CLARE! THIS IS BRILLIANT (yes I am yelling). All of my men love this design. I donate all of my work to a local senior center. The amount of yarn, ease of design allows me to make them affordably and quickly. Thank you so much for sharing your talent, humor and kindness with us😊
Yay! Thank you! This is an improved version that uses hdc stitch to make the hat have more structure. you will find it is a simular construction to the original
I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have done this hat twice now, and still doesn't look like a hat. The brim is great, but the back of the had is too large a floppy. I have ripped it out and started again, decreasing the rounds and is still too large at the back. I ripped out the last row of single crochets and decreased a number of stitches, is better but.... Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong. I also am assuming that you use the larger needle when you change to the double strand for the brim. Do I need to change to the smaller needle to make the last single crochet round?
Yes, the large hook is used for the brim, I am not sure why the back is looking floopy. If you change to the smaller hook for the last round that will help bring the back of the hat in a little bit. Great idea to do some decreasing at the back of the hat to combat the floppyness.
Hi Clare, first of all I want to thank you for this tutorial. I have been searching for this type of hat for a very long time. I am making this for a baby boy for 3 months. I need to crochet the circle up to 13 cm before increasing for the brim. When I finished the second round of increasing it starts to wave and gets more wavier as I proceed increasing every other round while yours lays flat. Should I continue just as you do? Will this going to be okay when I start decreasing?
I tried by skipping the first round of increaeses and started by the second round of increases with 3 hdc in between, works much better. Thank you for your respons❤
I guess only ppl who use cm will get the formula, those of us who still use inches are lost...I am anyway, LOLOL. Are we supposed to keep increasing to the width of the circumference of our head or...?
Can you tell me where to fnd the pattern to this hat in the video is at the one i found is red and not made the sameplease let me know where to find this exact pattern. thank you
1:04:59 You worked hdc's at the start of this increase row on the brim. Not sure if you were saying the right thing and doing it wrong, or doing the right thing and saying it wrong.😅

It has never been hit or miss on making a hat fit since you first showed this formula. I use it all the time.
Hi!! That is the best feedback I have heard all year! Hope you are well
I’ve even used that formula at work a few times.
Yay! Clare, the OG is making crochet videos again!
More to come! Did you see my crochet shower scrubby pattern?

Oh I forgot to mention. I’m using a thinner yarn using a 3.5mm hook
@gracetercock8758 thank you! To tell the truth I am not sure, if you are worried, you could take out a round of increase.
I tried by skipping the first round of increaeses and started by the second round of increases with 3 hdc in between, works much better. Thank you for your respons❤
You are fun to listen to lol 😊
Oh thank you!
Thank you❤🎉
I m writing from Türkiye 😊
No worries
I need to buy ten ply yarn . going to attempt this hat in smaller yarn
I'm going to hold off on this and get the proper yarn. Gone to make a wrapped around yarn for a dress by Sunday .
You can make this in a smaller yarn, you will need a smaller hook and probably more rounds of increase.
On the third row of the brim, did you mean to say half double crochet or single crochet?
Sorry about that, I meant to say single crochet
You did a combination of half double and single crochets though. @@CrochetwithClare
In minute between 1:05:03 - 1:05:28 you said single crochet but you did half double crochet😊
Ah yes, I see that. Thank you!
I guess only ppl who use cm will get the formula, those of us who still use inches are lost...I am anyway, LOLOL. Are we supposed to keep increasing to the width of the circumference of our head or...?
Most tape measures have both cm and inches on them. To get your head circumference you just divide 3.14 by how many inches your head is. So 19”/3.14=6
I wish you can do this one in "single crochet" it is beautiful but i never did this one
You can use single crochet, I would suggest 2 extra rows on the side
Can you tell me where to fnd the pattern to this hat in the video is at the one i found is red and not made the sameplease let me know where to find this exact pattern. thank you
Hi, i am still working on the written pattern. At the moment i only have the video.
Is there a written pattern? Thanks
It’s on her website linked to her channel!
I have been looking for this pattern and do not see it on your site o Etsy?
I haven't got it on my Etsy, thank you for reminding me
1:04:59 You worked hdc's at the start of this increase row on the brim. Not sure if you were saying the right thing and doing it wrong, or doing the right thing and saying it wrong.😅
was I supposed to be doing single crochet?
😊😊
thank you for watching!
At 1:05:06 are we supposed to be working sc or hdc?
Hdc
Ohhhhhh! It's all supposed to be single crochet on the brim.
No hdc on the brim, so sorry about that
@@CrochetwithClare ah, okay. Thanks for clearing that up! No worries.
No worries, My brain was so used to doing hdc it couldnt cope with the change over haha
@@CrochetwithClare I’ve done that in patterns and found out three rows later that I somehow used the wrong stitch. 😝
I am unable to find the written pattern. Can someone help me out?
Hello, the written pattern is still being tested, I will have it available ASAP
Is this not your Cast Off Crew cap?❤
THe construction is simular and looks the same, it is a improved version
Your pattern says multiply and your video says divided it’s very confusing
Oh really....is that where you have to divide into 3? It should be divide.
Thank you for bringing that to my attention
Talk a lot
OK, I will.
Clare, I love this cap...it's very cool!!🤗😍
Thank you 😊
A great hit 💖💖💖
Thank you!
