- Want to turn wool fleece into lovely carded fiber ready for spinning? Think that carding fiber takes too long or is too hard? Meet the drum carder! Otto and Joanne Strauch stopped by The Woolery to give us an introduction to the wonderful world of drum carding. They cover how a drum carder operates, clever tips and tricks, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Get your hands on one of these machines and you can make custom color and fiber blends that will keep your spinning wheel happy for years to come!
I have the motorized version and I absolutely love it!!! The video is terrific, too! You guys are wonderful.
I have no idea what any of this means, but you go, funky yarn man!
Great video for a first timer at spinning and carding. I really enjoyed watching this and learning some things from a pro!
🥰 thank you .....very good
GREAT EXPLANATION THANKYOU, VERY HELPFUL
on day i will visit there shop........
labai gera masina, noreciau tokios, kur galima isigyti ir kokia kaina.
How about adjustment of the space between the drums? When there was too much fiber on the licker drum I made the space between the drums smaller and results are better but I wonder if there should be less space.
Thanks for the roving tip! I own this drum carder and love it. I card fiber from my herd of alpacas on it for spinning.
This season I've got a Suri alpaca with an extra long staple length (up to 8" or more!)
Do you have any tips on processing a longer staple length on this carder?
My machine makes a lot of little nips when I feed very fine fiber into it. I run it as slow as possible, feed small, thinly spread portions of fiber into it and have 172 tpi. I can't understand why I keep getting the little nips of fiber. Do you have any ideas as to what is going on?
Good video seem like good people and helpful
going slow might be your problem, the swift must go faster than the licker-in.
