The compliant mechanisms lab at Brigham Young University made the flasher you see the 6 students opening up. JPL is currently working on a way to actuate it in space. Another version you can google is called the JPL Starshade

Being able to make origami or any other DIY stuff is really a gift! cos its really hard and requires a lot of patience!

To be clear: that folded microscope isn't 100% paper, there is a glass bead that acts as a lense (Not that this makes it any less impressive)
