    It's one of the most informative and breakdown videos I've ever watched. Tommy, you know your stuff without a script, and your use of real-world examples with the use of the animations to back it up, was next level presentation. Love that daiwa is always pushing the boundaries, and would love to see if the DRD drag system will come down to smaller reel sizes or atleast a combination of DRD and carbon washer system. Great video guys outstanding. 🤙🏼

      Cheers for the kind words. DRD currently is standard on 18-25000 and an SLP 14k DRD spool is available. In our testing, the smaller sized reels can’t physically hold enough of heavy enough PE to require DRD. For example, if you’re only fishing PE6 or PE5, your drag setting won’t be high enough to need DRD, in this case a carbon multi stack system like what was in the 20 Saltiga is sufficient.
      DRD is really optimised for PE8-12 and heavy drag with long-lasting fights.

    Great breakdown of the Saltiga technology, Tom! 👌🏽
    Can’t wait to get one and see how it performs off the rocks! 😍

    It has the same oscillation system as the 2015 model and earlier. I don't know why there was a need to increase the gear thickness and size, never saw any gears go on the 202 but I would like to see how people feel about it when it come out!

    • @tomslater574
      @tomslater574 6 дней назад

      @@JSJ-mn8wg not so much about creating strength cause the last one had issues. The bigger gear enables us to make the reel easier to turn under load. A big deal when jigging or topwater fishing.

      @tomslater574 well that's news to me, wish I could see what people did to manage to break that main gear but thanks for letting me know! I can see the gear will be better for people that high stick reeling, putting all the pressure on the reel instead of using the rod to pump and wind. Never thought about it like that!

    Why the magseal with no available oil ?
    That seems like a major con when deciding vs Stella.

      To force you into their service center of course. There are third party ferro fluids available but who knows what they’re actually made of

    Hey Daiwa, when are you going to release your ferrofluid to us anglers to service our own reals?

    I have a 2020 20000-H. A stunning reel. Beautifully made. Well done for making it even better. Congratulations Daiwa #1. Thanks for the info Tom.

    How much do those roller drag washers cost to replace once they fail? I think I’ll stick with carbon washers - I’ve never had a problem with them and takes 5 minutes to replace once they’re worn

      @tomslater574 worst thing is they know how to fish, old mate every time they advertise they butcher the specs of the reel.

    It's an amazing reel but not selling mag seal fluid and the tool to open it is ridiculous....
    Saltiga is top of the line but why own it if you cant service it? So sorry but shimano till this changes.

    Not even 1 turn of the drag knob...how does it sound please

    • @tomslater574
      @tomslater574 7 дней назад +1

      Whoops! Drag sound is similar to 20 Saltiga. The loud oversized clicker is still there.

    Send me one so I can show all my mates how much better the Saltiga is than the ‘Stella’ since they think the Stella is like the God of reels.

    The roller bearing on the pillar is not a "new" technology. It has been on previous saltigas and other models, Just not the 2020 saltiga.

    • @tomslater574
      @tomslater574 7 дней назад +1

      True, we have used roller supports before but not for a little bit. The design of this is different to previous versions though.

    Daiwa seems to be steering in the wrong direction. Look at Shimano-focus on making gears stronger, not bigger and heavier. Focus on the quality of the gear, not the quantity.

    • @bendover-pn1xt
      @bendover-pn1xt 7 дней назад

      The gear is strong, 2020 has never had any gearing issues at all from what i’ve seen over the 4 years its been in the market. Whats the point of a strong gear when your shimano has snappy handles?

    • @skudaaron1986
      @skudaaron1986 7 дней назад +1

      If you watched the Video it had mentioned that the gears are stronger and better.

      The weight difference in a 14k size is 5g? I know what I’d choose

    • @King0Random
      @King0Random 6 дней назад +1

      "Making gear beefier to show off" is like putting a spoiler on a bicycle-it might catch attention, but does it really serve a purpose? It’s all about style over substance, and sometimes, it’s more about flexing than functionality. Just remember, the loudest engine isn’t always the fastest car!

      Wait when it is 20% on a boxing day sale or end of financial year sale. The technology in this makes it worth the extra $50 from the previous Saltiga.
