I took my first dog to a reputable groomer once in her entire 7yr life. She came out two hours later traumatized, she never acted the same, and passed two months later from an infection. My current dog will be 15 in November. She has NEVER been groomed by ANYONE, but me. She has NEVER been left with ANYONE when I go on vacation, but my daughter. You can’t trust people.

It's always this way with the young or sweet animals. Mothers who kill their children never get life in prison though I'd argue they are worse than a drunk driver. Animals who get abused either only get rescued because the ASPCA have to let them off lightly in order for them to surrender the animal. Outrageous.

Franchises need to do better background checks if they are related to animal or human care! I saw on investigative tv shows where day cares that abused kids had either owners or employees with history of abuse or pedos and it slipped thru the cracks because there was no national data base to check on licensing! @@ES11777I started an mobile in home dog grooming business 10 yrs ago and the owners were so glad to be able to see how their dogs were being treated. Often my first visit is quite an affair since most have never seen their dogs get groomed and they are just fascinated about seeing the process.
I do grooms from my own home as well and always tell clients they can stay for the groom if they like and some of them do.
We meed to get laws changed so that abusing animals of any kind is the same as abusing a person!!!

Now your getting it. How hard can it be to learn how to wash your dog, get out the scissors and clip its hair, get out the ear drops and clean the ears, trim the inside ear hair. I do this for my dog. He does not trust groomers. Now I know why. We tough it out together. It takes about 2 hours, but when it is done we are both happy and I just paid myself 40 bucks an hour. She is a Shitzu, rescue.

I have a 4lb. Maltese that was abused before I adopted him, I will not tolerate any form of mistreatment to any animal. Having done animal rescue for over 20+yrs,I have seen some horrific cases.
Yes abuse is present with grooming alot more than we know or is reported.
I have learned how to groom my little Maltese, sometimes he turns out really cute, sometimes he don't, but at least he is safe.
If you suspect this is happening report it.
My dogs are like my kids, I just didn't have to send them to college, and they don't talk back. They love unconditionally, we are their voice and protectors.

A similar case happened in Arizona a while ago. being a pet groomer does not necessarily mean they love animals.
There are a lot of evil people being in the profession they are for all the wrong reasons. Easy access to victims. Nurses, teachers, dog groomers/sitters, caregivers for the elderly. The list goes on. We need to protect the most vulnerable from monsters!

Good. Additional punishments for animal abuse and cruelty in the US should be far stricter, at least minimum 10 year jail sentence. The new federal law called pact, animal cruelty is a federal felony punishable by 7 years in prison and exorbitant fines.

I wish... Our Aussie/BC rescue came from a group of 100+ dogs rescued out of a hoarding situation. She had been there at least 5 years, was only 16 pounds (a 40 pound breed) and had pneumonia. This hoarder house was the 2nd time, this hoarder had been arrested in 10 years. They gave the old hag & her son 6 months each & court cost, medical reimbursement of around $35,000. They ended up taking the property for taxes & restitution & it had to be demolished, because of the stench & condition. There is little justice, she is likely at it again, 5 years later.

Probably because a lot of wealthy people take their pets there for grooming. Poor people can’t afford a service like that. The wealthy and their pets matter….the poor and their pets do not matter.

FACTS
I took a dog to obedience class and it was the best experience for both of us. The dog owners worked with their dogs. Once a week for 10 weeks. From the first day it was amazing how much he learned. I guarantee it increased his devotion to me. Never occurred to me to take him to someone else or for grooming. I spent the money on squeaky toys and rawhide chews.
No one would touch my dogs without me present.
if your animal appears terrified to be going to the groomer, listen to them. Pay attention to their behaviour So they don't end up in the hands of an abuser using their business to do their dirty work.
I’ve never been a violent person but the closest I get to imagining becoming violent is if someone abused my dog, she’d be in trouble - I hope I’ll never get tested this way. This woman is disgusting!
Never leave anyone alone with your pet. I learned the hard way too when our vet made a 6 thousand dollar mistake that thankfully did not kill our baby but it added 6 months to his already hard recovery.

