I know that feeling as I've been there...now I'm running my 11th one...always feel excited because it always feels like it's my first one. Lots of support during the race is what keeps you going!
I loved your video. I'm 64 and have run 17 marathons but none since I was 28. I've lived in Hawaii for 53 years. I never got over running but had to stop due to injuries. I am now better and plan to run Honolulu after Covid. Your video gives my the inspiration to keep going. By the way, I was born in Chicago and lived there 11 years. Thanks so much! Aloha!
Amazing..... I did my first 13.1 this year for the Kentucky Derby Festival. I was in so much pain from my IT Band and knee. I refused to give up. It is totally a mental fight with yourself to keep going. I am running the Chicago Marathon this year for charity. You did sooooo amazing Ken!!! Such an inspiration :)
Such a sweet person! I was at the back of the pack with my best friend, too. I gutted out the last 11 miles with bad pain in my quads, a blister and I lost two toe nails later! I broke down in tears when I crossed the finish line, I was so relieved. It was a good experience though. And I agree that they need to spend more money on signs so people can find the bathrooms.
Good job pare, very inspirational, truly motivating. I thank you so much for this wonderful video, doing this for 2019 and I've never done a single marathon, been searching for some uplifting videos and this is by far the best for Chicago marathon I've seen.
Congratulations again Ken! You’re amazing!! Thanks for sharing your video. It was fun to re-live the race! And you’re right - I totally agree about the lack of security personnel and how that needs to improve. It took me forever to get through security to get to my corral and the organization around the security checkpoints was nonexistent!
Great job - awesome job. You inspired me as I prepare for my first marathon that I am running this weekend (Chicago 2019). Thanks for the information and the inspiration.
Congratulatios, Ken!!!! You did great!!! Thanks for sharing your experience with us... If you take a look at 10:56 you will find me on the only point we shared on the course (on the left of the screen)... It is incredible we shared a moment of this awesome experience.
Congratulations Ken! great video and brings back so many happy memories for me of my best race so far. Your first major is always special and what a place to do it!
congratulation man. your video is so personal, so touching me. others videos they are like so professional run from the start to the finish. you are different. thank you man. you are awesome. great job.
Great video Ken , always see your posts in the Run Disney group as well. I’m running Chicago this year so it was great to see a video of the course and can’t wait !
Nice pacing strategy. Good to see you sticking to it in those early miles when you know you could shave off 20-30 sec/mile but pay for it with interest later on.
What is your run/walk interval? I did 1 minute run/30 second walk for a half marathon recently. My plan for a 15K I have soon is 2 minute run/ 30 second walk.
