker myself (with no mishaps!) Thank you so much ! I even bought the electrical testing equipment that I should have had years ago, thanks for your safety message also
You are the Boss!! ( In a Very low voice , from a safe distance from your home like the Closest airport) dont let anyone tell you otherwise ( disclaimer: except wife)😂👍💪
You are right on. Safety first and foremost. I like the way you double check to make sure no electricity are current goes thru the bolt. You made a very good and Thur video. I don't know anything about this subject you you helped me a lot. Thank you so much. James in Texas.
We had our power shut off temporarily last week, and this week I've noticed a really annoying electrical buzz/hum going through the walls. I'm curious as to if something got messed up around that time. I also hit the test button for my bedroom breaker and it killed the power in that room and seems to not be coming back on. My main concern is fixing that annoying buzz; it makes it hard to relax and sleep.
Thanks for the helpful video. I really like your details, narration style and focus on safety. Clicked on the subscribe so I look forward to your future vids. LIKE A BOSS!! 👍👍👍
Awesome detailed video. Question. Ive Lived in this house for 2 years now and the breakers had never tripped till about 4 days ago . If the ac is on for more than 25 minutes the braker trips and it feels hot. I've ran ac and heat for days at a time and never did this . Can it be just the breaker that's gone bad and overheating? Thanks
Question! I had my electrical heater plugged in while I was vacuuming (I know, I know!) and all of a sudden my lights in my room won’t turn on, and the outlets won’t work. I’ve tried turning the breakers off/ on and nothing with that wall. What do you suppose could be the issue?
Yup.. simple 'n understanding. Also, good point as far as "Shutting down the Main breaker", which i noticed that other videos don't bother to point out, i guess a Zap/Shock doesn't matter? Gee.. really?
I have one, my main circuit in the box is bad and needs changing but I'm not sure what to do, in one video it just pops out, another, you screw, I have the outside power pole cut off and my tester isn't working, I'm not sure what to do
I'm trying to determine why my 60amp breaker won't reset. I don't see a main breaker switch for the panel. would the main panel be outside next to the meter box? or is the 60amp breaker the main breaker switch?
Our breaker went out today, we popped it back to on and some of the outlets came back with power and some didn’t, anyone know if I need a new breaker??? I can’t get a electrician in right now because of covid 19
You can do both , mostly depending if you have enough wire to pull them out or how easy it is to pull them out with the wires, we choose comfort level.
Only if your wire is sized correctly. For example: 120v with a 20amp breaker you need a minimum 12 gauge wire at any point in the circuit, for 30 amp you'd need 10 gauge minimum. The idea is that the breaker should be the weakest link in the circuit to prevent the wires from overheating (and damaging electronics or causing a fire). For example: 20 amp breaker with 14 gauge wire at any point in the circuit is a fire hazard.
I have a fish smell coming from my HVAC circuit breaker and keeps tripping. I'm calling an electrician bc I read the smell could mean burning wires. Thanks for the video though.
not simple when you live in a condo and don't have access to the main....and management is a bunch of S heads.....i know you can do it with the main on, but there are risks.....

I've ran ac and heat for days at a time and never did this . Can it be just the breaker that's gone bad and overheating? Thanks
a breaker is not suppose to overheat, it can be the breaker. but it is always best to contact a pro to have a check.
yes the breaker is failing.
Man, was that all business: I like it!
WOW THANK YOU!

in some cases main breaker can be found out side or in another location or even sometimes next to the breaker box in another box.
you might have a short causing it not to reset.
Thank you
Our breaker went out today, we popped it back to on and some of the outlets came back with power and some didn’t, anyone know if I need a new breaker??? I can’t get a electrician in right now because of covid 19
Many videos show them pulling the breaker out before disconnecting the wires, what are the pros and cons?
You can do both , mostly depending if you have enough wire to pull them out or how easy it is to pull them out with the wires, we choose comfort level.
F*cking AWESOME!!!...Thank you so much...
Can I replace a 20amp breaker with a 30 amp?
Only if your wire is sized correctly.
For example: 120v with a 20amp breaker you need a minimum 12 gauge wire at any point in the circuit, for 30 amp you'd need 10 gauge minimum.

For example: 20 amp breaker with 14 gauge wire at any point in the circuit is a fire hazard.
How much is to replace a braket circuit?
Depends can go from $8 to $150 even more depending on the breaker
Bru how to check wires is short from the breaker?

thanks for the vid, it make me like a boss in front of my wife...after a took a small hit with electricity 😂

dont let your circuit breakers do drugs
WARNING: using the hole in the panel for ground is only acceptable if you DO NOT touch the painted area. Ground must be to bare metal.
You don't mention that the wire needs to go between the 2 "plates" not against the screw - against the screw is a no-no
not simple when you live in a condo and don't have access to the main....and management is a bunch of S heads.....i know you can do it with the main on, but there are risks.....
