I like the copper parts for the Mod. Very cool. Metal safety plate/plexiglass in front of the chain. Wouldn't want you to mangle your fingers if your hand slips off the shifter. Looking forward to Part 2.
On the copper king where you have the white wire, I would try to use black Eso cord. On the Hurst handle I would maybe Try to use the red button to turn the machine on and off with. And always great to see your videos new and old. Always getting great ideas from them.
Could the red button trigger an E-stop maybe? That way you only need the one hand to stop the machine if something goes wrong instead of holding the shifter up and then reaching for the off button.

Left handed hurst shifter, I would check out some online Australian speed shops they drive backwards there and they love thier performance stuff
