I lived my entire life believing that i can't sing since I can't hit any high note.
Till oneday i girl asked me a random Q if I sing or practice? And for my shock she wasn't making fun kor kidding and she told me that i am an Alto! I feel too happy and wanna practice.

Same, but it's actually my choir teacher's fault. She made me stay in soprano group for the whole 7 years of my musical school even though I barely could keep up with our part and my voice would strain on G4 and A4, and we had to sing like D5 and E5. I thought I just didn't have any talent. I dreamt of going to our alto group, but I thought that I wouldn't fit there either because I'm obviously a soprano with bad voice. After I graduated, I started singing some songs to myself for fun and I found my voice to be at its best when I sing low notes, I could sing tenor's parts and I still didn't think much of it until one day it clicked. That damn teacher made me feel so bad and allowed others to laugh at me for no reason. I won't be surprised if I harmed my vocal cords since my whole childhood tried to sing out of my range without being taught a proper way to do that. I'm still pissed at her. But I'm proud to have a lower voice, I enjoy singing tenor songs and how my voice sounds when I sing G3-H3, it's just so... natural and easy? 😊😊😊

@@RelaxCreatorMary voices are developed over time. A soprano who has trained her voice may be able to reach a certain range, that doesnt mean you can take anyone off the street and they will automatically be able to effortlessly use their entire range potential.

All women can sing these notes. It's not difficult. You're just doing it wrong.

I loved singing when i was younger, but my voice could never make those typical female high notes so i just said i couldn't sing. Im only learning now what an alto even is! No problems hitting the lowest note, but stuggle with the highest 3. I guess im an alto with a rubbish range😂

ive had enough people tell me that, I know that female tenors are not real, but I sing in the tenor section of every chorus ive taken part in, and I also just use it as casual language. thanks for your concern though!

@@jhobesacespedesquesada4568 still a mezzo…idk why voice teachers use “alto” as a voice when it’s a vocal part in a choral piece that mezzos and contraltos and sometimes sopranos sing.
It doesnt go that low tbh. An alto should be very strong on those low notes, like projecting over an orchestra in an opera. Sopranos can possibly go lower, range is not everything.

@@birdandcatlover5597 to clarify I didnt say ur not an alto. I just said range isn’t everything because I’ve heard clear sopranos go surprisingly low and know mezzos can often but not always go pretty low too.
Plus this is pretty low for a female to sing. I would just point out its not the extreme low end of a true contralto voice but the voice should be very comfortable on the low end. This may be the case for you. But there are other qualities that make up the sound of an alto voice, along with variation, as each voice is unique on its own. I’d love to hear you sing.
I went past the lowest note, and couldn’t get through the high notes…

This was really cool.
I could hit all the lower notes and all the higher notes except for a couple of the towards the end. I don't know if it's relivent but I am male so lower notes are naturally stronger then my higher range. Also only been learning to sing for about 12 months.
I don't what that means in a vocal range standpoint. But this was fun to do. I'm going to save this and add it to my warm ups lol.

I think that the nice thing about being an alto is that I can go very very low easily, and even if high notes are hard, I can learn them and I also can do some whistle notes✨

i find that a good substitute is stylizing the high notes w a change of tone in voice. singing lighter and i suppose more feminine?

So in the end my brain was right😭😭 when I was in the choir they always put me in the girls’ group with low voices just because my voice when I spoke was slightly less high-pitched, but they immediately realised that it was not my range. Even in the choirs in the church they complimented me for my voice and I am very happy to finally have a confirmation about my range
I've listened to the couple of your other short videos. I think, your voice may be called female alto, though you cover mezzo-soprano range as well.
The very rare and beautiful voice! It resembles me recorder or baroque transverse flute. The range of alto is compatible with contralto. But timbre is different, in general and in low/mid/high registers.
I suppose female altos may also have other transition tones than contraltos.

Those last two notes going down are where I’m most comfortable singing in my range, they’re the easiest notes for me to hit and I can sing them effortlessly

I did this and the mezzo soprano test thing, and I have made a conclusion.
I can go like majority of the low notes for alto, same with the high notes for mezzo soprano. Now what? 💀

Why is it that I can hit the higher notes more easily than the lower notes? I truly thought it would be the opposite, but my voice cracks more when I try to go deepest versus highest
I can hit all of the notes, I’d have to get louder to hit some of the higher ones though (I tried mezzo-soprano first and knew immediately I could go lower and definitely couldn’t hit the high notes)

Not low enough to be alto range cause literally all soprano can hit an F3. As a soprano myself i can go low till B2 (A2 on my best days)
Cause it's not purely about hitting the note. Volume, quality, tessitura play a role too. It has to be a useful tone (without a mic assistance ).

Im not sure what i am? Im a female, 14 year old singer, for context ofc. I tend to sing lower than most of my friends, who are all sopranoes, and I feel extremely comfortable in the lower half of my range, but not so much that I can sing lower notes comfortably. Similarly, I cant hit higher notes when I would like too, so most songs I end up singing in a falsetto or head voice. Ive been trying to find songs that I can belt/sing in a comfortable chest voice without mixing. Anone know what I should do?

I guess I’m a hybrid. I’m gay so I have the ability to go low and raspy, but do high pitch notes and a proper alto vibrato. I haven’t steadied my low notes yet

I tested both tests, mezzo is actually more comfortable Lol in this one I couldn't get the last low note and the penultimate one was uncomfortable

I could go lower to the Bb2. It’s weird that alto’s range stopped at the F3…
I have no singing experience but had trouble with the upper 3 or 4 notes, but could have easily continued 3 or 4 notes below where it stopped without getting the strained effect. I assume if you train your range widens slightly in both directions but I always feel too low for an alto. (I can hit the notes but the most comfortable place is lower end.)
What exactly is this range? Contralto? I'm a lady but some male tenors can hit notes higher than me.

Fun fact: my teacher said I had an all around voice and I could have chosen to be a soprano 1 or an alto 2 (our alto 2 part in the choir sometimes sings tenor) and I was literally so proud of myself lol :,)
When I was 10yo, our church were looking for a group of kids to sing 'Hallelujah'. I did not know that it will be an audition or sort of screening. I was told to sing and I'm not a singer nor do I have a singer voice but the pianist who were also one of like church sisters told me I'm an Alto. It was one regret I have, I should have proceeded to the practice and learn to sing properly. Church choir mostly bring out the singers out of a person bcos most people I know were not singers at the beginning but after they joined church choirs they are suddenly putting songs in videoke machine. I still want to learn how to sing properly but I'm new to the area and doesn't know noone. I started earning violin at 32yo the pandemic happened, hopefully I could join a choir if they have the patience to teach me how to sing.

Idk I can’t hit the low notes but high is fine. In theater when I’m in ensemble my director usually puts me with altos bc most of the cast refuses to not say they’re soprano so I take the fall and struggle

Im alto I can make both high and low sounds. High sounds are a bit more difficult. I got successful results on my second try.

I would say my voice type is an alto mezzo. I can't sing extremely high notes like Celine Dion and Katy Perry, but I'd be lucky if I could get to Britney Spears type of singing.
