Have a listen to Vince Neil towards the retirement of the Crue to hear the latter. Its a shame that time is a "thing". I would LOVE to be able to hear SteelHeart as they were in the 90's once more or even DreamTheater as they were on Images and words era. I grew up on 80's metal and a singer was measured back then on how high they could sing just like guitarist were measured on their ability to shred. Awesome times.

Not only does the nature of the job include singing even up to 14 hours a day, they also cope with depression with destructive habits like smoking, drinking, and whatnot. Classical singers are very critical about keeping their voices as pristine as possible, even completely stopping any talk after performances, and yet their vocal timbre lasts only up to 40 or 50.
the bad habits are the greatest killers. You have people in metal who take good care of their voice and they last a very long time but you also have people like axl rose who ruined their voice within a matter of years. the problem is not the job, it's the fact that smoking, drinking and drugs are seen as "cool" or even a "must" for the rock/metal world and that does catastrophic damage to the vocal cords in the long run
classical singers' voices last a lot longer than age 40 or 50. Classical singers overall experience a lot less vocal damage than contemporary singers because they use safe and efficient technique. Correct airflow, posture, practice, etc will give a lasting career in music. In comparison to other contemporary singers coming of age, Miljenko still has great voice.

MMatijevic still the best. Some performers can sing well today but in 1991 no one can beat steel heart for this song.