....and that folks is why I wouldn't leave a dog of mine unsupervised at a groomers. I've heard plenty of horror stories, such as the monster highlighted here.
I tried staying in the waiting room while my dog was being groomed, but it didn't workout bcuz she knew I was there even though she couldn't see me, she sensed and knew I was there. The groomer couldn't get her full attention, so I had to leave or wait in the car. I have the worst anxiety about groomers bcuz of situations like this. Even though I have been going to the same person for several years it doesn't get any easier bcuz anything can happen in their hands. It's so hard and exhausting to find a good, kind, and honest groomer you can totally trust.

Enough is enough already! With the many cases of groomers abusing pets that we have constantly been seeing on the news in the past couple of years, it should be made MANDATORY for ALL grooming salons to have cameras in every room of their salon so that pet owners can access it via Wi-Fi to check up on how their pets are being treated. If groomers are not willing to do that, then say NO to their business and find another one that has nothing to hide. If we love our pets then we would never put them at risk for going through this. . . EVER!
This is why I learned to groom my dog myself because I swear on my own life and everything I love, if she was caught on camera abusing my dog, I would be sitting in a prison cell without a care.
My rescue dog is what brought me back from the edge when I went through the worst depression of my life where nothing mattered anymore. So I would have nothing to lose!

Years ago, I took our Sheltie in to PetsMart for a nail trim as they were having some 'special.' When he climbed up my arm as they grabbed at him, we walked out the door. The woman said I needed to train my dog better & I laughed in her face, and said he was well-trained but SHE needed more training. You don't just grab a dog out of their owners arms and expect them to like it. His owner (ME) was known to Bite!!

Never take your dog to a Petsmart or Petco they have the worst reputation when it comes to dog grooming. They have so many lawsuits against them. They're the reason why I avoided all groomers for the longest time but I had to eventually give in and find a good kind professional groomer bcuz I couldn't do it myself at home. Even though I did find a groomer and have been taking my fur-baby to the same person for several years but still doesn't lessen my high anxiety for this matter regarding evil groomers.
When I picked up my Bichon Frise from Pet Smart, the groomer said he was nasty when she was clipping his nails.He practically flew into my arm s in fear of her.He was the sweetest most docile little boy, & obviously the problem was HER. That's the only time I took him there. RIP Peabody ❤

I’ve only found one decent groomer in city of Seminole. Every where else we’ve been has been horrid. If my boys don’t want to go in, pay attention, there’s a reason. One place was so bad my boy was bleeding and I had to rush home to get medical supplies. There was blood everywhere
I used to work at a dog kennel and I gotta say I don’t trust anyone with my pets! I wish pets were considered kids and not objects because my pets are definitely my babies!
I would never hire a groomer for my pet because you do not know how they are treated. Hopefully she will meet up with some prison justice.
This is exactly why I do not take my dog to groomers. I watch RUclips videos and taught myself how to trim, cut nails unfortunately, my Frenchie doesn’t grow hair so we’re good.

Lord knows, I am a peaceful person. But I hate to think what I would do if I ever found out someone abused my lil baby. She is only 7 lbs. Sweet and so gentle. I love my Maltipoo to know end. I love animals, absolutely love them. I can not imagine the horror those animals went through. Justice is demanded against this horrible person!

No wonder why my dog never wanted to go to the groomer. I am now my dog's only groomer. It takes hours, but he is groomed with love.

I picked up my little kitty one day from our groomer and noticed once we’d gotten to the car she had peed all over the carrier. I NEVER took her there again. I don’t know that there was abuse, but I know it was loud and everything moving quickly and she’s just not one to be rushed due to trauma early on as a rescue. Anyway, I happened to find the greatest groomer by chance and she is SOOOOO wonderful and my kitty comes home and she’s happy and she rubs all over me. I listened to and was aware of her body language and I knew she wasn’t comfortable and kept her from having anymore negative trauma in her life. ♥️😸

i am always super scared when i give my dog to groom mostly if you have a dog that you know don't like to be groomed you wonder what they do to get it done, i always stay waiting... there's some groomers that have a window so you can see what they do, i think that's the way it should always be, you should be able to see what they are about.
