(This is not the recipe used in the video but is one that I love. Our regular line of soaps do not contain palm oil. If you you want a palm free recipe, play around with adding more butters and/or olive oil.)
30% Lye Concentration
6% Super Fat
40% Olive Oil
20% Coconut Oil
10% Palm Oil (I look for Palm that is certified by Palm Done Right)
10% Rice Bran Oil
10% Castor Oil
10% Cocoa Butter
1tsp ppo* Sodium Lactate
*Per Pound of Oil
I soap at room temperature - which means the oils and the lye solution are in the 65-75 degree range.

Sorry to hear about your Dobie. I feel your pain since I've myself had to have my Pit put down years ago & it still hurts my heart.
*For those curious* no she wasn't put down because she was viscous or anything. She was a love bug & a delight but she had a brain tumor that wasn't operable & had some serious seizures she couldn't come out of in the last hours of her life.

My condolences for Riggs' passing. It is painful when you lose a loved furry family member. Hope you take it easy for a couple of days.
That coffee soap looks like a luxurious treat for my skin! I love the smell of coffee and what it does for the skin. Coffee soaps are one of my few guilty pleasures!

Thank you. We just brought a new boy into our family. He's 7 months and has a very similar personality to Riggs. It just warms our hearts. I adore the coffee soap. It turned out just as I'd hoped.

I'm so sorry you lost your sweet dog last April. I'm just watching this, but my heart still goes out to you for that hard moment. I've lost 2 pets in the past 5 years. It is not easy. Thank you for all of your lessons in soap making.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss as well. I never knew it could be this hard. I ended up with some moderate health issues from crying so much and getting dehydrated. Take care of yourself!

Thank you Debby! That makes me so happy. I really do love to make the smaller batches that I can really focus on. I'm in full production this week and the big batches are just not as fun since they're so heavy.
Hahahaha 😂 I’m glad I’m not the only one who stands around just sniffing oils, I do that with my rosemary all the time, and my husband thinks I’m a freak show 😂

So sorry about your fur baby Holly! It's so hard to lose them, they are family. Just lost a cat in the last month, she was young and we are not sure what she died from. You could make a dog inspired soap in his honor.🐾 Always love watching your videos, you're my favorite on youtube!😘
I am so sorry to hear of your loss Wendy. It's the hardest thing we've dealt with as a family. I'm thankful for that fact but it is still so hard.

Soul soothing is always a good idea when things are heavy! That's always what I think when you share your lovely farm on Instagram stories! My dad's calves are always too wild for petting and feeding, I love seeing your sweet guys! So sorry about Riggs! What a sweet boy gone too soon! Sending hugs!
Yes for sure! We have to nurture our hearts as well. 💓 My grandpa would roll in his grave if he knew how I was treating these cows. Haha! He would appreciate that they are being well loved and well cared for but ranchers usually prefer to keep them a bit wilder. One summer as a kid, he had a bottle calf and he assigned my cousin and I the duties of feeding this calf. Well, it was right after City Slickers the movie came out and so we named him Norman. Soon, I had him following me around and sucking on my hand the whole time. I got relieved of my calf duties. Haha!
I absolutely love using the utensil holder. I found those a couple months ago. They have changed my whole soaping life.
So sorry for your loss. My cat died 5 years ago and sometimes the grief still pops up unexpectedly.
It's so hard. We have a new Doberman now and he's so much like Riggs that sometimes it feels as if Riggs is still here.

Thank you Amber! Losing Riggs was the hardest thing I've gone through. I've experienced loss but losing an indoor dog was just at a whole different level.

I love the idea of a soap based on how you take your coffee! Such a sweet idea
The coffee soap smells so good too. I do like this 'more' natural version of coffee soap. It's much more authentically scented and it's soft, smooth, and comforting...like my morning coffee. Haha! I may try it without the little bit of fragrance or try to find a natural substitute for that. I am so glad it's morning and I can have my coffee soon. 😂

I'm so sad for your family, a dog is a friend, a child, companion, someone to love you unconditionally and when losing your pet/friend you lose a family member. My condolence to you and your family for the lose of rings, I was so hopeful he would pull threw! I want both soaps, they turned out so good!!!!

Oh nooo, sorry for your loss. My love for Dobermans actually came from when you posted a pic or video of your 2 dogs on both side of you. They were just looking out onto the front yard. I can't remember what it was but I've always told my partner that my love for doberman dogs came from this soap making lady on youtube.
Thank you. Dobermans are really spectacular creatures. We have a new Doberman now. We've had him since January and we took him in at 7 mo. It's hard to admit sometimes but he's even more amazing than Riggs was. We didn't think it was possible. He has certainly mended our hearts.

like really pretty yellow.
You can't never go wrong with a soothing time and soaps.
I absolutely loved this coffee batch. I have made it two more times. One of those batches is on the curing rack right now.
So soothing, yes! I love the creamy and comforting soaps. I'm sorry to hear about Riggs, I remember some of the issues he was having over the winter (I've been out for a while, myself). Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Our fur buddies are a blessing while they're with us. We have a great Dane/pit mix that's showing his age, so we're getting him a puppy to both increase his happiness during his decline, and make it easier for us when he goes.
Thank you! It felt so good to make these soaps and of course, I'm super excited to start using them once they've cured. Getting a puppy sounds fun! I'm so thankful for our other two dogs. They've been very comforting.

I feel your loss. I lost my little one, Micah, not long ago, and I miss her so much. I want to make a soap in her honor. She was my sidekick for over 17 years. I have an idea of what I want to do. Just have to figure out the logistics of it. Hope you feel better.

@@moriversoap I have not. Been trying to survive nursing school and my boards up until 2 days ago. But now, I have more time to give it some thought. It does suck, because they are family. I miss her all the time. I just knew it was the right thing to do, and knowing that she was at peace when she left us makes all the difference in the world. I hope you're feeling better. I'll keep you updated with how it goes.

Those look so good. I just had to laugh when you pulled out the lemon poppy seed loaf. It looked like a massive log of seasoned butter. I want to try making soap but the measurements and the lie are intimidating.
Thank you! I can see how it would look like butter. So funny! Let me tell you, I read a book about making soap (my soapmaking precedes the current internet experience) and got to the lye portion and freaked out! I put the book down and took it back to the library. But I just wanted to try it and it's not that bad. Just do lots of research, be fully prepared - especially for safety when the time comes, and respect the lye. Don't fear it but do respect it.

That coffee seed oil looks so cool. I wonder if making home coffee bean oil would come out the same? I think I will get my crockpot out and cook some coffee beans with some oil on low heat to see if that would be good on my home soaps.🤔

Hi Holly, I just put these sort of milk soaps, especially with any additional honey into my soap fridge overnight. They even still seem to gel, but don't overheat , or crack or anything. I thought both of your soaps looks dreamy :)
That is a good way to do it if the molds are small enough. I don't have a fridge that will hold the length of these molds and especially not the size I normally work with. I'm persnickity about my food life and my soap life colliding. Haha! Thankfully, I didn't have any trouble with these overheating. YAY!
@@moriversoap I have a soap fridge in the soap room. My x18 bar mold fits lengthwise across the fridge :) Yes thank fully they didn't overheat.
@@TheLittleHomestead1 My soap fridge is a mini fridge. My regular fridge is always packed to the brim with food. Someday I want to have a full size fridge in my work space.

Thank you! My hands are on the smaller side but I do cut mine at 1.25 inches. I prefer the way a thicker bar wears down over time.
