hey buddy that was a great video my fan quit working today on my WR250r and I'm trying to figure it out didn't know the WR could do a diagnostic test ( very cool) thanks for sharing ,,,LIKED ( thumbs up )
Thanks. I confirmed that my fan works. No electrical issue. I noticed fan never goes on since the purchase brand new from the dealer. What is the min temperature that should turn on the radiator ? R2018. Thanks
I've just been messing with this myself - had my first overheat in 12 years yesterday (2008) and my fan nor light never came on - used to run all the time, especially on trails and have seen the light once or twice. Using a potentiometer, I'd set it until the fan came on, then go into diag. and see what temp it was reading. It seems the fan comes on around 222F and the temp light around 242F. Running at idle, smelling the coolant getting hot, I read 185F max, so I think my coolant temp sensor is to blame. I"ll pull it this weekend and test it in some boiling water, but I'm going to have the spare on hand anyway.
OblivionRatula Do i need to drain oil or coolant to replace the sensor ? Is it actually oil or coolant sensors ? - I wish to find some online doc about engine repairs. Just in case I bought this “Brand: MOTOALL MOTOALL Temperature Thermosensor 179700-0220 8CC857900100 5PS857900000 Thermo Sensor for Yamaha TEMP 8CC-85790-01-00” on amazon. Not sure if that is BS but that what I went for.
@@michalaugustyniak6449 Sorry man, I forgot about this comment because I didn't know the answer at the time. Yes, the coolant will come out when you pull the sensor. I was due for a flush/change anyway. I also swapped the thermostat while I was in there. Can't say if it's the right sensor, I just ordered the OEM from Partzilla. Got my bike happily blowing hot air on my leg at lights again. Good luck!
"to erase that I turn the switch on then off"? What switch? also the service manual says to disconnect the fuel pump wire harness. I think there is a test that requires pressing the starter, so disconnecting will not pump gas to the injectors.
Any ideas, why I can't enter the diag? I followed the instructions, check lights go on, go off but the red one (engine temp.) and green one stays on. Still holding the buttons (longer than mentioned time), but nothing happens. My fuel pump doesn't run after turning the ignition switch on, therefore I can't start the engine, nevertheless the starter is running. Aslo tested the fuel pump, it's working when I put voltage on the connectors.
I saw in another video that some ECU plugs (under the seat) don't have the black ground cable connected. Without the black cable being connected to ground you can't get into Diag mode.
I bought my wr without a speedo. So I bought an oem one used with 4800mi. Plugged it in and got err1 meaning no signal from ecu. Here is only 1 connector behind the headlight but there is 3 connectors on the speedo. Does yours require only one connection?
@@groovyshoos5200 thanks man I figured it out. Was on my way to buy one and wanted to check all those codes to see if there was an issue. Btw what’s the black box on the left rear side of the bike. It’s where passenger pegs would be on a normal bike
I had a huge doubt if my radiator fan is working.. thanks to you i cleared my doubt. Keep up the good work 👍
Nice job! Simple, easy to follow explanation of how to get into the diags and how to move around. Thanks!

Is the engine stop switch on the right handlebar in the "ON" position? It should be on when entering the diag. mode.
lenarama1066 yes, yesterday I put my ecu in my friend's wrr and found out, my ecu is dead.
